Thanks for the replies everyone.
I've emerged after a week of getting used to having a newborn baby! She is wonderful...
today (29th august 2008) at 5.22pm baby meadow arrived weighing 6lb 7oz; she was born at home in a birthing pool without any medical interventions other than gas and air; both mother and baby are well (although dawn is well and truly exhausted from a 12 hour birthing).
i am immensely proud of them both.
today my world was made complete!.

i've had this theory for some time and alluded to it occassionally but have never explored it in detail.. it is of course a huge generalisation so no, not everyone will fit into the boxes and i'd like people's opinion.
i don't know everyone's circumstances so it's based on a small sample of some of those i do know something about.
it could be completely wrong, it's just an idea.. basically, i have seen a difference between some of those ex-jws who walked out vs those who were kicked out.. the most bitter and obsessive seem to be the kicked out and, i must add, those who were legitimately kicked out.

Gerard,
What you said came across as extreme, but I must say I agree that DFing is NOT acceptable even if "the rules are in place" in the cult. As you said, someone could be born into JWs and baptised at a young age, then have to suffer just because they are attempting to live a normal life.
I don't agree with the kangaroo courts under any circumstances. If the person has done something illegal, involve the police. If they have done something bad, then the church's responsibility stops at listening and helping them and where necessary issuing a warning to others.

So someone raised a JW who gets their mind free from JWism is expected to live their life according to the rules of the cult? (because those rules were in place when they got baptised at 15?)
If they choose to now live their life based upon their own newly developed conscience, they have to suffer the consequences of the cult because they were raised in it?
This leaves no room for someone growing out of the cult control. Not everyone who frees their mind is able to walk away without a DF.

The point here is that by agreeing that people should be "kicked out" we are agreeing with the JW cult. We are actually saying that disfellowshipping is OK as long as they've done something we consider to be "bad" (adultery, smoking, drugs, etc.)
This does not allow for compassion and love for the individuals concerned and seems to go against everything that Christianity in general is aiming for (forgiveness etc.)
Other religions get along just fine without having to enforce stringent rules and destroy people's lives.
Then there is the suggestion that those who get kicked out are somehow less than those who don't get kicked out. I won't even go there - I just don't agree. But I will accept that Simon specified that he wasn't talking about everyone.

The other aspect I see is that some of the kick-outs are bitter and resentful against the WTS that kicked them out for their behaviour (I'm talking again about those whos behavior warranted it).
The only issue I have with your view is that you are somehow saying that being "kicked out" ie disfellowshipped, is OK. Whilst its true that there are rules in place in the congregations, I personally will never agree with disfellowshipping, no matter WHAT the person has done. Then you see people getting DF'd because they had sex with someone they love outside of marriage, or they smoked. So you can't say that those kicked out are all disobedient tearaways. I realise you were not referring to everyone though.
This doesn't apply to me because I walked out, but for some DF'd ones, I don't think they can be tarred with a certain brush purely because of the DFing.
When they subsequently misbehave on discussion forum like this one (which their anger and obsession probably makes more likely) then they simply transfer their resentment and anger to whoever is responsible and possibly the ex-JW community as a whole (or those who frown on the unwanted behavior).
I'm sure we can all think of examples of these types (well, I can anyway!)
I can see how this would be the case if someone broke the rules on the forum over and over and then got really angry about it. Yes.

okay maybe i'm a little slow but i'm finally beginning to understand how all the "new light" is tied together.
this has all been prompted for me by my reading of the 1914 chapter in "crisis of conscience".
see, the door to heaven which was previously closed in 1935 has been reopened.
The main reason for opening the doors again on the anointed is so that we don't run out of anointed!!
Imagine in about 20-30 years when all the anointed are dead...that wouldn't fit because armageddon hadn't come yet.
So what they've done is opened the doors for new YOUNGER people to claim a heavenly hope. Thus making the big A much further away.

seen some real "different" threads here lately, out of body experiences, near death experiences, ext.
and it got me thinking that we have a lot of people here that have a lot of unusaul skills and talents that arent typically talked about.
in light of this, i want to talk to someone that has real power to foretell the future.
WOW Funky Derek agreed with me
i've been reading a few pages of threads from saturday until today and i can't understand why some,(actually very few) try to damage this site.
this is one of a handful of (ex)jw sites that really helps people get out of the organization.
the interaction that we have here shows anyone how we can leave the so- called "truth" and enjoy life!
