un resolution to ban religion

when i read this at first and then looked at the web site.

i thought oh no, what have i done.

but now, i'm thinking it was just a matter of time before someone attempted the unachievable.

Very much correct, but you can see the WTBS headlines (and mis quoting) should the UN even "consider" the resolution as attempted by these idiots...

How can you have "Freedom of choice" and a "ban on public display" in the same concept?

un proposal: i picked up a comment on another site about a supposed resolution that was to be introduced to the un on january 27th, 2004 that would effectively ban religion.

if this is true, then the jw leaders (governing buzzards) and their followers will have a prophetic field day!!!

ok, I don't think it is the "UN" vs religion, but a group that is trying to get a resolution into the UN for the UN to pass... very different...

They are attempting to get the UN to pass a resolution banning religion... IMHO, very different than the UN moving on it's own in this regaurd...

I seem to remember that the society did in fact release a copy of the Finished Mystery without the offending pages to appease the government for a time... is that also true? (I even think it is referenced in the Divine Pourpose book)

and apparently "dear jesus" prayers are okay!

the watch tower says i can say, "dear jesus, you are my mediator as you are for all mankind..." "the bible clearly says that jesus christ is mankind's redeemer, so he is mankind's mediator.

Because here, in this forum, people are free to discuss and question the doctorines of the WTBS. More importantly, here members are free to disagree OPENLY with such doctorines.

The WTBS has a long standing history of disfellowshipping people for questioning it's "authority" on doctrines such as this...

And, as others have stated, they brought this scrutiny on themselves by stating that they are "God's Spokesperson"... if that were the case, then doctrines, such as this one, should not change over the course of time... this would, IMHO count as one of those "truths" that is not a conciense matter.

You would need to check the records for the "Steadily Increasing" part. I think if you honestly look at it, they are "barely holding on" and are largely decreasing.

But largely they ignore the external scrutiny, and primarily they completely silence all internal scrutiny, this is not, IMHO, "standing up to scrutiny"... Ignoring it or silencing it is not the answer.

But there is a more recent quote that specifically states that Jesus is not the mediator for all mankind, correct?

If so, wouldn't this be a more impressive bit of new vs. old light? Especially considering that htey "realized" the seperate classes (annointed vs. other sheep) in 1935?

well my weekly bible study is coming up this week and i am being blessed with the cuircut servant and his wife.i was told last week to save all my questions for them,(beacause of my difficulty with believing in 1914).

does anyone have a question that they would like me to ask.. .

well my weekly bible study is coming up this week and i am being blessed with the cuircut servant and his wife.i was told last week to save all my questions for them,(beacause of my difficulty with believing in 1914).

does anyone have a question that they would like me to ask.. .

There are so many questions you can ask them... but you have to be prepared with your reply for thier answer...they do seem to have an answer for everything...

As for 1914, ask them:

1. how they arrived at that date for Christ's return.

2. Was it the original date for Christ's return?

3. Has the teaching(s) regaurding what would happen upon Christ's return ever changed?

4. If the WTBS is led by "Holy Spirit", why do certain teachings need updating? (Millions Now Living Will Never Die, the return of the saints in 1925, etc...)

5. Would the Studies In Scriptures be a good set of books to own/study? After all, this is what the Organization believed/preached up until 1916.

6. has the Organization ever updated text in existing publications in order to hide/change an existing teaching?
