live in sydney,OZ -- not so far away-----
i was about 17, when i made a decison "NOT" to be gay and to "BE" one a jw. Of course, that just meant that i suppressed my real sexuality and pretended to be str8....
anyway, after decades of "sacred service" my sexuality came back like a tidal wave -- i was df'ed, divorced, and my wonderful kids refused to have anything (then) to do with me..
but, you know what? -- i am happier than i have ever been! i started a new life... been with my partner (his name is chye -- sg chinese) for 13 years... through fighting to keep him with me, i got involved in the gay and lesbian immigration task force in OZ and have had a little part in changing the laws of Australia , to be more favourable to gays and lesbians..
but whether i had a good partner or not, i know it's veri possible to be veri happy and gay - most people in my work know that i am gay and joke with me... picked up a client (str8) at the airport this morning.. who quipped, "OK kenni, found this cute chns boy in kaula lumpur for you, and was bringing him back for you, but they found him in my suitcase & confiscated him in customs"
most of my clients will joke with me like that...
so, i know that you will likely not change your mother, particularly, if she is the kind that doesn't really understand the bible, so just adopts "positions" ... a lot of jws are like that.!
if you check around this site and it's links, you will also find that even members of the the jws GB have been gay, but possibly more like the J. Edgar Hoover type (i.e not so nice)-- email me if you cannot find the links....

Disco Sucks!
by professor indoes anyone remember how the society joined the "disco sucks" movement of the late 70's?
i remember reading in the mags about how disco was created by homos and that it has an "immoral beat" (whatever that means!
) it was also mentioned not to go see "saturday night fever" because someone gets a blowjob in the movie.. in our congregation, we had a special meeting about disco because people would request disco songs at our once-a-month jw skating party at the local skating rink.

1. used to take my kids ice skating (while i was an elder) -- i'd figured out that kids needed something to do, or sure as hell, they'd do the exit dance.
periodically, some brainless elder in one of the surrounding congregations would kick up a fuss and their kids would be prevented from ice-skating on sunday night..
obviously, i was wrong, that's why i went "evil"" hahahahahah!!!
2. quite some time since i was a kid, so i've seen all these music trends come and go and then some more that you have not mentioned (yet)..
whatever kind of music you mention (and no matter what it's roots are), people (the market) has loved it -- that's why it has taken off and stayed around.
i was an overserious kid, and thought music started and finished with classical (so fitted in easily in dub city)... NOW -- i love all the styles of music in club dancing... go as much as i can....
and must say this... two hours of this type of dancing is more fun and uses more energy than a whole year of sitting on an increasingly wider arse at some useless meeting, whose whole point is to keep you away from knowing what fun the world can be..!!!!
are they bad places to be -- well, just want to say that one of my favourite clubs closed, because they were not selling enough alcohol... chee!! you gotta be dam fit to dance all night!!!!!!

Old Friends Daughter

i received a phone call from an old witness friends daughter.i used to watch her a lot and she was almost like one of my own.
her mom had emotional problems and wasn't too fond of kids.

i, too, will never go back, NOT even if Jehovah himself asks me back -- i am out and out for ever!!!
but, i feel to get someone else, "out", for the sake of getting them "out", is not much different to jws, getting them "in" in the first place..
some may happy "in" , just like there are some happy people in other religions..... if, i had a friend like yours, i would want to seek their happiness first and foremost, which is best served by being a non-judgemental friend... which is a dam hard thing for a witnesss to be..

the wts as a "haven" for homosexuals... ???? Really! well, not disbelieving your thought -- and god knows, maybe they are. But until a few weeks ago and i was invited to a party (in sydney) by a gay exie and met 3 others, i did not know of many others..
but! as i said in a previous post somewhere, lots of gay men have sought refuge in a church organisation -- and once there they have "UPHELD", the anti-gay sanctions of the church, as part of their own self-discipline.. so maybe Jws are seen to be as good a place as any to "hide"...!!! LOL>
and, while i've had a dam difficult time, i have sailed into my "spiritual paradise" as a gay man... leaving behind the grim gray walls of dub city, and living now in a rainbow colored paradise...
an "over-the-top" description??? yeah! well doan forget that i'm a queen ...!!! LOL
and point 2. cheee! mate i'm supposeed to a bit effeminate, being gay and all arn't i, mate? but the funny thing is that i feel more of a man now as an exie, than i did when i was "TRYING" to be a str8 man in the org.. yeah! so that may mean you are right about what dub city does to men..!!
sometimes, i think i'd like to be bit more......hhmmm, well "birdcageish" (like robin williams partner in that movie)..

Why did the society shut down it's radio station?
by voltaire inon an earlier thread about the wt's tv commercials i said that the society used the media before, more specifically i reffered to their radio station.
it seems to me that they quit using it because they were pressured to.
i remeber reading something, somewhere about the provacative, imflamatory nature of rutherford's remarks being the principal factor.

i once knew the answers, but since getting un-hovahed -- it leaked away..
but, the WTS in australia still owned stations in the 1940-1945 era-- but were under some kind of govt. control, because of allegedly broadcasting comments about troop movements....
and i have a vague memory, that the WTS still had WBBR (was that the name) for a long time after that.
