I think the real cause of these problems is that there must be a copy of Wife running somewhere which, if left unchecked, will take up all the system resources and can frequently cause instability and crashes (particularly noticeable with Driving Simulators).
It is normally loaded at system startup and has access to all other applications, many of which it can take direct control of as well.
It does have issues if you try to run any copy of Girlfriend, Mistress or NiceWomanAtWork with it unless they are set to run in their own protected memory space and hidden from view but this is very tricky to manage effectively and best left to professionals.
Also, most versions of Wife have a default setting which means it will attempt to dial the host Mother-In-Law site at least once a day for updates and notifications - this can affect Internet dialup software especially as the modem will report 'No Dial Tone'.
My advice?
Keep Wife installed - it is a good package and well worth investing in a few upgrades for. There are several expansion packs now available such as CookBook and NightGames which really improve performance, and are well worth splashing out on. Don't bother with any of the cheaper alternatives such as Mistress because you will be on a constant upgrade path and it works out very expensive.
I'm not going to uninstall my favourite app. though - Beer is best !
I've a feeling this will end up a long, long thread...

Sickening abuse case in the UK
by Simon ini'm sure anyone in the uk will have heard about the poor little 8 year old girl who was subjected to appalling abuse and killed.. i just feel so angry right now...how could so many police, doctors, social workers let her down and fail to act when the signs were so clear and pointed out to them?.
what are they there for, for goodness sake?.
they should all be sacked for incompetence and failing to do what they get well paid for.

I'm not sure about color being an issue - the police officer and social worker who failed to visit the child were both black whereas the doctor that reported the abuse was white. I think it was just a case of incredible incompetence which, in my opinion, is inexcusable for people in that position.
Seems like the police have more important things to do like fine speeding motorists.
It's very disturbing that something like this could happen. I think it's about time that we had some decent retribution available. The sentences for the 7 peodophiles also in the news was just 2 - 3 years. What is going on?
I believe the majoity of people would welcome the detah penalty for such extreme crimes against such defenseless and vulnerable people. -

...and of course the perpetrators were just good CHRISTIAN people simply trying to remove Satan from the poor child. [>:(]
Doesn't it always seem to be religious people who do all the killing?
I HATE all the crap that liberal do-gooders come out with, we should have the death penalty back.
I would vote for it.
I would press the button, pull the switch...
After all, it's what GOD wants...look, it says so in the bible... -

yeldell2:
You joined this forum of your own free will.
You were free to read existing posts before you joined.
You had the option of hiding your email address but choose not to (and still haven't).
You posted messages requesting[/i] the people email you.
You received many posts of encouragement and support.
You were extremely rude to other posters and were 'reprimanded' for it (quite rightly in my opinion).
Do you really, honestly[/i] think that the people at AOL will:
a) think that you have any kind of real complaint? and
b) be able to do anything about a totally independant web site anyway?
I get the impression that you are in a bit of turmoil at the moment and you really need to sort yourself out. I do understand what you are going through - when I first started finding things out about the society it made me angry initially at the people who were providing the information. I even defaced some 'apostate' web-sites (oh the shame!) but I have since realised that these people were helping me and I now owe them a great deal of thanks.
I hope you work things out for yourself and are happy. -

When should you Disassociate yourself?
by happytobefree ini have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

I wouldn't rush into anything...although you may feel that you want to write one now you may feel quite differently in 6 months time and would regret it if you had.
As has already been said - it is one of their rules and is very convenient to them but just brings the pain of being shunned on you. -

All my life...
by SixofNine in....i have always heard the term, "dedication", used as part and parcle of the term/act of baptism.
you know, "dedication and baptism".. just recently, i've been wondering, why?
it's not that i don't believe dedicating oneself to jehovah is a noble thing, i'm just wondering what the reasoning is for formally linking dedication with baptism.. have i missed something really simple here?

You're right trevor, all the pioneers in our hall were window cleaners and the same in all the halls I knew. Imagine how dirty everyones windows would be if it wasn't for the WTB&TS. See, they have done *some* good...
Seems the latest thing is gardening - a lot belong to some company which is run by brothers (probably being ripped off but hey, you don't have to work for 'evil worldly people')- Simon
