Most of the time there is no paper in the hall's printer. More expenses means less money for the big wigs! ...Sounds so much like a corporation doesn't it?

An increase in security at this summer's conventions??
by gingerbread inwe've heard from friends in two separate congregations in our city that convention security will be tight.. the brothers made announcements this week and reminded everyone to be sure to wear their name badges.
those that don't may be questioned and have their belongings searched.
the same will be happen to anyone arriving during the sessions.

In most stadiums they will have their own security and police enforcement. The JW can't do anything about it, it's a city ordinance or the venue's policy, since the International conventions will be held in major NFL stadiums, you can expect some of this security searches just like you would be searched when you attend major sporting events.
The attendants will not be doing the searching, their training (there's a video showing them what to do and so on) does not include any security searches and stuff.

On this week's KM:
"A pioneer in Brazil tells people: “Why not findout more about the Bible’s contents? Many people are doing this with an open mind, with no obligation to any religious affiliation. You may be surprised by what you learn.”
This pioneer is obviously been in JWN and passed his message under the Borg's eyes directly to the rest of the flock. Who would suggest such a thing, to study without any obligation to any religious afiiliation? Don't they know you need the Watchtower to find out more about the Bible? Wait... maybe they do and that's why this pioneer brother said you'll be surprised by what you learn.

Cost of new Kingdom Halls?
by Blttex ini have been told that the cost to build a new kingdom hall is $500k +.
i have a background in commercial construction and this seems pretty high to me, considering all the free labor.
that is just the cost of the building, excluding the lot price.

Blondie, I've seen where they pass a small piece of paper where the rank and file would indicate how much they could contribute at once or monthly. They did this recently that I know of and it seems to be a consistent practice.
I can see this being effective as the joyful brothers commit to an amount written in paper just to be reminded of their resolution if they don't cough it up later on. And if they ever decide to try to take back what they paid for...well you know what happens with their own bulding that they paid for.

There was a meeting a few weeks ago in Denton, TX. They whent over some plans to build new kingdom halls because the need was greater and so on.
The info was that the Borg is tyring to build 1500 new kingdom halls in the next few years at a cost of around $750k a pop. They built some 350 in the past few years and are asking for more money to complete their builds.
How about the Borg displacing a few pennies from their recent real state sale in NY??

Do you look like the apostate they warned you about?
by Angus Beef inafter waking up and wanting to get out of this nightmare, the word apostate is really bothering me.
if i quitely become inactive, fade away will i just be looked at as "always weak".
i want to scream out how big a fool i was.. and now telling my poor young daughter how wrong i was to bring her up as a jw.

Hi, my name is Maybeso and I am an apostate...
The term used to scare me and I used to think the worst of people that would dare talk against Jehovah... If I knew then what I know now.

Thinking of taking a break from this forum
by yadda yadda 2 instarting to feel my time is wasted on here lately and its time to move on.. some of the best, meaty stuff only gets a few hundreds views and as soon as the posts dry up a bit the thread is soon forgotten (usually in a few days) under the constantly falling snowflakes of new threads (many trival) continuously being created and popping up as 'active topics'.
the same core jw related subjects then keep reappearing over and over again as new threads without getting a thorough treatment at the time (eg, there must be at least one 'are jw's a cult' thread started each week on here; 'new light' topics get about 20 new threads started with the quality of analysis spread and diluted over all of them.).
anyone else tend to feel the same way at times?.

Let's be honest y'all... If your thread is really that important it will be searched and commented on for many years coming. It doesn't matter if your pride gets hurt by not getting all the comments and views you feel your thread is worth getting.
I've used the search function for than I can remember to find topics not recently posted or discussed. If your thread is meaningful to help and aid those who are truly wanting to know TTAT and get help on other things, be sure your thread (if truly meaningful and helpful) will aid others in their search for freedom or whatever else they are looking to attain.
I for one appreciate all the many topics and threads, even if repeated. You never know what difference you'll make on others, a lot of you guys have helped me more than you can imagine.
...just my two cents

Lurkers and Apologists, can you please explain.....
by DATA-DOG in..from the scriptures why.... 1) material wealth is a sign of jehovah's blessing in our modern day.. 2) why jehovah blesses the growth of chicken populations, but allows active jehovah's witnesses to die in field service, or on the way to conventions, and on the way to celebrate the memorial?
3) why jesus is not your mediator?
bibles and a concordance only.
