i just found out that i could easily break into my own home...... .
my husband is out of town and i went out to get the morning paper.
i always go thorough the garage to the end of the driveway....problem is i locked the door between the garage and the laundry room in the middle of the night!!
It's amazing more homes aren't broken into. Years ago my mother and I locked ourselves out and between the two of us we wrestled an air conditioner out of a bedroom window and I climbed in.
Another good bit of advice is if you lock yourself out, make sure your kids are willing to let you back in. My son wanted to see ID when I locked myself out trying to get the paper a few months ago.

most articles in the publications recommended physical punishment, (corporal) when disciplining children.
the scripture says that "he will not die" if you beat him.
so many parents literally beat their children.
The scripture says that "he will not die" if you BEAT him.
Yet another bit of false information from the Bible. How often do we see reports in the news of children who are beaten to death. One more clue that the scripture is a load of manure.

a young woman i work with, and her husband, have been trying unsucessfully for three years to conceive a child.
she first took fertility drugs and then went for artificial insemination.
those methods have failed and now they are proceeding with in-vitro.
Hi all,
I don't really know how I would deal with someone in your co-worker's position. I did not have any trouble getting pregnant with either of my children and I can't imagine what it must be like to want a child and not be able to have one.
I think adoption is an alternative that a lot of people don't consider because they feel they have a right to have their own biological child. I don't necessarily agree that that is a right. By the same token everyone has a right to two working legs, eyes, ears, hands, etc, and some people have to learn to live without those things. If you cannot have a biological child I think at some point it becomes time to accept that it's just not going to happen and move on - either with adoption or foster care, or some other alternative even if that alternative is learning to like being childless.
I think if someone is willing to spend that much money on fertility treatments that's their decision. However I strongly disagree that medical insurance should cover more than one round of any fertility treatment. Some people can't afford insurance for necesasry medical care and fertility treatments drive up the already ridiculous cost of insurance. I apologize to anyone I may offend, but I'm very much against medical insurance covering fertility treatments especially since only now is it starting to cover birth control. There is a double standard there that I don't think is acceptable.
Joanna, as far as the McCoy's - their situation enrages me. I agree with how ludicrous it sounds - God's will that they have seven children! Please. What bothered me about the situation is their first child wasn't even a year old when Bobbie concevied the septuplets. Most doctors would tell a woman to wait at least a year before trying to conceive again - or before even worrying about not being able to conceive again. I think Bobbie was greedy and her greed has cost at least two of her children their health. Two of the children have developmental problems and I've seen interviews with Bobbie and I think she seems rather harried by the task of raising 8 children. She got much more than she bargained for and I think she needed a swift kick more than she needed seven babies.
Sorry for the rant,

i wanted to try out the new "system" simon has created for us so i thought i would ask a question that's been bugging me for a while.. "field service reports" - is this the correct terminology for the 'time sheets' a jw fills out to show how much time they spend going door to door?
what's bugging me is how do jws justify needing to fill out these 'time sheets?
' it would seem to me that god/jehovah would know how much time someone spent in service to him, and therefore not need a piece of paper to prove how dedicated someone was.
Hi all,

What's bugging me is how do JWs justify needing to fill out these 'time sheets?' It would seem to me that God/Jehovah would KNOW how much time someone spent in service to Him, and therefore not need a piece of paper to prove how dedicated someone was. If the time sheets go to the elders or are kept on file as a record of how dedicated someone is - doesn't that seem more like having to prove yourself to the organization rather than to God who would certianly not need a written record of anything?
Did anyone here, while they were a JW, ever question the need for time sheets?

during the fairly lengthy time that i have been coming to the board i have noticed that a number of people here are self employed and some also employ others.. if you do employ other people, or if you have an opinion, do you find that religious belief makes any difference to work ethics?
by that i mean are people with a firm religious belief likely to be more honest, conscientious and reliable that those without (christian or otherwise)?.
i do have a reason for asking this question.
Hello link,
I have to say that choosing an employee based on their religion is a huge moral mistake. As a private employer of course, you can do whatever you want, but the moment you ask someone what religion they are in a job interview, you've opened yourself up to some serious legal issues.
If you are looking for someone who is honest, hard working and conscientious ask for business and personal references and follow up on them. That's still no guarantee, but you have to take your chances like everyone else in this world.
Obviously if Catholic priests can be pedophiles, and JWs can harbor them, and Muslims can be terrorists - choosing someone based on their religion isn't any wiser than choosing someone based on how many jelly beans they can stuff up their nose.

what would it take for islamic extremists to give up on terror attacks against the west?
the u.s. to completely leave the middle east to it's own devices?.
u.s. become isolationist nation and not have foreign policy?.
While it's possible that there might have been some legitimacy to the grievances of the muslims and the terrorists - all that legitimacy went out the window on September 11th. Violence is not the answer to their problems - it wasn't the answer then and it won't be the answer now. Instead of standing up like the human beings they are SUPPOSED to be and asking for help, demanding change, etc, they killed innocent people. Their causes don't matter any more, their suffering [real or imagined] in the past has been for naught because they damned themselves, their people and their religion with the senseless acts of that day. Their future suffering is meaningless now because they stooped to the level of animals to make their point. It's a damn shame, but any problems they have from this point on, are their own fault.

Darn it but if I wasn't a Pagan, I'd be grabbing a copy of the Torah and converting to Judiasm as I type this. Go Israel - I'm going to go out and get an I LOVE ISRAEL button right NOW!!!

When will bin Laden not hate us?
When he's dead.
Can't wait.

the scene:.
you are alone with bin laden and saddam.
you have a gun, fully loaded.
First of all - how many bullets constitutes 'fully loaded'? I'd use them in some creative ways before disposing of the garbage in the room. I wouldn't make tea until after I'd used up a few rounds.
In regards to unblebruce's statement: "Bin Laden is fanatic but has many legitimate grievances against the west."
There is nothing legitimate about bin Laden except the lice in his filthy beard.
