The response to people complaining they have been offended should be to be more offensive.

Welcome to the UK, where sharing a meme can get you arrested
by LoveUniHateExams iner, yes, i'm not kidding.
if you share anything deemed 'grossly offensive' online you will be standing in a court before a judge if someone is offended, wets their pants, and complains.. some policeman in devon shared a meme of george floyd (not particularly nice, but illegal?!
) in a whatsapp message to his mates, some of whom were coppers, some not.. and someone complained and he's been arrested.. first: yes, george floyd memes are highly likely to offend at least some people.

AstraZeneca Vaccine For Canadians
by Vanderhoven7 inthe usa is "selling" us canadians huge shipments of the astrazeneca vaccine.
i wonder why they ordered them in the first place if they are not needed in the us.. http://sciencenorway.no/covid19/norwegian-experts-say-deadly-blood-clots-were-caused-by-the-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine/1830510.

Trudeau will take it, the vaccine plan here has been an utter shambles because he was late ordering it and didn't order enough. His first plan was to order it from China. This is what you get when you elect a drama teacher as "leader".
The US vaccinates more people in a day than Canada has in total.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the AZ vaccine, the stats on issues doesn't amount to any proof of any issue but politicians have used it as a football and would rather see people unvaccinated if it means they get to score some points.

Do You Support The Death Penalty ?
by minimus indo you support the death penalty or do you think the worst punishment should be incarceration?.
-
Simon
You know that serial killers are quite rare and executing them won't do much for crime statistics
But it says a lot about how society thinks of their crimes and also stops them playing and oversized role on public perception.
Really, the amount of air-time given to these people is ridiculous and can only risk creating more copy-cats.
But there are way more mass killers and people who have committed heinous crimes than the "star" names that Netflix obsess over.

There needs to be equity in the law. If people can face the death penalty when convicted, then someone causing a wrongful conviction through presenting false evidence or suppressing exculpatory evidence should face the same fate.
In general I support it for convictions with 100% conclusive evidence and zero doubt, where the crime is heinous and terrible and the person deserves to play no part in socity.

Yeah, the AtraZeneca vaccine suspension reeks of politics more than science. The EU doesn't want to be seen to have been dependent on the UK.
To have 30 people develop some symptom out of 17 million means that if anything the vaccine reduced the rate rather than increased it as you'd expect far more people to just develop it anyway out of that many.
Personally, I like the look of the J&J vaccine simply because you only have to make one trip. Here in Canada it's completely fucked up and they are trying to cover their ineptitude by claiming that you don't need the 2nd dose of the 2-dose vaccines anyway, to stretch things out. Doesn't seem to be "follow the science" to not follow the damn label.
Ultimately, they all reduce the probability that you will contract Covid and also reduce the symptoms of it if you do. So there is still value to social distancing and mask wearing even if you are vaccinated in order to reduce spread, especially while not everyone will have had the vaccine - it would be unfair for those who have benefitted from early vaccination to also then possibly put others at greater risk.

Would you leave the Watchtower if you woke up at age 80 plus, or just stay in for the rest of your life.
by pistolpete inso yesterday while i was doing some work for a customer, i noticed the wt mags on the sofa.
and i asked the elderly man if he was a jehovah witness?.
he said that he and his wife and all his children were raised in the religion, but only he and his wife attend the meetings or zoom.

Yeah, that's tough. I think overall it would probably be better to keep the friends and associates you have, but just limit how much you invest in the religion itself (both time and money).
Leaving at that age would always leave you wondering how your partner would cope if they were left on their own vs the support they would get from the congregation. Regardless of the truth of it all or not, there are often nice people who do their best for people in the local congregation.

So many great quotes, he didn't always say things perfectly or make sense but you always knew what he meant and above all else, his enthusiasm for the sports he covered was impossible to ignore.

Harry, Meghan the Royal Apostates
by Slidin Fast ini just watched the oprah interview.
i know that many view them with little interest as just entitled wastes of space and i get that.. however, the description of how they were "trapped" and silenced and forced into perpetuating the system with little or no personal freedom rang bells for me.
they are effectively shunned, estranged and disparaged by their family and cut off from support.

When I heard the stories of hardship from those poor unfortunate millionaires and billionaire, my heart broke for them and I honestly nearly wept.
And the poor black child, who will face so much prejudice growing up simply because of the blackness of his skin ...
Wait a minute, that's a honky kid! He's whiter than me FFS! WTF?

How Do You Feel About Completely Open Borders?
by minimus inwhether you are in the usa or another country, are you for it or against it?.
-
Simon
Every border and rule is what ultimately protects you in your home.
If you start dismantling them then at some point, you lose the right and ability to own your own property and with it any expectation that you can live your own life on your own terms.
Just because the first domino may be hundreds or thousands of miles away doesn't mean that it won't affect you.
Initially it affects you with wage suppression and higher taxes, but eventually your personal liberties are at risk.
