Blindness and hypocrisy, I had an Aunt that passed away. She was a widow and had no family other than me and my sisters in the area. She was old and put in a home for the elderly and was not a JW. My JW sisiters who lived 5 minutes from her care home did not visit her ONCE. I guess they were too busy throwing Watchtowers in bus stops and Laundry mats. I really dont think it even came to their mind how horriable everyone thought they were. I made sure the caretakers knew she had more family than me and they were JW's and only lived 5 minutes away. They couldn't fathom how unthinkable that was to them.

What are the things you dislike most about JW's?
by Chariklo intop of my list has to be hypocrisy.
it runs right through, from elders downwards.
the literature and the gb are bad enough, but the bit that touches ordinary people, householders, students and ordinary rank and file is the false goodness that they put on like a raincoat.

Waikiki literature table
by exwhyzee ini feel bad saying this to all of you poor ol' stay at homes who may be experiencing cold winter weather, but we're in hawaii for a few days before heading to austrailia.
last evening we were doing the stroll along the beach walk and happened upon one of those jw literature tables i had only heard about up until now.
there was a young japanese couple looking at the literature as we passed.

I think all cults put on a happy face to the public. Just like the words of the ministry of propaganda at HQ when the press asks them questions. Try to question anything once you are in, that is the ugly side. The serect star chamber JC's. Even when they have come to my door not knowing I am a former JW I have to push to even get them to answer questions they know the answer too when I ask if I will be destroyed at the end. They dance around like little chickens and have to point them to what the watchtower has said about me. It is funny cause it is then they have to leave for some kinda important appointment.

Distrust and paranoia among faders
by cedars inhi guys.
i'm interested in knowing whether any other faders out there ever find themselves feeling a little paranoid about establishing contact with other faders or former jws, just in case the unthinkable happens and things turn sour.. personally, i'm now fairly comfortable with the idea that i will be disfellowshipped or disassociated within the next year or so.
i see it as inevitable, and an essential transition in order to do what i want to do with my life.

I myself was very careful about what was said around my family for 19 years but as time went on I realized that it didn't matter I was out of the club. They will never respect my decision of not going to meetings. Me and my mom would talk now and then. One time after several months of us not talking I found out She moved out of state with not so much as a phone call. That was it. I called and let her know exactly what I thought of her and her evil cult. For some reason it gave me peace and I feel much better mentally. They really, in a cult induced way love the concept of the watchtower more than you. I finally excepted this fact and after 19 years am finally healing and free to be who I really am. This took 19 years so yes to each in his own time. All I can hope is that something I said in our last phone call will cause a thought in my mom to research more.

We Are Not Living in 1937
by Londo111 inhttp://www.jw.org/en/news/by-region/europe/russia/overturned-court-decision/.
"those perceived to have dissenting views were rounded up and tried at meaningless show trials.".
now that doesn't remind me of anything... .

Do you believe that God is using the faithful and discreet slave
by trujw init seems that this question is used by elder to trap us and close their minds(the jw elder) to thinking.
if you answer no they wrap up a jc in short order.
i was wondering if any have tried to use a more pointed question to actually get them to think themselves.

Nugget: I would answer. That is why I am here and agreeded to meet to work on my relationship with Jehovah and your own words on why you have faith in the Fathful and discreet slave would really help me with my struggle. I was called back here for my doubts that is well known so if you could answer my question it would do much to help build my faith.

It seems that this question is used by elder to trap us and close their minds(The JW elder) to thinking. If you answer no they wrap up a JC in short order. I was wondering if any have tried to use a more pointed question to actually get them to think themselves. Has anyone ever asked " Can you help me by telling me why you personally think God is using them as compared to other religions? Their is no pat answer in JW propaganda for this and they would actually have to think, why do I personally believe? The only answer I think most would give is field service and I think all of us can ask or bring out many different reasons to open a mind if this is the only reason given. A few are below.
1. Other religions preach.
2. What if what we are teaching is incorrect and go into past errors how does god view this?
3. Other religions dont teach the Trininty or Hell Fire.
What are your thoughts and what responses do you think the elders would give that we can ask a follow up question in a non threating manner.

Visited Beth Sarim today
by exwhyzee inmy sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.
i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land, with us, should she need it.
even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer, elder, bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

Why not ask her about her beliefs then leave it at that. A few days later say I thought about what you said and have a few questions. Then maybe bring up some things about their past mistakes you read about online. I was thinking this generation will by NO means pass away and quote the 1984 watchtower with all the old people on it so she can look it up. Then you can ask if they were wrong about that how do you know that what you believe now wont change? Does truth change?
