  since i disassociated myself, i am shunned by my j.w.siblins.

  People only have the power over you that you give them. Don't give them that power. Take it back.

  My sister has not spoken to for me 3 years and doesn't let anyone talk about news of me when they are with her. They are not even allowed to mention my name in conversation or my dad said she gets a mad face. At first, I always inquired of her and her family. My parents would fill me in and my dad would even take pictures of the boys and send them to me. But after almost 3 years of her shunning me, I am through.

  My mom recently "shut me down" when I talked of my dad (they are divorced) and said she didn't want to hear about him or hear what he had to say about my cute daughter. When she said "you'll understand someday" .... I said, "I do. But I put up with it. You always tell me about Kerry and her kids but I say nothing. I listen. But you can't talk about me to her. Like I did something wrong???? So, from now on, don't tell me about her. Never mention her name in front of me.

  I am shunning her now. I told my dad, I hope I die first so she can be depressed for having done this, so she can have a huge regret in her life.

  (My sister is angry that my mom lent me money and didn't charge me interest......but years ago lent her money and did charge her, so instead of being mad at mom or understanding why mom lent me money in that manner, she shuns me.......... Oh and she said when I was 8 and she was 6, I was mean to her!! LOL

  i have been informed on good authority (a dub for 27 years) that you cannot get disfelowshiped for committing a wrongdoing, only for being unrepentant.. can anyone tell me if this is true or not, and if it is not where the misunderstanding comes from?

  What the big joke is: how in the heck do they KNOW if you are or aren't!! One person may be "stoic" in nature, not crying, just admitting what they did, saying sorry and hope that their words are believed.

  What is terrible, is that even tho you say you are sorry during the meeting, they df you and because of that...they also in effect are calling you a liar. They don't believe you. Or they don't want to believe you.

  On the other hand, you have someone who has practised the art of conning and crying and they get to stay.

  This is why to me, the disfellowshipping process is a crock of you know what. They really should do as they say and leave it in Jehovah's hands, let Jehovah work it out. If they want to oust people, they should just oust the ones that want to be ousted. I just think they cut off their own noses despite their face.

  school, got baptized, and started working the midnight shift, i went out in service

  everyday with the morning group

  i loved it because going out enabled me to get to know the friends

  It only bothered me when they made such assinine comments and weren't towing the line..... ie.. speaking of pioneering and yet they nor their family made no effort.

  Usually, the young brothers, just quickly led the day text and asked for comments, asked who had pre-arranged groups or studies and then said prayer. This way he didn't have to do the arranging and we could help him without overstepping the arrangement.

  TWICKENHAM CONVENTION

  does anyone remember attending the district conventions at twickenham stadium in london?

  big north east south and west stands that were made of what looked like green corragated metal.

  i can always remember the delicious smell of coffee, doughnuts and bacon rolls, and queing up with 5p meal vouchers whilst dribbling all over my songbook.

  I attended the 1993 Convention held there. We were in England for 3 weeks and that was a nice experience. For me, I was used to indoor conventions, as you know, this was outdoors and we had to bring umbrellas, which we used! It was unusual to see sisters as "attendants" for the elderly. Nice provision. And they served tea to the elderly during the whole program, which they never have here in the States. The elderly were much more taken care of and given the honor for gray headedness than here.

  ok everyone....i have noticed that there are a few other religions out there similar to the jw's.....for example...i have a friend who has a sister that who belongs to a non-denominational christian church.....she feels that her church is the "only way" to god...and also too it seems as though she looks down on anyone who does not go to her church....they have weekly bible studies on monday or tuesday nights...they even have a "field service" in which they go out to neighbors trying to get them to come to that particular church....does anyone else out there know about the other ones similar to the jw?

  The International Bible Students. They were followers of Russell and did not take the name Jehovah's Witnesses, rather retained that name when Rutherford (I think) decided to change the name.

  Yes, but that don't treat publishers that way! Even if your "sin" was "some years ago" and you don't tell, they say you were lying every day you didn't tell. That you were hiding from Jehovah, hiding from discipline. Not only do you get reproved, you get df'd because you didn't tell.
