if you do believe in god but not that the bible is his word what are your core beliefs and how did you arrive at them?

and I subscribe to the ideas of the Qaballah as understood in the Western Esotericism.
Qaballistically speaking, Kether is "the ALL" - the Holiest of Divinity - which emanates the rest of the universe out from itself. The universe and God is evolving together.
"Gods" are a human interpretation of certain cosmic forces.

i'm just wondering because i was raised to believe that a woman should get married and have children.
i think that this is an out-dated philosophy and that girls shouldn't be taught that they have to be in a marriage to be complete.

We are both pagan so we both acknowledge the spiritual connection and are committed to the relationship.
In answer to the question - NO a woman definately does NOT need to be married (or in a relationship) to be happy.

so how did it go some have asked?
at some point the lady therapist asked me what was probably my number one concern....it just came out...."i don't know if i can stay married to a jw"...wife burst into tears...and never let up...not even on the way back to drop me off at work...i also said in session i would prefer an open minded wife, and i don't think wife would pick me now either...not an unbeliever, not an overdrinker, and that marriage to me meant being able to share pretty much everything with one another, my feelings, my friends, my concerns, and that i did not like living a double life...and explained what that was too......she of course said she would stay in the marriage, and mentioned the adultery only rule...so i said it sounds like she feels she is stuck with me...she said it sounds like our marriage is already over....the lady says she does know for a fact that jw's do indeed get divorced without sex sins...cause she has counseled more that one couple like us...one in, one out....that ended with divorce.
i did say nice things about her...said the things i love.....and vice verse...and we both said we wanted the marriage to work....so at least a good basis for continuing the sessions.....the lady wants us to find common ground and just ignore the religious difference for now...i said great but how can we do that when the religion is all encompassing to my wife...it is everything....i will be glad to go to the ground if she can find it....but she never got a chance to find it yet...we ran out of time.

As someone said, it takes time to even begin to solve stuff, if its possible.
Your wife has to learn that she has to give aswell as take. She has to compromise somewhere!
I hope the therapist can make her realise that.

I don't follow Crowley's advice regarding certain things (largely because he put in deliberate mistakes), but the guy was very influential and has a lot of very interesting things to say about Qaballah.
One doesn't have to be into anything "dark" to read Crowley's work.
Plus, intent is the real yardstick isn't it?

during my ten year sojourn through the watchtower, i was always amazed at the witnesses fear and fascination with demons.
occasionally at gatherings, they would exchange "demon" stories, which were just a jw way of telling ghost stories, and you would usually hear a few "uhhs" and "oh my's" as the story was told.
although i had heard folks of other denominations mention demons, it was never with the "shock and awe" the witnesses put into it.
It is LACK OF FAITH on the part of the witnesses.
They are scared of demons and think that their god - Jehovah - would allow demons to mess with them.
Surely they would be protected by Jah all the time?
Surely Jah would not allow a demon to enter their home?
When I left the JWs I faced my fears head on. I have used Ouija boards, divination, witchcraft, mediumship and I have learned that nothing can mess with you without your permission. (obviously doing such things can be deemed an invite or permission, hence the things I mentioned should not be toyed with). Faith and right motives are all the protection you need.

i have been reading a lot of posts over the past few weeks and noticed how some folks have taken the atheist/agnostic path, while others have replaced their zeal for the society into one of another faith.
what led you to take the path you did?.
for me, i just began doing a lot of deep thinking and trying to come to the most logical conclusion based on the facts that i had before me.. as a result, i have taken the agnostic path because it makes the most sense to me.
Could I just say that too many people reject the idea of a higher power (god) based upon the things they find in the bible.
The bible is just ONE religious text. It isn't the answer to everything, not by a long shot.
Also why are we assuming that "God" is a conscious entity?
