JG has a point...... when I was Catholic, and all the Catholics I know, will tell you: they don't worship Mary. Mary is honored, respected and praised as a woman to exemplify, a woman of faith and one that can hopefully intercede for humans. In recalling the Wine at Cana episode, she interceded on behalf of the couple. Catholics believe that only God or Jesus can help them. We used to believe that Mary could plead your case when you were too embarrassed to talk to God or Jesus about it, especially about female things (ie losing a baby, wanting a baby, suffering)

Help and suggestions
by JG ini just got off of the phone with my wife, and she's been researching my beliefs (catholic) and wants to discuss what she's found.
several subjects like marion worship, sacrifice of the mass etc.
i told her sure i'll discuss them with you, but i get equal time to discuss problems with your religion.. to make a short story long she agreed but she wants me to discuss important things things i fear may put her in jeapordy spiritually.

I may get a visit from the P.O. :(
by crownboy ini think i may have a potential problem on my hand.
over the last year or so, i've been attempting to go the slow fade route with the jw religion.
for the most part i've succeded, as my significant decrease in jw related activities has been greeted only by brief "pep talks" by my parents at worse.

I would not avoid meeting with them. That would spark more trouble.
I would listen, keep my mouth shut, nod and tell them you've been tired, busy, etc. Maybe say you'll try to be more regular at the Sunday meeting for now. Tell them "baby steps" for now. Then do what you want. You can't be forced to DA and they can't DF you if you aren't confessing to stuff, etc.

Secret Letters and files
by simplesally init still bothers me very much that they are allowed to keep files on us and that we have no right to see the contents.
they can choose to look at them or destroy them, whatever they wish, but our wishes about a file with our name on it, about our lives is not unavailable.
when you change halls a letter is written about you to the next group of men in black.

When you change halls a letter is written about you to the next group of Men in Black. You are not allowed to read it before it is sent and unless you really know the elder who wrote it, you probably won't know what it said at all. I had one elder, my good friends husband tell me NO I couldn't know but it was all good, but its confidential. Another body had such a nice letter written and the elder who wrote it did read it to me. However, one body of elders wrote a "not so nice" letter about me when I changed halls since I didn't agree with them about several things and decided I was changing halls. I never found out what they said but cleared it up with the new hall who understood what I was going through and what my disgruntles were about. They also, frankly, agreed with me.
I think that secrecy should not be part of the Borganization. You should know exactly what is said about you, not behind your back stuff!!

Hollywood Therapy
by Cicatrix inokay, hittin the wall now.the downs are more common than the up days at this early point.i read about post cult trauma syndrome, so i understand now why i feel numb, then angry, then weepy all in a nanosecond, like i'm gazing out of a fishbowl at a distorted world, why i'm having nightmares about congregation members.why my brain feels like a fried egg.why i want to run back to the only life i've known for 20 years, even though the thought of stepping foot inside of a kingdom hall causes me to panic.. sooo, can anyone recommend any good movies to rent to help me process some of this?.
i watched matrix twice, after i saw it mentioned on the discussion board.wow!how chilling.it's funny-i watched this movie while still a wavering dub and it disturbed me.now i know why.. i also like chocolat, the scarlet letter (i'm sending my da letter in a red envelope hehe), and the wall(plan to rent this again ).. i'm reading 1984.. i know i probably shouldn't be so focused on this-i need to start getting out there and finding the positive, and some days i manage to do that, but right now i seem to have a need to try and make sense of it all.. any more suggestions?.

It says before onlookers, it says at the city gates...... if their cases were a little more public (if the person wanted it that way) then the elders would weigh their decisions more carefully. The masses would pressure them to be more understanding and a little less self righteous and smug.

SINCE WHEN DO THE JC'S openly violate the "rules" of the bible??? The headship principle!! Since when is the husband not invited to the jc of his wife?? You know, she is his property according to them.
When I requested a meeting separate from my husband, the answer was a resounding "no"!!!!!!
