It SEEMS unreasonable that if you share a dissenting view, but publicly state you still want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.......that they would legally be able to enforce communal shunning that cuts you off from friends and love ones under threat of them themselves being shunned.

It SEEMS like a human right violation legally speaking because of the severity.

It SEEMS like harrasment, and them infringing on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

It SEEMS like letters written about you from one congregation to another, which very well may contain libel, and other files kept on you, should be available to you in the USA.

None of this however seems to actually be allowed in practice. Either someone rich enough to combat free legal representation the society uses their means to drag it out and put these theories to the test, or we may never know. Look how many failed suits there were against Scientology because it is a "religion". And Scientology quite frankly makes JW's seem totally sane. Forced abortions, forced divorce, space opera, unsubstantiated claims abounding, physical abuse......I mean what a mess.

I read a book recently that spoke about conditions at one of the Scientology "bases" where people were being beaten up and living in bad conditions. The sentence that stuck with me is this.

"People there were not being held against their will as one would think, rather it was ther will that held them there."

i love this topic.... stole it from a female talk radio host dr. sonia freeman in the chicago area decades ago.

think and post a creative (not damaging, violent, or illegal) action that would piss off those who shun us.

here is an example: many years ago when my hubby was still an elder he collected the mail for the kh.

I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?

i have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.

it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.

i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

hey i have come to love some of the discussions on here and the information.

i am currently awake and have no plans to fade, in my case i am patient enough to in time become an elder to at least help the younger friends here in my area, in the sense of helping them wake up/if elder have their back..

So just a couple questions if you feel like it. Why is fading not even a possibility? If you help others develope thinking skills, who do you think is getting the credit for that? Lastly, when these people "wake-up" what do they do? Do they remain like you? What if they do not have the same patience?

See where I am going? No judgement here bro. Like I said, its on you. But patience may not be the right word.

Hey patient-dude. I once felt as you do now. That there was more I could do on the inside teaching what was in accord with my conscience, and trying to affect posative change from the inside. I found it to be a difficult endeavor, because at some point your conscience tells you to do one thing, and your religion another. It is at that point that your integrity can come into question. What good are we if our integrity can be flushed away in order to maintain eldership?

I respect and admire those here who stay in for the sake of getting information out. I hope you will contribute here as well.

Welcome. Good palce to bounce frustration off people, so you don't do anything crazy out in the real world.

The ECF's were not extremely consistant in my opinion. Of course, how could they be in the times they were in. I am certainly no fan of the SYBT brochure. The ECF's in general seemed to contradict themselves sometimes without the help of WT manipulation.

Ok so you said you didn't talk to anyone but some elders. So you could say the following. You brought some questions of faith to the "older men" as instructed by scripture. You're conscience will not allow you to serve currently, so you would like to step down.

If someone wants to get SPECIFIC......do not let them. Do not open up. Do not be fooled. Just stick to your, "personal reasons" diatribe. If the CO wants to meet with you, and it will keep you from gettings DF'd, go for it. Just make sure you stick to your guns. You were discussing questions of faith with the older men and that is all. You are content to wait on Jehovah. You would like to step down for "personal reasons".

That is all. Do not be baited further, and do not get emotional about it. Let us know how we can help. You are among friends.

Curious About My Disfellowshipping.

i recently read an interesting thread (is there a 'third' way to leave?

) that talked about fading instead of being df'd or da'd.

i myself had planned to fade, but was df'd instead.

I am wondering if in the US if one can request their "records" and all written correspondance contained therin without having to request them as a result of discovery for a legal case or something along those lines.

In other words, can you just ask, and legally they have to give you what they have, or is it something considered private they do not have to avail themselves of?
