This is a good thread, different viewpoints but all constructive.
I agree with Baltar's last comment too...we are probably more obessed about this that the average dub and the GB!
i have heard a lot of talk over the last year or so if the gb will eventually ditch 1914 and some have even made the claim that most, if not all of the gb do not believe in 1914. ive given this some thought and in the past i wasnt sure.
this annual meeting puts 100%, without a doubt in my mind that the gb do not believe in 1914. id even go as far to say that they talked about that date and have a game plan in mind.. here is why i feel this way:.
there were a lot of changes with the parables at this annual meeting.

so, even if jws of the great crowd are found faithful and sparred at armageddon, they still have to prove faithful at the final judgement at the end of 1,000 years, right?
or, are jws of the great crowd assured they will pass the final judgement.
two tests doesnt sound fair!.
The reasoning being though that if you survived the Greatest Tribulatuion ever and the Big A then you most likely pass a lesser tribulation in the test at the end of 1000 years thus no dub thinks that you can survive the Big A and then fail the 1000 year test...whilst technically you could they reason its highly unlikely.

Sorry but I disagree with OneEyedJoe, Baltar and Oubliette...the GB know they need to prove their appointment thus 1919 is core, they showed that with the new light on the F&DS...whilst they can try and diminish 1914 1919 is important to any new bible study...new ones will not accept this bull without their convoluted explanation as to how they got appointed...in 1919. Whilst already-in dubs may not care the next generation do...
Therefore my reasoning still stands...they can do away with 1914 but 1919 is only 5 years on and is important in their proof that they are appointed. Thus as the years roll on I suspect they will still hold on to 1919 but have further whacky new light...

We all know they need to drop 1914 sooner or later to survive but their new "understanding" of who is the Faithful & Discreet Slave points to 1919 as a date thus this recent nu-lite is using a date only 5 years after 1914 so if they have to get rid of 1914 then 1919 will need to go too at some point and they will look very foolish if they hace to revise nu-lite...nu-nu-lite if you will...
this is part of the speech that anthony morris iii gave during his time in the limelight at the 2014 annual meeting.. at 3.16.32 of the recorded meeting.
"what role do those with an earthly hope play?
oh oh ho veeeery important role, very important.
How can not the average dub see how the attitude of these guys has changed with the passing away of the older members like Pierce and Barr?
It's more and more about them, I agree with the OP...for a GB member to slate a Branch saying he didn't get treated right and therefore his "big brother" Jebus will sort them out is so high and mighty it beggars belief.
You would never have heard older GB members say these kind of things. I really hope they do more of this kind of stuff because it just highlights what the GB really are, men.
I'm also sure that if the members of the GB continue in this attitude you may see internal fights develop, that would rock the boat...
It is now getting more and more obvious as a cult...I just watched the film The Sacrament...if you haven't seen it watch it...its uncanny how alike the film and the GB are...
have you watched some 'dub tv' yet?
it's very interesting.
steven lett of the gigglin brothers, put his foot right in watchtower's big mouth.
Might be nice to link the video and at what minute mark that is said for others?
it is more likely to be one attack under different names.. gog of magog is not satan but a coalition of nations.
1. what do talents represent?
so who has the 5 talents?
Nu-shite...
anybody going or who can give us the noolite hot from the gb a$$?.
.
.
Fcuk me 10 hours to be a pioneer...you can do that on the cart nowadays...that means no more publishers as they can all be pioneers! Gog not Satan...so that lie I believed for 16 years, who was the author of it? The GB? Or Jehoover? Because one of them got it wrong...if Jehoover taught the wrong teaching he can go and fcuk himself...if the GB was the author of wrong teachings then how can anyone trust them "even from a human standpoint".
What a heap of utter shite this cult has become.
this topic is a couple years late, but i just wanted to get this off my chest.
i don't understand why people say that the society starting a project that won't finish until 2017 means that the end can't come until then, or that they don't expect the end before then.
this isn't a very logical line of thought.
I was always under the impression when I was in that God's buildings, dedicated to Him by the dubs were going to be protected. This is based on Jerusalem and its temple being destroyed because Jehoovers people were the ones being punished but at the Big A its Jehoovers people being saved therefore their buildings, or at least the ones dedicated to Jehoover would be protected.
Hence they can rationalise that it's worth building these premesis prior to the Big A...convenient eh?
im confused, a poster for the whole mamoth elephants and ark deal going on, with a gizillion pages, .
quoted genesis ch 7 about him bringing 7 clean animals.
and only two unclean, well i thought it wasnt till moses came along that all these requirements were done, so noah was under the law too?.
I love the explaination the society gives in the Insight book that Apognophos posted.
*** it-1 pp. 164-165 Ark ***
The “kinds” of animals selected had reference to the clear-cut and unalterable boundaries or limits set by the Creator, within which boundaries creatures are capable of breeding “according to their kinds.” It has been estimated by some that the hundreds of thousands of species of animals today could be reduced to a comparatively few family “kinds”—the horse kind and the cow kind, to mention but two. The breeding boundaries according to “kind” established by Jehovah were not and could not be crossed. With this in mind some investigators have said that, had there been as few as 43 “kinds” of mammals, 74 “kinds” of birds, and 10 “kinds” of reptiles in the ark, they could have produced the variety of species known today. Others have been more liberal in estimating that 72 “kinds” of quadrupeds and less than 200 bird “kinds” were all that were required. That the great variety of animal life known today could have come from inbreeding within so few “kinds” following the Flood is proved by the endless variety of humankind—short, tall, fat, thin, with countless variations in the color of hair, eyes, and skin—all of whom sprang from the one family of Noah.
*******
As many have mentioned in the past, who are these investigators? I have written to the society asking for that info and had no reply...I can find no proof on the internet to back this claim up from any scientist or report, the only mentions I get are from creationist websites...which ain't proof!
