That makes me think it was HIM using the John Redwood account to downvote comments critical of him. Because the other guy has severed ties with him, so it would be weird for him to then be voting in his favour.

Isn't it crazy though - for all the criticism and accusations the thing he objects to is the suggestion he's using a green screen?!?

Trying to mislead his audience of course by not mentioning the real issues to them. But Lloyd, so you're clear, we're critical of you for treating so many people badly, using and discarding people (including victims of CSA), dividing the exJW community and turning it into a money making scheme to profit from people, many of them victims of abuse.

Also, your poor personal morals - contributing to the sex trade which is directly responsible for the misery of millions of people. The credible accusations that you have committed real sex crimes. Plus treating your wife like crap (but that's her lookout - she may just be with you for the money ... do you get a kick out of controlling women with $$$ ?)

Yeah, it does 2 things - it dilutes the real issues and it makes people look like they are too eager to find things wrong.

Let's not turn into Lloyd where he squints really hard to contrive something wrong with the WTS, but us doing it with him.

There are plenty of legitimate things to criticize him over and to warn people about. Video setup is not one of them. It's counter productive.

Sure if his wife kicked him out it would be mildly news-worthy and hardly surprising but trying to make out this proves that has happened is a real stretch.

I'm not sure about the "green screen" thing, I think it's a mistake to focus on things that are of little real importance. Sure, the videos look a little odd, like he's a cardboard cutout ... but that's just his act! (boom-tish, LOL)

Changes in video quality could be todo with not having some volunteer skivvy to do post-processing work for free and the process changing as a result. Who knows (who cares?)

Are nearly six hundred former Witnesses really that hungry for justification that they support gross behavior and misuse of funds?

You get weird psychology at play. People don't like to admit they have been duped, so when they are, they become even more ardent supporters.

Not like that weird group that thought the end-times were happening in 1914 and disbanded when they didn't. Oh, wait ...

There's a market for people who want to hear bad things said about the WTS. Just like those with TDS would tune and and whoop and holler at late night "comedians" who simply made insulting comments about Trump. Nothing clever. Nothing funny. But lots of people acting like it's the best thing ever broadcast.

Yeah, I get keeping old books as a reference, but not in a display case that suggests they are some holy treasured possession. It is truly bizarre.

I remember as a child watching the bizarre scene where the speaker and attendants would pass them back and forth to each other.

Like, dude, you have just been going down each row being handed it from the one in front and passing it to the next behind, but you think that doesn't count as a legit handoff ... so you have to do "to me, to you" handover like the Chuckle Brothers?

I guess though the bible does describe Jesus taking the wine, passing it to Judas, and saying "This means my blood, and now you have to give it back to me so I can give it back to you again before you pass it on" and Judas saying "WTF is wrong with you?"

i just had an incredible phone conversation with a long-time jw who has strong "q-anon" "sovereign citizen" beliefs.

the wife(first gen) says she is not surprised.

Refuting the Alleged Evidence of Jesus' Resurrection

in the past few months there have been a few debates on this site over alleged evidence of the resurrection of jesus.

this can be a hot topic as most would agree that without the resurrection of jesus there would be no christianity.

i am not so sure of that, but i am more sure that dr. gary habermas' minimal facts approach to the resurrection has no evidentiary basis.. here is a 22 minute video on the topic.

Re: any "evidence" for Jesus.

The closer you get to Jesus supposed existence, the less mention of him there is. This includes editions of books where the mentions were obviously later additions.

Even the supposed gospel accounts were often written 70+ years after the events claiming to happen.

It's just laughable that anyone takes this as evidence of something.

How many here turned Athiest or did not and why??

me i slowly came to see religion was a crutch we use to dream of a better "afterlife"....i feel half my life was wasted building an organisation that had no criminal mastermind behind it...just alot of mislead people looking for leadership.

I don't think I ever believed it. I was conditioned to repeat the mantra but it was never real to me. "God" just seemed like all the other "gods" ... an invention, stories.

What leaving and learning more about the bible did was give me a basis and confidence that religion is just a man-made invention for power and control.

But I recognize that religion can be beneficial to some. For whatever reason, some people need some framework to operate in and some authority telling them what is right and wrong. Sometimes it's dangerous and open to abuse, sometimes it works.

I think militant atheism is a mistake - not only can it be damaging, but it's also not often convincing if the aim really is to "help" people trapped in religion. I think the point is often an excuse for someone to be a jerk to people they don't like and pretend they have some moral high-ground.
