We just got back, it was great! The audiences applauded at the end too - and at the beginning. The theater was packed. I can't wait for the DVD so I can catch all of the details.

i just read luckylucy's thread and wanted to tell my story.
i also want to ask a question: why are women who have children viewed more favorably than women who don't?
especially if the choice is to not have children.

I commend your point of view and I can't stand when people insist on knowing why someone doesn't have or doesn't want children or think they have a duty to 'God and country' or to their parents or in-laws to procreate. Anyone who chooses to remain childless for any reason should be commended for it. If you don't think you would be a good mother then you are doing your children a service by NOT having them. [Strange logic, but I hope you get my drift.]
I have two kids whom I love dearly, but motherhood is a constant, unending battle. Yes it's rewarding, my children make me laugh and they make me very proud, they also make me want to tear my hair out sometimes. My DH and I have given up a lot financially and freedom wise and while I would not trade my chidlren for anything I have the utmost respect for people who are childless by choice.

My DH and I are going tonight to see Chamber of Secrets - can't wait! My kids are staying with my parents, just because I think the movie is a little too intense for them and and too long for them to sit still through the whole thing. We bought the original on DVD and they love it, but we can stop it for potty breaks when necessary. I wish they were old enough to read the books.

a friend of mine recommended i peruse this forum because he is of the impression i would find it rewarding.
the basis of his recommendation was due to a very long friendship and not due to any association (that i do not have) with jehovahs witnesses.
he considers me his superior in intellect and wants an appraisal of this sight but to be honest i have neither the incliniation nor the time to get in deep enough to comment.

the new star trek movie, "nemesis" is premiering on december 13, 2002. i am really looking forward to it.
although i grew up with the original, i must admit to a certain fondness for the next generation and to captain picard.

I grew up with Classic Trek, but I think Picard is a better captain than Kirk, he's more dignified. I also liked Janeway but I wasn't a big DS9 fan. I watch 'Enterprise' cause it's there, and I like Trip but I don't much care for Archer. [or T'Pol - no offense logical]

i think everyone has had an experience with deja vu; i know i have and it's really freaky when it happens.
i'll be standing there talking to someone and that feeling comes over me that i've done this before; i've had the exact same conversation with this person and i can even predict what they're going to say.. with someone i know, that's one thing; having this experience with someone i've never met before is really bizarre.. i've heard all kinds of theorys as to what deja vu is: a "delay" in the brain, reincarnation, someone in the future has changed the past and we sometimes 'repeat' things, it's all in your head, it's satan.......... i'd be interested to hear what sort of experiences you've had with deja vu and what you think it is........ .

'pagan' just refers to those not yet christianized.

it's a 'catch-all' phrase.

Here, here! I second that. I can't stand seeing the word 'pagan' used by fundys to denote anything they see as having a close association with evil. It could not be farther from the truth. I consider 'Pagan' to be the name of my religion and whenever anyone uses it in a derogatory manner I like to ask them if they used the same phrase but replaced 'pagan' with 'Jew' how well they would come across to society - their rhetoric would not be tolerated for an instant then.

i'm getting that religious people realllly get on my nerves - no matter how "well meaning" they are.
i read in one of the posts some advice to the newly "ex'd" and i appreciated it, especially the point how other's may want to "save" you now that you've left your religion.. get this... i work with 2 born-agains and my boss is a mormon.
they've all made some comments about that "i shouldn't let this experience destroy my faith in jesus" (tolerable, assuming i believed in him) however, one co-worker has a new zeal for her born-again faith and has raised many topics with me because she respects my opinion.

I know exactly how you feel. The worst are the people who win the lottery and the first thing they do is thank God for answering their prayers. It makes me want to slap them and remind them that if they truly believed in their God they'd be scared to death to win the lottery, since HE suppsedly doesn't let rich people into heaven.

i am a coptic orthodox christian right now, and i am good friends with a witness.
unfortunately, i didnt know enough about my own religion before i started listening to my friend and i am starting to question my faith.

It is not right. Please stick around and read some of the accounts of people here, you will see the way JWs twist scripture to their own end. If you feel the faith you have been in is not right for you, the best thing to do is to study several others, not just the Watchtower doctrine. If you believe that you should have a personal relationship with your creator, you don't need the Watchtower to intercede for you or tell you how to live your life. If your friend is truly a friend he will understand this and give you room to explore your true feelings about faith.
