  Well now you've changed your verbiage from "suggest" to "insist". That aside, "all human history" as imprinted by religion is what would make a person have the theory in the first place.

  I love ancient churches, mosque, and art as much as anyone, but that doesn't give me an answer to questions like "was the beauty and/or social constructs worth the hatred-of-the-other that came along with religious belief?" or "what would exist if most peoples throughout history had not followed religions?".

  These are questions that (probably) can't be answered, so I'd agree that it would be foolish to insist on one view to the exclusion of others.

  I find it just a little arrogant on the part of atheists to suggest that the various faiths of humankind have really held back human progress.

  Why would it be "arrogant" to have a theory based on what one sees from religion, even if one's theory was ultimately wrong?

  Agree with Loftus'ussess premise. I've heard people claim that they were once atheist, now christian, and almost to a person they describe their atheism as springing from "anger at god".

  They seem to be cornfused people with an inability to put aside or sublimate their base emotions when (attempting) reasoning.

  That smarmy douche C.S. Lewis is of this ilk, and shall not be welcome in my kingdom.

  yes, that's right, they really do not like people being able to read that book so they wanted links to it removed (it appears they have also been going after the hosts of the content itself as well).. unfortunately, i had to removed the links (which were dead anyway when i checked) and i'd ask that people don't re-post them (sorry).

  i'm sure there are lots of alternative ways for those with the information to get it to those who need it.. here are the discussions on the book:.

  I say let's help protect Simon, and other ex-JW sites, and be smart... don't advertise the distribution of the book. Be sneaky and do it where the WTS can't see it or control it. In the long run, it's probabaly more damaging.

  I think we agree on this for the most part. I do think some advertising, some open distribution, is a good thing. Molesting bees and all that, you know? ;)
