i found some ladies purse at the local shopping mall parking lot tonight, it had her entire life in it, her social security card, her cell phone, her cash, her credit cards, even her daughters social security card.. from looking through the contents, me and saffron were able to find out many things about her:.
1)she had recently moved from way out in the country to columbia maryland... 2)she was probably divorced from a man of middle eastern origens.
3)she was white.
Hi
On the subject of Karma, there are some who believe that it returns to you sooner rather than later, in this lifetime. Some believe that we only reincarnate as human (various psychics and people under past life regression therapy consistently describe only human lives). I think its the Hindus who say you can reincarnate as a lower animal.
I think its wrong of you to expect a reward, since you dont really know she has lots of money. Plus, what ever happened to doing something out of the goodness of your heart, not expecting a reward?

this is my 616th post!
did you know that some divurgent texts of rev 13:18 state that the number of the beast is 616?
did you know that ceasar nero's name, in the greek form, spelled with hebrew letters adds up (numerically) to 666, and that the latin form of nero's name in hebrew letters add up to 616?
Its strange you should say this Yeru, since I found this in a local Announcement:
"World christians breathe a sigh of relief today, as the identity of the Anti-Christ is finally revealed! Religionists discovered a crypic message, discovered in Internet Archives, which read
"Meaning Is Foyer Understanding - 3 the words are and 3 the letters, to 7 for the antichrist"
Amazingly, the 3rd word "Foyer" was identified, and its 3rd letter Y was the first letter of the name of the Anti-Christ. Y - E - R - U leads us to the 7th letter "for the antichrist".
Yeru is identified as the antichrist. A Jehovahs Witness group, who made this finding, stated "this makes perfect sense to us, our reasoning is clearly infallible".

my names craig and i'm from england.
when i was younger (i'm 23 now) my parents decided to join a congregation, and used to take me along, i used to have a regular nice chap who used to come visit me for regular book study to which i thoroughly enjoyed.
after a while i got bored and rebelled against everything, i used to go out shoplifting, fornicate all sorts!!..
Hi Craig,
Im in the UK too..."up North"
I wonder why you are afraid to pray? Remember that JWs have told you that God is loving and forgiving? Just because you sleep with your g/friend, it doesnt mean he doesnt hear, or cant respond to your plea for guidance.
What you should do is realise that you should not panic because of world events. Human beings were not made to change their entire lives overnight, even JWs allow you 6 months or more nowadays from starting a bible study! Take your time to work out what you want to do.

is there a new breed of jw emerging, i wonder?.
i know that there are lots of real brainwashed dubs around who see demons behind every car boot sale item and who scuttle off to the elders with every bit of tittle-tattle imaginable, but, i think that there is a new type of dub who quietly does just as he / she pleases.. this is what i think: many of the long-serving jw's who have seen the 1975 failure and the 1914 generation change are now approaching old age with something of a jaundiced eye, and are choosing to do their own thing in their remaining years.
in conversations i am picking up it seems that the elders are being regarded somewhat derisively by many jw's.
I forgot to mention, this "new breed" welcomed me at a JW wedding recently, despite the fact that I spoke to a DF person who was there (I thought that he wasnt allowed to be there actually! ), wore a backless top , and got quite *tipsy* ... LOL!
They all happily associated with me all night.

Maybe this is just the natural evolution of the religion. Each religion goes through stages, and JW religion is relatively young.
Human beings always integrate "cultural differences" and suchlike to their religion, even one like JWs. Gradually, they will likely have more and more differences worldwide.

inerrantists believe that every word in the bible is literally true; to believe otherwise, they say, is to remove the foundation upon which one may have a certain understanding of how one may achieve salvation and reach the kingdom of heaven.
that makes perfect sense, on one level.
if one could indeed know that everything in the bible is true, then one would just have to turn to the part where the method of salvation is described, do what the bible says, and live forever.
Hi
I suppose this comes down to the question: Is there any proof that the bible is inspired of God?
This has been something I've been wondering about recently. Certainly, the effect that the bible has had on humanity is astounding, however, Islam is the largest religion in the world, so more people believe the Koran.
This thread seems to have a "nasty" tinge to it . Can we debate without making personal attacks?
Pom, I admire your faith. Please tell me how you feel so sure.

i looked into the jws online because i knew in my heart that the guilt they make you feel and the mass destruction they preach just isnt right.

Hi Erik
You raised some good questions. It seems to me that you are trying to prove JWs "right", just by the tone of your emails etc. Or maybe you are hoping that you'll find something convincing thats "wrong" with JWs?
Anyway, I stopped attending 2 years ago, (not DF or DA) and I'd like to tell you a little about what made me leave (sort of a list, like yours! )
1. Spirituality should not be about judging others ourselves, whether that be their views on religion or their practices. We may feel that something they believe or think doesnt agree with scripture *in our opinion and interpretation of scripture*, and we are welcome to tell them so. If they choose to continue with their path then so be it.
Jehovahs Witnesses, as some other religions, tend to view those not JW as "wicked" those who question too much as "apostate", and frankly accept no freedom of religion. Jesus said love those persecuting you, so surely he also meant love those who have a different view of God. In saying love them, he meant agape love - unselfish, UNCONDITIONAL love, the sort that God gives to us. Jehovahs Witnesses are conditional in their true love, not unconditional. I personally think that this is wrong.
You may say JWs are showing love to preach, well they are, of a sort. Really though, that preaching love is simply a "concern" based on the belief that people should be JW or face judgement. Its not the same sort of agape love Jesus mentioned (IMHO).
I know of other religions that encourage real love in their community, churches who help those less fortunate.
2. The Jehovahs Witnesses base everything on the bible. This would be OK, however, it seems that they have altered their bible to suit their doctrine. You can argue all of these doctinal issues all day, but if you knew for sure that JWs had wrongly changed their bible translation from the original meaning, surely this would tell you they are not the best religion to be associated with?
e.g. In the New World Translation, every time the Greek word "proskuneo" is used with reference to God, it is translated "worship" (Rev 5:14, 7:11, 11:16, 19:4 John 4:20 etc.) Every time it is used with reference to Jesus, it is translated "obeisance" (Matt 14:33, 28:9, 28:17, Luke 24:52 etc.)even though its the same word in Greek. See the Greek Interlinear which shows this clearly. Why would they do this? To support their doctrine?
If the name Jehovah was so important, why is it never used in the entire Greek New Testament? If men edited the name out, when they copied the NT, as only the watchtower claims, then how can we have ANY confidence in any of the New Testament?
The NWT translates "kyrios" as Jehovah more than 25 times in the New Testament (Matt 3:3, Luke 2:9, Acts 21.14, etc). Why is the NWT not consistent in translating Kyrios as Jehovah in Rom 10:9, 1Cor12:3, Phil 2:11, 2 Thess 2:1 etc.? See Greek Interlinear.
3. I dont belong to any group or religion at the moment, yet I believe I am a spiritual person and always aim to be loving to others. Look around at people in other religions. Are they really the wicked, hateful people that the Watchtower describe? Some people in all groups will be found who maybe arent loving. But look at the worlds religions, with "open eyes" not through the JW spectacles. You will be very, very surprised to see the wealth of deep spirituality and love there.
As far as pagan holidays, have you ever read about Celtic Spirituality? The celts were essentially pagan before being taken over by the church, and they are responsible for beautiful poetry and art to the praise of God. Paganism isnt necessarily about "wicked, evil Devil worshippers"! As a JW, I myself condemned other religions, but I think you should assess them for what they are, objectively.
So controversial as this may be, I will leave you with a Celtic blessing:
~~~~~~
May you recognise in your life the presence, power and light of your soul.
May you realise that you are never alone, that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for your own individuality and difference.
May you realise that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here,
That behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful, good and eternal happening.
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.
~~~~~~
Love
