not just jw's, but countless others (evangelicals etc.
) are claiming that we're in the "last days.".
but........bible students/jw's have been spouting this fake message since the 19th century!!!!!!.

i went to a christening at a church today, a black church.
it was an incredible experience!!
women were an active part of the service, and the people were very welcoming.
LauraLynn exactly , the sermons in churches are based on the Bible- the Gospel.
One of our lay readers, Ray , often comes out with what he will admit are his thoughts on a passage. He will usually then say " you may disagree with my interpretation , that's fine and l hope that some of you do " . His hope is to start us thinking and discussing.
It is often said that you can read the same verse again after a few years and get something different from it . According to where you are on your spiritual journey.
This is , l suspect, quite different from the JW attitude.

Thank you Vanderhoven7 , that is beautiful.
How wonderful to see lots of different churches of all kinds coming together. That happens more often than most people realise.

As far as l know we , the British don't have these religious satellite channels. Brits don't go in for that kind of " give us your money for a blessing " stuff .
I have done some research and this whole " tomorrow is our last day " thing does seem to be mainly American.
As l said no Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists or Methodists do the date predictions and that covers probably 95% of British Christians.
Certainly in Watchtower land this appears to be about control and l suspect that the mainly Evangelicals who indulge use it for the same purpose.

I am totally bemused by the OP . As l may have mentioned before ( a couple of times 😂) l am a life long British Anglican. I have never heard anyone claim that we are in the last days / end times etc.
We know that Jesus said that ONLY the Father knows when the end will come . We believe that you should live each day as if it is your last and speculation about times and dates just detracts from doing God's work in the every day.
As far as l know Catholics don't go in for these predictions nor do Baptists or Methodists. That covers the majority of British Christians .

Hi SouthCentral , welcome to a whole new experience. Churches are soooooo different to K Hs .
I am a member of a Church of England church and play a full part in the running of the church. I am on the PCC ( parochial church council) l do the readings and prayers once a month at our traditional sung Evensong service.
We have recently had a new LADY vicar , she's brilliant . You will get a warm , genuine welcome and no judgement.
I feel sad when people lump all religious folk together through the prism of JWism.

co training video: link to ex-jw reddit thread discussion.
today is the first time i was made aware of this actual elder body video.
it's training for how a co should handle elder's whose children decide to pursue further education.
Hoser , a GOOD education doesn't just teach facts it encourages critical thinking. It encourages you to question everything and reason for yourself.
Home education could fall down in that area . Mom and Dad could , if they wished , impress upon their children the values and world view that they hold .
EG a racist couple will indoctrinate their children to be racist .
I understand that some JW parents home school to indoctrinate their children in JW teaching and keep them ' safe ' from worldly values .
A good education introduces young people to a raft of world views and ideas and encourages them to examine and critique what they hear and read .

Another might ruffle feathers post from me .
I have noticed on other social media sites that there is a general feeling even among Americans that Republicans want a non educated society. The reason being that people who are badly educated are easier to manipulate.
I again point out that The Org. started in America. It seems that The Watchtower is a mini version of GOP in many ways .
Produce followers who are incapable of critical thinking and bend and use them as you like .

i remember sitting through public talks where the speaker spent the hour discussing in great detail anal sex, masturbation (of yourself and others), sex during menstruation and so on.
.
i was a child, looking back now, i realise that they systematically stripped away our childhood innocence, we knew and heard things no 'worldly' child would have heard.. the child abuse and grooming happened to every single one of us, the feelings of guilt and shame was in all of us even if we didn't actually do anything bad, the mental images caused by these filthy men hung around in our innocent minds till there was no room for that innocence.. it has taken me 44 years to realise that what was done to us, even those of us not physically abused, is a crime.. do they still have talks like that nowadays i wonder?
TonusOH , from what l read about American politics it seems that the religious far right still holds considerable sway over many senators.
