Well let me be the first to comment on how many parts are "warning" parts. Even an "apostate" symposium is there specifically mentioning "human" apostates. Yep the rhetoric is going up a few notches with this one. Wow! "The truth brings not peace but a sword". Yikes!

Also, it isn't obvious to me there is a part dealing with the new understanding on the FDS. usually that would be an end of the day Saturday part would it not?

Resigned being an elder

i am new here and this is my first post although i have lurked here for a couple years.

i started having doubts about the org back then and my curiosity overcame my fear of so-called apostate websites so here i am.

i just resigned being an elder 2 weeks ago.

Congrats suby and welcome. Contribute to the board, you will be surprised who it helps. I am glad your wife has not judged you, and you should tread carefully. The more I read new ones here, the more I hear my own story told and retold. I mean EXACTLY told and retold. it is kind of amazing, and lets you know you aren't crazy when your indoctrination kicks in from time to time.

So here is my question if you don't mind. What was it that broguht you to this decision? What did you have a problem with that was too big to turn your brain off about?

in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

Irondork is right. Your hesitance to do aomething that under any other circumstance is easy (turn down something you don't want to do), is a vestige of how our minds are connected to the group.

See what I mean? Just say no. Now onto more important and perplexing things like....you are an MS and a pioneer? How about taking yourself off the list by needing to "care for your familiys phyical well being" and go get a full time job.

Once yout profile goes down in the hall, you work on your wife through questions in family study.

Then take her "out" at odd times. Maybe even during the meeting (gulp). Then you know your wife, and you can play it by ear. My wife was a pioneer for 15 years. Went to the school twice. She was groomed to be a CO wife. Pretty, obedient, no children, submissive, and 100% loyal to the org. I have her 85% out! :)

So it can be done. it just takes patience, time, and some conviction on your part. Eventually you can step down as a servant, and then fade.

It SEEMS unreasonable that if you share a dissenting view, but publicly state you still want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.......that they would legally be able to enforce communal shunning that cuts you off from friends and love ones under threat of them themselves being shunned.

It SEEMS like a human right violation legally speaking because of the severity.

It SEEMS like harrasment, and them infringing on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

It SEEMS like letters written about you from one congregation to another, which very well may contain libel, and other files kept on you, should be available to you in the USA.

None of this however seems to actually be allowed in practice. Either someone rich enough to combat free legal representation the society uses their means to drag it out and put these theories to the test, or we may never know. Look how many failed suits there were against Scientology because it is a "religion". And Scientology quite frankly makes JW's seem totally sane. Forced abortions, forced divorce, space opera, unsubstantiated claims abounding, physical abuse......I mean what a mess.

I read a book recently that spoke about conditions at one of the Scientology "bases" where people were being beaten up and living in bad conditions. The sentence that stuck with me is this.

"People there were not being held against their will as one would think, rather it was ther will that held them there."

i love this topic.... stole it from a female talk radio host dr. sonia freeman in the chicago area decades ago.

think and post a creative (not damaging, violent, or illegal) action that would piss off those who shun us.

I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?

i have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.

it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.

i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.
