Anna Marina l have never been near a Kingdom Hall , l am an active member of my local Anglican church.
NewLight99 can you give any references in WT literature to show that they did worship Christ until the 1950s ? l don't have any old publications to reference .
When l received the letter yesterday l did a very quick check and found three other people who received them , 2 in my street and one other in a different part of town . So possibly the JWs have sent a lot of these letters , maybe to everyone . Yes they were sent through the post with 2nd class stamps .

Today l received a hand written letter from my local Kingdom Hall . l say my local as the one nearest me , for those who don't know me l am not nor have ever been a JW . As this letter was addressed " To The Householder " l assume that everyone in the area ( Tamworth , Staffordshire ) has been sent one . Enclosed was a leaflet titled " How Do You View The Future ? "
The writer , who does identify herself but l will keep anonymous , quotes Psalm 37 : 11 . l am invited to visit the J.W.Org website and also to reply to the letter if l wish , either by writing to the Kingdom Hall or on what looks like [email protected] .
So does anyone recognise the caring etc ? because l am not aware of that , and any suggestions for ( polite ) questions to ask or points to make .

Misheard song lyrics
by jhine ini thought that as there seems to have been some very serious sh-stuff being discussed lately maybe a light hearted thread might be in order .
i was thinking about misheard song lyrics ( climb every woman ) and it seemed a good topic for a thread .to start off for many years l thought that fat boy slim was singing about some very posh shoes with funk soul rubber on the bottom .
has anyone else realised that they have been singing the wrong words ?

No , l ( a lifelong Anglican ) for one am not looking at this as a sign or to renew my faith .
Yes the JWs are correct that Dec 25th isn't Jesus actual birthday and there is no mention of how many wise men there were and they probably didn't arrive until at least 2 years after the event . Some Anglican churches don't put the wise men into the nativity scene until after Christmas .
What the Watchtower doesn't mention is the significance of the gifts , Gold for kingship Frankincense for deity . Myrrh for death .
A few ideas have been floated as to the star including the suggestion that it may have been a comet . People who know much more about astronomy than l do have produced what l believe are some credible theories about this .

The word Jehovah does not appear in the original Greek New Testament , it is mostly the word" Lord ". Jehovah was added to the JW bible by them to back up their teaching that Jesus is an angel by separating Jesus and God . So Carla's point is very valid . The real translation is " everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved " as she says. That is ONE of the reasons for Trinitarians belief in the teaching that Jesus is God made man . The NT constantly refers to both Jesus and God as Lord .
