questions to consider after reading the article:.
since the jws claim to adhere strictly to bible guidelines and they make certain rules or interpretations of the scriptures, should the survivors who were baptized face a judicial committee for putting their lives and the lives of others at risk?
after all, they got on a boat that basically was being operated illegally (too many passengers and not enough life jackets).
See Scully? That's why I love you, man!
why aren't the jw's evangelizing on television and radio?
it certainly seems to work for many groups and brings in a great deal of money.
just wondering..... xw
They are running those Public Service Announcements on the PAX channel.
The question I'd like an answer to is: Why did they STOP using the radio as an evangelizing tool?
we regret the abuse of young children whether inside outside god's organization.
but marching against jehovah is not the answer to these problems.
those who oppose god will never suceed.
comforter...
That was REALLY corny!
Thanks for the hearty laugh, though!

Scully-
Don't you know that, if you're breaking the law or putting your life at risk, Jehovah withdraws His protection?

Hippie...
Perhaps I shouldn't have said "all". I'll concede on that point. But...
You don't deny this:
"First day in school? Tell everyone you're a JW. First day at a new job? Tell everyone you're a JW. Do a favor for someone? Be sure to give a witness by telling them you're a JW. Change a flat tire for a stranded motorist? Be sure to tell them that you are a JW. Find a large sum of lost money? Turn it in and tell them, NOT that you are a good Samaritan, but that you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
And if you DON'T do those things as an active JW, most of your JW peers will think that you lack faith or are ashamed of your God (or religion).
Thus, I stand by my point that JWs, for the most part, start off (or, at least very early in the discussion or the event) by saying, "I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses..." It's strongly urged (required?). If you don't believe that then you are not reading the last page (back cover) of your WTs and Awake!s.

Hey, LB...
You are wrong. We can shun or get shunned over disagreements on this Forum.
Remember, Simon added an "Ignore" feature! LOL!

Welcome to the board, X.
Most religions teach at least some things that make some sense. But what may make sense to you may not make sense to someone else.
The difference with the JWs and many "mainstream"religions is that the JWs demand exclusive devotion and loyalty to their teachings. No questions or personal opinions allowed! Plus, if you don't want to be a part of their religion any longer, they will "mark" you.
Jaded has the most accurate answer and that is the dad is definitely a JW and the mom and kids are not.

Yup, Matty! No matter what the situation involving a media-worthy event, a JW always has to start off by saying..."I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses..."
