  We Pray For The Governing Body...

  at the meetings i've noticed over the past 2 years or so brothers asking for 'special blessings' for the governing body.

  it was everyonce in a while at first.

  now it is almost at every single meeting!

  I have been to only a handful of meetings in the past year now. Maybe 8 total including the CA. I would say in 75% of them I noticed in prayers or comments specific defference to the GB. But that could also be because I think differently, and have been out for a while. I might just be noticing more.

  The AGM was kind of brilliant, because the GB was all very "down to earth", and they joked and all that. So people laughed and felt happy that their leaders were so unlike the pope or whatever. It makes them feel close to them.

  The main reason I will say that their has been a move toard more defference, is because the conversations I have had regarding the GB with people in any kind of position, ALWAYS comes back to "obedience to those whom Jehovah has appointed". I mean EVERY conversation with an elder, former CO, or whomever has served at those levels and beyond.....it comes down to that.

  For the sheep and people not appointed, they seem to have a different story and line of justification, but they also are being affected by this slowly.

  Did Prince Just Say Goodbye to the Jehovah's Witnesses?

  Prince is every bit as in as he was before. The difference is that he is rich and famous. He is even guest starring on "New Girl" after the superbowl.

  Prince is an icon. He has been brought around by some of the more influencial black brothers in the organization, and in generally protected from scrutiny within that group. He isn't trying to run mikes, or be an elder. So no need to be "exemplary".

  That being said, we know he is not appreciated, other than being an ambassador for the word jehovah.

  Loyalty to Org Over Everything Else

  i'm slowly beginning to realize that the person who i love the most is more loyal to an organization above all else.

  some time ago, i wrote about how my girlfriend and i were both df'd for fornication.

  i do believe that what we did was out of line, from a biblical standpoint, and i accepted my discipline.

  Starting over.....I don't know how old you are or where you are at with your life. That being said, I once thought divorce might be inevitable even though I love my wife, simply because of the fights over religion. How it worked out is quite different. I began to not argue with her. Just to ask questions, and sincerely tell her how and why I felt things. Basically, I let her see the anguish it gave me to question my faith (and I put some extras on it).

  She eventually began to explain why she REALLY felt so defensive. At this point because of my fade, she began to be treated differently. She now has her own fade in tow, and the challenges that go with it. All of this started because we both REALLY loved each other more than anything else. On top of that, she TRUSTED me and knew that i would not leave her if she left being a JW, so why would she?

  Alot of it comes to that. If you really love her, then give her some space, go about it more methodically, and ask her to really sit down and discuss difficult things with you so that you can know where each other stands, and talk as adults reasonably.

  Then give it a go. If you love her its worth a shot. If she can't break from it mentally, then its best you move on now....rip the band-aid off.

  Someone I know wants to go back to the meetings

  i am presently fadding out and a person that i know sent me an email telling me he was going back to his meeting.

  how can i let him know that i think he probably will be better outside if he keeps trying without running the risk that he goes back and forward the email to a local elder?.

  Why not meet up with him and have atalk face to face? You can express your own feelings in a way that doesn't push, but perhaps gets him to think.

  Many people don't do well without the rigid construct they became used to. So the yearn for a "feeling" when they think they were better. They weren't probably better. Some may have been. But the point is, they think they were.

  Elder and i discussed beards, and got into rules and regulations

  during a study the elder brought out that eating blood and omens are from the devil, and brought me to leviticus 19:26 (i think).. in verse 27 i says this:.

  you must not shave the hair on the side of your head or disfigure the edges of your beard.. i said: "so why are we not allowed to have beards?".

  This really made me laugh.

  So if we allowed beards, we would have to have abunch of rules about what the beard would look like, so in order to not burden the sheep with more regulations, we just say you can't have them as a rule.

  i said i was concerned that they painted hezekiah as this champion of righteousness and how the article omitted when he paid tribute to assaria by looting the temple when he got scared.

  and apparently he had an alliance with egypt, a pagan nation.

  he said i was getting boged down with other references and missing the point.

  my wife is upstairs on the phone with her ultra nutty mom (the gb = jehovah kind of lady) begging us to get active again....or we will die at armageddon.

  Lol. Ok man chill out. Its all an opportunity. I don't know how your wife feels, but she will be emotional. Respond supportive and think it out. its the way you handle these situations specifically that can be the determining factor in how your wife gets out.

  Honestly I didn't take the "threat" of banning a web site seriously in Russia. It seems a bit overblown, and something once again to seemingly unite everyone.
