Fisherman ' it is reasonable to assume " , have you never heard the saying that to assume makes an ass out of you and me ?
There is zero evidence that the Divine name was in the NT .

for those of you who still respect the bible, which translation/s are you using now?

so a few years i watched a lecture series by a man named dr. micheal heiser called the two powers in heaven, jesus in the old testament.
funny thing was it wasn't even very evangelical in nature, so i turned off my religious binders and just watched it like a regular person.
it turns out that the new testament is a hinge point in the bible.
Truth , sorry if l misunderstood your post . You are very welcome in the Anglican church. Jesus's teachings about practical Christianity are very much to the fore.
Disclaimer . Other denominations are also readily available.

I use the NIV as well. It's our " pew Bible " as in the one available for folk to use during services to follow the readings if they wish to .

Truth I'm really not sure about that. Loving your neighbour as yourself is the second most important command and that comes from Jesus .
1 John says
" we know that we have passed from death to life because we love each other ........ dear children let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth. ......
This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set out hearts at rest in His presence. "
So we can't be horrible to people and get a free pass by just saying the right thing.
As to the Trinity , yes some of the Early Church Fathers believed that when OT people said that they had seen God because the Bible says that no one has seen the Father then they must have seen God the Son .
One of them wrote a whole article on this called something like " A Conversation with Trypho a Jew . " in which he has a conversation with the said ( imaginary ) Trypho about the sightings of God in the OT .

so, we had this meeting with 3 elders ( larry, moe and curly) my uncle who is the lawyer sat in the room and stayed quiet, and fact for 40 minutes we let them talk.
we would just sit there.
they went into along winded monolog about how the world is in bad shape and getting worst.
Rattigan what questions should he have asked ?

So what do you really think Punky ? 🤣🤣no need to sugar coat among friends.

These measures were only implemented a few days ago , no where near enough time to see how effective they may or may not be.
Yes it could be a disaster ( Darling ) but any economic changes need time to settle in .
If this were a Labour government implementing some controversial measures then Labour supporters would be saying ' give it time ' .
For me the clue is in the title Opposition Party . Whichever party is in power and even if they are doing a good job ( ? !!) then the Opposition will oppose , it's their job . So l find it very difficult to take any ranting seriously, it's what they are there to do .
Time will tell

what do you guys think of the evangelicals theory about babylon the great and the last pope...just starting this big book out of curiosity...like 500 pages...it seems there is a lot of different thinking from the borg.
Mike to answer your question l don't think much of it . I see no point in any group trying to work these things out. You would think that they would learn from all the other failed guesses .
Are these American Evangelicals ?

why do you think many jws are hostile and rude?
or is that just my imagination?.
mark jones writes: the vast majority of jehovah’s witnesses are nice people.
I wouldn't label myself " a born again " Christian because it seems to be an American label and unfortunately tends to conjure up a picture of religious nutters .
I am a Christian ( have l ever mentioned that? ) . I don't feel angry , don't like everyone but we aren't told to , just love them , and don't feel the need to be defensive. As Vanderhoven said most , for want of a better word , ordinary Christians are pretty happy people . We should be .
I often hear the saying " hate the sin but love the sinner "
I think that JWs are taught to hate and ignore persistent sinners because that label is often given to people who have rejected the Org . Leaders are obviously worried that the light will spread infecting others. So divide and conquer seems to be the strategy.

sometimes jws wonder if the wt/jw is not the truth, 'then where else are we to go?
' i say 'why not atheistic/scientific philosophical naturalism and why not a secular philosophy which teaches a way of life?
' what do you folks say?.
I haven't read through all the original posts and this was probably mentioned.
The correct , Biblical question is to WHOM would we go ?
The WT changed it to stress their position of being Jehovah's only mouthpiece on earth.
