  Did you know about the organ transplant ban when you were a believer?

  back when i was learning ttatt, i was shocked to read on jwfacts about the organ transplant ban from 1967 to 1980. this was a large piece of evidence for me that the society could not be god's organization.

  growing up as an earnest witness, and living near the headquarters, i knew a lot of the organization's embarrassing history, and it didn't faze me, but i'd never heard of this ban before, and it shocked me.

  it's gotten me wondering why no one i know ever talks about it, when it must have affected many witnesses during that time (or were they getting transplants on the sly?

  Was very unaware of this when I was in...as is my still-in wife.

  So I painted her a picture.

  The year is 1979 and we have a child who becomes critically ill to the point that they need an organ transplant to live. We read the society's doctrine that an organ transplant is a disfellowshipping practice due to the fact that the body "consumes" the donated organ in an act of cannablism and that a personality transplant may occur.

  So we want our child to be faithful and the child eventually dies.

  Fast forward two years to 1981 and our second child is critically ill, again let us say due to a genetic defect it too needs an organ transplant to live.

  We look up the society's guidelines only now to see it is a conscience matter, we choose to get the organ transplant and the child lives.

  According to the society both children have been faifthul to the "truth" yet one lived, one dies.

  Seriously, on what planet would a god ever act in this manner?

  The above story that I painted to my still-in wife has her deeply troubled.

  And the question begs, who got it wrong in 1969? Did Jehovah get it wrong to say it was cannabilism? Or that Personality Transplant is fact? Did Jehovah correct himself in 1980?

  Because if he did then I want nothing to do with a god like that.

  Or is it all just men's ideas? Is it a case that the GB make these doctrines based on what they think the scriptures say?

  If that is the case and Jehovah has to correct them why did it take 11 years? And if that is indeed the case how can the GB expect me to blindly follow, to listen, obey and be blessed if they have to be corrected on life changing doctrines?

  How can the GB expect me to follow this statement: "All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not." IF they get it wrong.

  Either way, if Jehovah got it wrong or the men got it wrong is irrelevant...because whatever the answer you would have nothing to do with either of them.

  The parents believe in a false premesis that theit organisation is controlled by God through the hands of 8 men in NY and whatever they say goes...they say report it to the elders and the elders report it to the branch.

  IF a dub goes STRAIGHT to the police they are, in effect, going against god who directs them otherwise so how is that the parents fault? You cannot compare your thought process to theirs since they are in and we are not.

  Also, don't let your kids be alone with members of your local cong, ever? How is that practical to a jw? So theor kids will never go out on service with someone else or sleep over at a friends house? JW's will not think that way because they believe, in error, that every JW is good.

  Your solutions or apportioning the blame are pathetic and clearly you have not had to handle such cases, I have as an ex elder and believe you me I would move heaven and earth to protect a kid or to stop this happening.

  The answer is simple, change the WT policy, get the guys charged and locked away and let everyone know in the cong who is child abuser...that will stop it or at least minmize it.

  The only thing parents should do is what you said about training them.

  But blow me you are one insensitive prick.

  i think its pretty clear that the gb are power hungry.

  you cannot listen to the branch visit and not see clear as day that there are some of them that are loving the power.

  it showed the clearest with anthony morris.. now all these sex abuse scandals and news media are taking their power away.

  do jehovahs witnesses fulfil matthew 24:14?.

  one of the most used verses amongst jws is matthew 24:14 .no other denomination has preached the good news of the kingdom with the intensity that witnesses have around the globe.surely this must be the actual fulfillment of matthew 24:14 ,or is it ?

  this posts considers the reason why the preaching of the news performed by jehovah's witnesses today is a false sign .let me know what you think.

  i am so sick of hearing jw's blame everything from autism to hangnails on our proxemity to the existence of no-navel-man adam.

  they thereby betray their own lack of personal responsibility for their poor physical and mental health on adam.

  just maybe a little more work to afford a doctor visit once in a while wouldn't hurt?

  Here in lies how sneaky the cult is...

  I was 280 pounds in my twenties as a pioneer and lived a bad lifestyle of junk food and little excercise but hey I was a min srevant and a pioneer and why did I need to look after my body when the End is so close and I'll have the prfect body anyway. Cut down on saturated fat? Cut down on salt? Walk?

  You gotta be kidding.

  What a dangerous, dangerous thought to live by and that is what I mean by a dangerous cult. It destroyed my responsibility to look after myself.

  The realisation of TTATT and the need then to make this "one-shot at life" count meant for me a drastic life style change. I'm vegan, I don't eat processed food especially junk food and now weigh 140 pounds and cholestrol, salt intake all normal.

  But that thinking in that "the new system will sort me" is prevalent in many other areas of a dubs life...and it is a very dangerous one.

  at a recent meeting the scripture deu 25:4 was cited "do not muzzle a threshing bull".. it was applied to how the elders in the cong should be obeyed submissively because, they said, to go against the elders authority would be like muzzling a threshing bull???

  this is an unofficial survey.. was curious as to the number of currently serving elders who were born-in and/or raised as jw versus those who were "recruited"( i.e, not born in or raised as jw.).

  for instance, right now in the hall i am assigned to:.

  2 elders were born-in and/or raised as jws.. 5 were not (recruited as adults).
