  Since I think that I'm the only person who said "rant" then maybe D8TA was referring to me in his first comments on this post. I need to say, however, that I haven't emailed him and this is the only thing I've said on the subject.

  I'm glad you apologised D8TA, I do respect your opinion and your right to voice it, it was just the tone and use of "bitch" and "whore" that I didn't like. In fact, I wholly prefer your argument against Wholewheat and Violets, and I've got to admit that I get frustrated just reading their posts.

  Volunteer Work is Never Encouraged

  i always find it so annoying whenever there's a wt study on the good samaritan.

  no one at the hall ever suggests that the idea behind it, is that we should be helping our "enemies" in a charitable way, such as feeding them, clothing them, helping them out in a physcial way.....nope they always turn it around to where it only means we should be preaching to our enemies, cause lord only knows, actually helping someone out in a charitable way means less than nothing in the organization.. anyhoo, the last time we had an article on that (couple of years ago), i specifically put up my hand and said "this is not talking about preaching to our enemies.

  the samaritan did not preach to the jew nor vise versa.

  Dungbeetle, really good point! in that 1986 watchtower they totally miss the point of Jesus being here. Basically they say that he instructed to make disciples, nothing more. They forget that Jesus provided an EXAMPLE for them for their lives. Jesus welcomed all, he helped people in a PRACTICAL way, he showed love to average people, sharing meals with them and generally being a big part of the community. He gave out food to those who were hungry. If Jesus had gone round preaching but had never shown love or practical help, he'd have never been followed by the masses.

  There are many parallels between the biblical Jehovah and Jesus and the Egyptian Ptah and Thoth. Joseph was Egyptian...

  Nowadays I find it impossible to believe the bible due to all of its stolen stories and gods.

  I agree, completely. There just isn't the love in the JW organisation that they claim to have.

  I've seen more loving acts by those in other faiths, most definately. My mum who is a JW does do some to help out the elderly - but that is because of the type of person she's always been. Plus, she never gets involved in something that she'd be expected to do on a regular basis. She is definately a rare one amongst her JW friends.

  I've actually heard volunteer groups critisised by the JWs - sort of a "oh they'll never solve the worlds problems - what they're doing is so small in comparison to what needs doing"....but they fail to realise that volunteer workers DO make a difference. If we all sat on our asses like JWs then the world would be a much worse place.

  Why is 'women bashing' allowed on this board?

  there is a poster on this board with the moniker 'd8ta' that has called a female poster a 'bitch' and another female poster a 'whore' and yet you men let him get away with it.

  this is disgusting!

  is this what leaving jehovah does to people?

  when i left the jehovah's witnesses, i spent a couple of months attending local christian churches.

  my wife and i did this because we thought the christian path was still ours.

  later we learned that our path went in a far different direction.. .

  my boss is a jehovah witness and today informed me that although he respects the american flag he does not pledge allegiance to it - he pledges allegiance to god - therefore i cannot display an american flag in my work area.

  can someone please explain this to me?

  JWs believe that Gods Government will destroy all other governments at Armageddon. They believe armageddon is going to happen VERY soon. Therefore they pledge allegiance only to Gods government. IF they were to salute the flag, they see that as some sort of idolatry.

  I would certainly explain to the JW boss that he should respect your beliefs just as you respect his, and allow you to display a flag. Then again, you might find it easier to not argue and simply put it down to him being an asshole.

  your posts were out of order.

  you bring shame upon our country, and i feel angry with both of you.. there are certain rules that people abide by.. 1. you never insult / criticise someone's kids unless you want their parents to hate you.. 2. you don't foist your religious beliefs upon others, because, in so doing, you appear to be taking the moral highground, and this is extremely irritating.

  Given the tone of Celtics posts, I doubt his apology is going to come.... I am angry at this too. Mostly, I'm sorry to see Celtic reduce himself to such a level.
