  Brief History of Palestine

  i found this article and thought it was worth sharing.

  president bush recently told the un that the usa supports a palestinian state.

  this is a good move since it was the original plan.

  thichi, i agree with all those points... (but not neccessarily all those in your other posts.)

  first... yes, europeans in australia, are extremely reprehensible in the matter of dispossessing indigenous australians...

  there is a sad record of:

  1. australian authorities ignoring the policy of the british govt. in these matters.
  2. the murder and rape of women and children.
  3. policies that can only be descibed as genocide (i.e. efforts to wipe out the indigenous peoples.
  4. the stealing of children, and their placement in church homes for indoctrination ( but were they were often sexually and physically abused.)

  i am on the side of the indigenous people....

  but!! as you point out this is part of the history of most (if not all nations)...

  how do we go back and right the wrongs of history ??

  e.g. i believe that i am mainly of anglo-saxon heritage -- much of my peoples land was stolen by norman (french) conqerors after 1066..

  i cannot change that ( and doan really care about it).

  i do not have the answers to palestine - israel problems!! but i do know that they are not black & white problems.

  the palestineans do not have clean hands,israel does not have clean hands either.. the so-called 'great powers' have used this conflict for their own base ends... and in the end the ordinary people suffer..

  ( and see i have not even started on islam...!!!)

  i do not believe that i have double standards...but forgive me if i do display some...!!!!

  Another computer topic

  since everyone else is posting computer threads today i thought i would also.

  does anyone else here have more ram than processing power?

  my pc has a 500mhz processor and 512mb worth of ram.

  anyway here is the guts of the argument for benefit. (and it's a transcript-hence the less-than-clear english)

  What you are doing in this water … there's magnesium bicarbonate. The bicarbonate is taken into cells and the dioxide dies inside the cells.

  It's not clear water and I don't know if we can pick this up, but it has got little bits in it. You need to shake it up before you drink it. I'm trying to show the folks at home these bits. If you look at it, look down the bottom there, you can maybe see what looks like what would be ... they are carbonates. We shake them back into bicarbonates — we have to prepare the product before they drink it.

  let you make your own judgement. but i havn't rushed across sydney for a few cartons.

  University Question

  for the last year or so i've been mulling over quitting everything, becominga bum, and actually going to university.

  i work with computers, and though the pay is good (hence my still doing it), i can't shake the feeling that this isn't what i'm supposed to be doing.

  i want to do something with english.

  in the end, what will matter is -- can u do it?????

  that will depend on talent + training -- so if u think u got it -- go do it!!!

  i took a year off, (in 2000) and went to school for a year.. loved the learning experience (tho i am no longer young)

  when i stop working in about 3 years -- i intend to do a degree in asian or chinese studies!!!

  really looking forward to that!!!

  i absolutely detest political correctness in any form.

  im a firm believer that there is nothing wrong with a ship being a she nor a person being a chairman rather than a chair person.

  some time ago i was sat in a busy restaurant and a person pushing a wheel chair containing an invalid, asked me if i would give up my table so that the invalid person could use it.

  through out time and nearly all human cultures and civilizations people have believed in god or gods?.

  did this develop purly as a means for us to explian the world , or is there a part of the brain that causes peolpe to be religious?.

  there is evidence that in fact certain parts of the brain are highly involved in religious beliefs and feelings.. its possible to actualy stimulate certain parts of the brain with a device that generates a strong magnetic field.. aim it at the front of the thalamus and you might experience a orgasm.

  as a witness, i used to pray fervently -- sometimes for long periods.
  and i had certain emotional/spiritual feelings as a result...

  now, as a gay man i have the same feelings when having sex with my partner.... (wish it was for the same lengthy times). btw -- didn't happen that way with str8 sex.

  do you think my thalamus is too close to my temporal lobe??

  i was watching law and order svu and they were trying to catch this guy on murder and rape, but they needed his dna.

  when they went to swab his inner check, he said he could not do that because he was a jw.

  i think the show got it wrong, i never remember being told as a jw that i could not give up dna samples, anyone know?

  dna sampling has only become a common practise, comparatively recently...

  and i have been out for more than 13 years...

  but, i cannot see why it would be an issue, anymore than giving a urine sample to a DR for diabetes testing....

  somebody involved in the case has got it wrong...!!!

  quite possibly, the guyn was guilty and was trying to delay the inevitable!!!

  or else he was just ignorant.. which would be just as possible!!!!

  * grandeur -- we are going to rule the earth!!!!!

  ** pride -- we have the greatest organisation ever formed...it's the most loving, it's the most zealous!!!

  *** persecution -- doesn't everyone know jws are the ONLY people in the world that have ever been persecuted!!!!!

  why else do you have to monitor the conversations and contacts of your staff.. ??

  why else do you have to expell people and forbid contact, with those who hold a (even slightly) variant opinion.. ??

  why else do you have to turn elders into spiritual policemen -- constantly checking up on the drifters, and expelling them .. ??
