The bible is full of mythological stories.
It has value, IMHO, similar to books such as the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
All gods are dreamed up by men, yet this fact doesn't mean that there is nothing else outside of the material universe.
Then we have abiogenesis, how did life start? Stephen hawkins has spent 40 years to end up saying the same as all other scholars on the subject that there is no answer to this question!
As someone who has deep respect for Stephen Hawking, I will come to his defense. Stephen Hawking has contributed more to our understanding of the universe than most scholars put together. I have read his books. Have you? Why don't you refrain from such blatant demonstrations of your own vast ignorance! How DARE YOU!

You cannot really harmonize scripture with fact because scripture isn't fact; scripture is written hearsay misattributed to eye-witnesses and "inspired" persons.

Congrats on having the guts to answer my question! Some appear to ignore the hard questions.
problem I think we are having is that although THERE IS "ONE" GOD, the bible talks about many gods (men, pagan gods), even Satan is called GOD - just not "THE GOD". I still believe in ONE GOD (THE GOD), but Jesus is GOD (in divinity) just in the context of even - and I hate to say this - but SATAN..So I guess, Jesus is "a" GOD to me -if I were ranking them.
Actually, the bible does mention others as "god" or "gods". However it makes clear that any god apart from Jehovah is false. "no god against my face" I think the phrase goes.
If the other gods mentioned in the bible are false gods, apart from Jehovah, and the bible says categorically that there is ONE TRUE GOD, then how can we say Jesus is "a god" entirely separate from Jehovah?
I'm not a Christian but I think the bible says Jehovah and Jesus are God.

1. If Jesus is a separate being, is he "a god"? (see John 1.1 and the scripture which the JWs attribute to Jesus calling him "mighty god")

on the other hand, there is a popular bumpersticker which reads "nothing fails like prayer".. what has been your experience in this regard?
did god answer your most heartfelt prayers, or were they ignored?.

Since we have freewill, prayer is a method by which we "put out there" what it is we need and want. It works upon US first and foremost.
