I understand that witnesses were "encouraged" to sell houses , cars etc , cash in insurance policies and donate the monies to the Watchtower . If the GB were not sure about '75 why did they let this happen ?

Does anyone know if all the "donations " were returned when it became obvious that Armageddon wasn't on for that year ? I spoke to a younger witness a few months ago about false prophecy and she didn't know about the encouragement given to people to make these grand gestures , and she was quite sure that the Watchtower being the honest org. that it is would refund any donations made on the expectations for '75.

jwn has a number of former elders who awakened to ttatt while they held their position, and a handful of current elders who help provide needed intel.. .

later, i learned he and his wife had faded, and both of his grown sons know ttatt as well.. .

hi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.

she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.

one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.

Hi, good for you for taking a stance and thinking about your son's future . I am puzzled by your veiw that because you leave the Watchtower you will be leaving religion . The Watchtower teaching about religion is skewed and false anyway . Many ex witnesses find faith , company , love and acceptance in other religious groups . Just because the Watchtower is flawed that does not mean that God is . Try reading ths Bible for yourself , not with the "help " of Watchtower literature . Have a dig into early church history for yourself . Come to your own conclusions , you are a free , intelligent person endowed with God given thinking skills . Enjoy your life outside of the org.

Like one of the other posters I have never been a witness but I have been faithfully married for 40 yrs , drink moderately , don't swear and have never robbed a bank! honest . People outside of the org. even us terrible Trinitarians are not nearly as bad as painted . Give us a try .

just a thought , in veiw of the new light about the fds now being only the gb and all that it implies does anyone think that the gb or maybe even the lawers behind the gb are consolodating all the worldly assets in order to jump ship at some point in the not too distant future ?

i assume that the gb or the legal team have control of many billions of dollars , mabe the new status is a step towards moving funds around to the advantage of individuals who could then take full advantage of those funds .. this probably has occured to others and i wonder what y'all think..

thanks for posting , I see what you mean but I thought that there has been a lot of talk of falling membership and what with the stink of the child abuse issues coming to the fore and more Witnesses looking at banned sites etc , I just thought that if the GB can possibly see an end in sight they might not care about a split if they got all the cash . like an unscrupulous company boss who can see that company heading for liquidation and sidelines as many assets as possible to save paying off debts . I know that the Watchtower doesn't have debts but you get the picture .

Apognophos , ta for your advice . While ironing hubbies shirts I listened to a talk from of one the Telling The Truth ministry team about truth and it has prompted me to state the , wot we Brits call , bleedn obvious :-

this isnt just based on this page, but other pages ive read on this website.

while youre at it why not just say all black people are criminals, all asians are rapists and all white people molest their children.
