i have been out for 22 years.i was raised as a jehovahs witness.

i was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion.

theres a whole lot to the reasons why i left, but i left.

Just wanted you to see somethign you wrote when you started this and maybe we can get back on track to what it is you are asking for help with. You didn't think people on an ex-JW website were going to offer encouragement to go back realistically, so what is it you are looking for my friend?

I gave you some specific doctrine. The religion you used to know is maybe more associated with the word dogma.

I have been out for 22 years.I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. I was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion. There’s a whole lot to the reasons why I left, but I left. I married a non believer and subsequently got involved in Christian churches, even to the point of converting, being baptized and becoming a layman. Now I’m thinking about coming back. I've wondered if what I thought I knew was really what they teach so I accepted a study. Now I'm more confused then ever. My focus is only on doctrine. There are good and bad people in all groups. I don't believe the acts of some bad people determine it being the truth or not. If there were the case there is not truth. I also do not believe anyone is "brainwashed" into believing something. Everybody has a choice and everyone make individual decisions. Some of the variables maybe difficult but in the end, most of you (including me) CHOSE to be a witness at a certain point and CHOSE to leave. You don't have to agree with me. My opinion. I'm only interested in doctrine.

Corboy.......someone got their feathers ruffled. I would challenge you to find anger anywhere in my post to you, which YOU solicited. Lets not forget you asked people here a question. Some responded kindly, some gave you their opinion, some told you to shove off.

Its called diversity in opinion. You are entitled to yours too. Everyone has their own decisions to make.

Painting with a broad stroke and calling people dumbasses, while having no response for others that took the time to answer your question, doesn't exactly give you the moral high ground does it?

Now......is there anything I can help you with?

i know i have been rambling alot (feel free to delete my threads if so), but it appeas i am getting to the point where i see no use in the bible.

Interesting that you and I have more than a few parallels. I guess I too am kind of breakign into the agnostic catagory. I still believe in God, not so sure about the various holy books.

How can I stop hating the JW religion?

having this spiritual division between my wife and i over the years has been very draining in many ways.

so much so that i find myself more and more hating everything having to do with the wtbts especially when i just see watchtower literature.

i've kind of always felt that way but it's getting worst.

Ok so I don't mean for this to sound existential or anything like that but consider who is really harming you. Is it the WTBTS? Is it your wife? I think your anger is justified, but that doesn't make it healthy or neccesary.

Your wife is your wife, and she makes her choices. You are someone else and you make yours. You full well know the impact of your decisions as does she. Be clear and frank with her, discuss openly how you feel, but this is the main thing........realize your anger is coming from you. The impact of what is happening to you, is happening all inside of you. If nothing changes with her, you can't be resigned to live a miserable life with your wife in a cult. So you need to find a way to be happy despite of it.

Your wife is your wife. Do you love her? Are you going to stay married? If so, than its not a question of making the best of it. It is a decision you have to make to chose your wife AS SHE IS, and be happy about it.

Make sense?

Not so much a "refute" point by point as it is a "disagree" point by point.....but I get it. Good on him for being incensed about it and having the courage to send this to others.

My story so far

i've been trying to avoid posting this, due to extreme paranoia but its time to post my story.

i hope to not post too many details, as we've avoided being df so far, our group elder was young and lovely and cool and i just hope that in time he learns the ttatt.. i'm a regular lurker on here, occasional poster (i can't post much as my phone browser only lets me read but not post, so i only post on the odd occasion i get a time alone on the pc).

i have been fading since round about last september ( so almost my first anniversary of learning ttatt).

I have a small child, and I can only imagine the pain. I hope your boy gets better soon. While I am not athiest, I just have a hard time understanding God sitting back and letting all of these things happen because of a bet with Satan. It doesn't sit right that I if I had that power, would seemingly act with more compassion that a benevolent creator who is the personification of love?

I don't know.

Hey Corboy,

Well lets be honest. This board is full of ex JW's or people still in trying to fade. We are constantly trying to convince others or ourselves to leave or at least use your brain. There is alot of info out there, and I feel that same way about the people that you do. Quite frankly my experiences with JW's have always been great. I ONLY left because of doctrine and enforcement of that doctrine.

Let me say that again and think about it. ENFORCEMENT OF DOCTRINE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE THROUGH COMMUNAL SHUNNING.

Take blood fraction unrepentantly in 1999......disfellowshipped. Take them in 2000......using your conscience. The blood doctrine is dangerously wrong.

Was the organization selected exclusively by Godin 1919? Alot hinges on that. What evidence is there? Rutherford and his board, and then subsequent board memebrs are the faithful and discreet slave alone?

Do you believe celebrating your birthday or the birthday of a child is an act of apostacy? Something you can be shunned for from all friends and family?

What doctrine do you believe they have right? What is making you think about returning? 22 years....alot has changed. Its yourdecision, but its like the mafia. Once you get in.....you can't just walk away.

In northern San Diego, the Escondido assembly hall is in the middle of a very detailed expantion and rehab. San Diego also has one of the last open air conventions,a dn the Spanish and English both meet at the same time. It really knocks everything out all at once.

Hmmmmm.

Whiskey with Cigars

i know a few folks here are huge cigar fans, i am asking if anyone can tell me a good whiskey to go with cigars.. i am sure this is kind of a broad question but i ma having some folks over for poker this weekend and i am trying to set things up real nice like... lol.

i have the cigars ready - but i don't want to break out the cheap crown royal... any suggestions.

Macallen! Do not be swayed. Its an easy drinker, very smooth, and is multipurpose.

Brandy is all good. I won't say anything bad if its the right one.

But man......I keep a bottle or two of the stuff at all times in the bar, for when the right guest comes over.
