the oncologist journal of august 2002 contains an interesting discussion between a panel of medical professionals on the subject of jehovah's witnesses refusing blood therapies.. this article focuses on a witness woman who refused some blood therapies but was convinced by her congregation elders that it was okay to accept bovine hemoglobin therapy.
realizing the glaring inconsistency of bovine hemoglobin being acceptable in the face of prohibiting other blood therapies like red cell infusion, one physician said,.
Pistoff, I know what you mean about the 'cows blood' aspect of this. The blood ban in the Bible clearly refers to animal blood, and the WTS, by extension applies it to human blood.
Why on earth would they allow the blood that's is specifically banned and not allow the blood that they feel is implicated, though not specified?
I wish the r&f JW's could see how shady the blood policy really is.

The only one I can remember is once when we were doing a book offer the guy at the door wasn't interested in the book, so I went in my bag to get a couple of mags to offer instead. As I pulled the mags out, a couple of marbles that belonged to one of my sons fell out onto the floor. I said, "Looks like I'm losing my marbles."
Too bad I didn't realize then just how true those words were.
The guy took the mags and started a study a month or so later (I had to turn him over to a brother, of course). I hope he never got baptized.
did anyone catch the study 2 weeks ago when in one of the later paragraphs dealing with jehovah blessing his earthly organization, they actually admitted that jehovah had punished his earthly org in 1919?
i thought that was very interesting because usually the society would not even bring that up?
but it also brings up the point "what would prevent jehovah from disciplining his "earthly org" now for various wrong views and actions?.

This DIRECT ACTION OF GOD thus, becomes the very beginning of Jehovah's direct intervention and administering of the much prophesied Great Divine Discipline upon His Own Name People, clearly demonstrating to the world that "judgment" does indeed "start with the House of God." i just read that the name, 'jehovah' was created 700 years ago by a catholic monk who took the vowels from the word, 'lord' and combined them with the letters yhwh (the unpronounceable, biblical term for god).. anyone ever heard this or know a credible source for this info?.

Right on!It is the Watchtowers insistence that it is a correct and proper way to pronounce it that is the real problem. Taken that way the arguments are of course valid and will continue to no end.

I'm wondering about that though. Siegfried was having a study with them last year. When I found out about the UN thing in August, we put an end to that real quick. The elder that was studying with him called in ...er...about February of this year, and Sieg told him that he has some problems about the UN thing, the way that disfellowshipped people are treated, etc. Sieg said that he would be willing, at some point, to get with him (the elder) and talk about it. We haven't seen hide nor hair of them since.
No matter where I live, whether they know about my 'status' or not, I rarely see the JW's. They've come to my door maybe 3 times in the past 16 yrs. What's up with that?

I think that we all have a story to tell but not everyone will believe it. It makes me sad to see the 'pack mentality' (good call RHW) that tends to overtake people. There's song that has the line that goes: "I think it's about forgiveness...forgiveness..even if, even if you don't love me anymore."
I think that's what it's about.
