When I was at the stage of being afraid of being honest (or, perhaps a better way to phrase it, when I worried what the Dubs thought of me), I would respond with something like, "At this time I am not attending the meetings".
But, if you are at a funeral or something, a practical thing to say would be, "I am here to memorialize my loved one (the decedant). I really don't want to discuss anything else at this time. Let's focus on what a wonderful person so-and-so was".

"keep doing this in remembrance of me"
by totalee ini have re-posted this thread on the advice of another site member.
why is it ok to celebrate a wedding anniversary but not a birthday?
i can understand christmas, easter, halloween and valentines day but birthdays, thanksgiving, mother's day and father's day don't have religious or murderous origins.

Just be honest.
Tell them, "No, I don't attend meetings anymore. And, I am the happiest that I have ever been". (If that is true). -

The elders would call for an emergency meeting to discuss their plan of action. They would notify all of the Attendant's to be on the lookout. The elders themselves would also work as Attendants, watching every move of the DA'd folks.
How do I know? Because it happened at my old congregation. I was an Attendant, but, I was also mentally out of the religion. I was an Undercover Brother...LOL!
Anyway, the P.O. was most concerned because the child of one of the DA'd had recently accused him of child molestation.

Medical emergency, while at work
by MsMcDucket inmy husband called me at work to tell me that he was in extreme pain (he is handicapped.).
i was the charge nurse at a medical facility and the only rn on duty, so i couldn't leave.
i was unable to reach my oldest daughter, so i called the twins (the ones that are shunning me).

Hi, MsMcDucket-
I hope your hubby is feeling much better. I don't have Sickle-cell, but I personally have had friends amd relatives of friends die from it.
I feel for you that no one informed you of the fact that they checked in on your husband. People can often be cruel without even knowing it. The Dubs who have DFd relatives do all of that shunning, as though you hurt them, when really they are the ones causing all of the hurt.Be strong.

Does the King Kong movie have racist overtones?
by enlightenedcynic inhey everybody,.
was having a discussion with a co-worker about the new kk movie.
he asked if i saw it already.

Being that I am half-black and half-white, I believe that I can be the most objective person to post on this topic! LOL!Next, Kong is a King, after all. He has people worshipping him, making sacrifices to him and what not. He is a lot like Jehoover. The blonde (blond?) represents the bride class of the 144 grand glorious ones. Hmm...or not.
Hey, how many black 144k's are there? I used to know one, but he got DF'd and lost out on that hope.
Remember Mighty Joe Young? What was that all about? They made a remake of MJY. An afican-american radio personality from an african-american radio station here in Philly said about MJY: Mighty Joe Young is a misunderstood brother. This prompted me and one of my black co-workers to have a discussion called, "Are they a brother?". We came up with a few brothers of TV/Movie fame: Scooby-Doo, Godzilla, Ultra Man, Bobby Hill, Darth Vader, Herman Munster, and Garfield.
Awesome movies with a black central character or casts:
A Soldier's Story. This move was very good. It had racism of northern blacks vs. southern blacks, blacks blaming the whites for a specific murder, a black lead investigator. A plot twist or two. Excellent acting and story. In the Heat of the Night. A Philly cop in a mostly racist Mississippi town. Strong black character 10 times smarter than all other (white) characters.
The Color Purple. Directed by the very white Steven Spielberg. Believable acting. Sad and touching movie.
City of God, Rabbit Proof Fence (both non-american films depicting stories involving people of color), Waiting to Exhale, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Ray, Shaft (because he's a baaad mother...shut your mouth), Carmen Jones (starring Dorothy Dandridge), To Kill a Mockingbird, and X.
I don't thing King Kong is with racial overtones (or, is it undertones?). I always thought the plot was a little ridiculous, however. How on earth does he expect to "get his groove on" with this woman? It won't fit! Also, why come the woman won't pass out from the smell of Kong? Also, imagine how big his poops must be! Imagine if you had to clean it up. I would have to find another job.
