We need proper confirmation via published letters about the closure of the Mexican branch but more importantly the change in Circuit Overseers to support themselves as that seems very unlikely.

The Governing Body are doubling down on dogma!
by DATA-DOG inin case you were wondering if the governing body we're going to become kinder and gentler, the answer is a big "no!!!
in the current study edition of the wt magazine, the sheeple are reminded of some very important key points.
1) god has an organization ( corporation ) that you must respect.. 2) only the gb/faithful slave can dispense spiritual food and only the gb/faithful slave can interpret the bible.. 3) individual dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.. 4) god requires "unity of doctrine.

3) Individual Dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.
4) God requires "unity of doctrine." [ Guardians of Doctrine?!?! ]But when you add their comment that they can get things wrong and that they are not inspired and are not infallible then the above 4 points make zero sense.

help me think like an elder
by Homer notsimpson inok guys, i have been tasked to ask for your opinions regarding this case.. and be honest.
my brother sexted a girl a little over a year ago, they never dated, and she got mad at him.... she got engaged and the engagement ended in august.. she attempted suicide, then talked to the elders an told him she was gonna tell on him too, now that was in august, the sister told my brother that since she didn't know his hall they couldn't do anything.. we found that doesn't seem right, so hes been freaking out, but ita now two days away from 2017 and the elders haven't speaked to him yet.. why could that be?
could they give him all this time to confess?

First of all she will need to explain what is sexting to the elders..
No, there is an elders letter about sexting
So they will ask to see the nude messages? The elders will ask to see the person naked?
Well who has them? The sister? They may ask to see them on her phone but again your brother can deny he sent them, and no they will not ask to see someone naked...ever.

I had a case in our hall when I was an elder when a married woman admitted after a talk about honesty that she gave oral sex to many boys when she was growing up in a different hall.
Whilst we helped her and her husband (who naturally was miffed) through it we had the duty to notify the other congregation of the boys, teenagers, what had happened.
We sent a letter...heard nothing...no action was ever taken against them.
Tell your brother to deny it, even if she saved the picture just get your brother to say he lost his phone for a while so any messages he never sent.
There is no way in hell they would write to the branch over a minor issue like this.

Honest Questions About Child Abuse
by Richard Oliver ini have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

But what has any of this to do with your original question? You asked why we had beef with the WT?
That has been answered. You are determined to apportion the blame of child abuse in JW congregations away from the WT hierarchy.

Hello
by midnight inhi i am posting for the first time although i've been looking for a few years , i was born into a witness family left when i was 12 with my parents went back at 22 pioneered became ms started to have major doubts around 2002 when there was a lot of talk about blood fractions etc have been hit and miss since i'm extremely mentally confused as to wether or not this really is jehovah's earthly organisation , i find life hard facing up to mortality etc not having the new system hope , what nailed your decision to leave ?
how did you cope with world problems on news etc ?
how did you fill the void ?

Hey midnight...glad you posted.
First off I would recommend that you do research, jwfacts.com, threads on here and other sites to really clarify your belief in that if the JW's are God's organisation. If you are on the fence with that, whether you are unsure or not I found makes life hard.
As soon as I fully convinced through fact and reason that there is no way it can be God's organisation then life becomes much more enjoyable.
The prospect of dying, world news etc is tough at the start but it goes away because you realize you can really enjoy your life now, fill the void with things you like, travelling, hobbies, friends and family etc.
But given where you are I would advise you really sort out in your head whether it is God's organisation, I can tell you it is not but you need to come to that conclusion yourself and then it is like a veil being lifted.
A book that really helped me was Captives to a Concept by Don Cameron...you can get it in PDF format off the internet, it really was wonderful in helping me see that God is not using the JW's.
And welcome, there are a good bunch of exjw's here who have all gone through this process, we can all help each other.

SCOTLAND: Livingston Kingdom Hall
by darkspilver ini think this deserves it's own thread, so as not to get mixed-up tl;dr - go to the bar charts at the end...picking up on jambon1's comments:.
the one in the op - livingston, was a merge to the newly built assembly hall in the same area.
i think three congs share that building now.. nice wee scoop up of the cash from the sale of livingston and whitburn.

I've heard that they do not rent other towwn halls from quite far away...folks as far as Perth, Crieff etc have to travel a fair bit for their assemblies because he WT doesn't want to splash cash on nearer venues.

Let me get this straight...the Watchtower allows congregations to form, friendships to be made and the WT has certain policies that members must stick to but the WT states they do not need to report sexual crimes against children nor tell the congregation a member has committed such act YET wonders why people want the WT to be responsible?
The WT governs congregations, it governs appointments and governs sexual abuse policy ignoring many common sense practices like notifying members of a case...100% the WT is responsible...if the WT changed these policies then the abuse might not happen.
For instance, a member can be privately reproved for sexual abuse of children, the elders may deem he is repentant but at field service groups they never pair him with a child.
What is stopping the offender to make a private ministry arrangement with a congregation members child and abuse them? The elders would not know about the arrangement and the parents know nothing about the previous abuse.
The WT therefore contributes to the sexual abuse of children.
100% responsible in creating the conditions where abuse of children can occur AND be hidden.
It is clear Richard is "still in" mentally. The questions he ask are through a JW lens.
Take the red pill and wake up.

"Just have faith in Jehovah..."
by evilApostate ini recently spoke to an old friend of mine who is still under the clutches of the watchtower.
a while back, i had told him about all the child sex abuse coverups, false prophecies, false doctrines etc.
he was really shocked and surprised.

How can a person have faith in "Jehovah" when their very definition and explanation of "him" comes from an interpretation of the bible from men who admit they are not inspired, controlled or directed by "Him" and can get things wrong?
It is circular reasoning to trust in "Jehovah" when the very reason you are being told that is you do not trust the men who explain just who, what, why, where "Jehovah" is to you.
Mental.
