Update On My Dad
by cruzanheart inhe's doing a little better, thank you, taking his antidepressants, staying off the sauce (we hope) and seeing a psychiatrist every week.
we got my mom settled in her new nursing home and are trying to start the process of getting her on medicaid.
we told dad we'd take care of it, and while he's not terribly thrilled with giving up financial control, he's just going to have to.. i've decided he has a streak of masochism in him or else he's a closet catholic, because he wanted to confess all to the committee of elders that disfellowshipped/reinstated him last time.

Perhaps This Is My Final Post - MARYLAND

my dad is still here in pennsylvania due to his employment circumstance.
however, today is his last day at his job.

My dad and his lovely wife (both not JWs) moved to Maryland about (6) weeks ago. My dad is still here in Pennsylvania due to his employment circumstance. However, today is his last day at his job. He officially will be in Maryland TONIGHT (Friday, October 4th).
I am following him down there and I will be spending the night at his house. Big deal, right?
Well, it just so happens that they live in Silver Spring, Maryland (Montgomery County), where some sharpshooting NUT is going around killing folks at random. The killer or killers are still on the loose.
Two things: 1) Keep me in your thoughts and hope I don't get shot and 2) Does anyone live in this area and would like to hook up with me? I'll be there tonight and tomorrow.
Here's the info about the killings:
Police offered these details of the Thursday attacks:
- At 7:41 a.m., police were called to a crime scene and found James L. Buchanan, a 39-year-old landscaper identified as the son of a retired Montgomery County police officer, who had been shot while mowing at Fitzgerald Auto Mall, a car dealership on Rockville Pike.
- At 8:12 a.m., a caller reported that Prenkumar Walekar, 54, a taxi driver from Olney, Maryland, was shot and killed while he was filling his minivan with gas at a Mobil station in Aspen Hill.
- At 8:37 a.m., Sarah Ramos, 34, of Silver Spring, was killed at a post office near Leisure World, a retirement community on International Drive. It was in that shooting that a witness told police that two people in a white van with black lettering on its side and a damaged rear lift sped away from the parking lot immediately afterward.
- At 9:58 a.m., Lori Ann Lewis-Rivera, 25, of Silver Spring was reported shot in a Shell gas station on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington, where she was vacuuming her late-model purple Plymouth Voyager van.

HARTWELL Hart County authorities have filed involuntary manslaughter charges against the mother of an 11-month-old girl who drowned in the family's bathtub two weeks ago.
Tonya Lee Parker, 31, of 135 Kotal Road in western Hart County, was arrested Tuesday morning and released on $10,000 bond. Mrs. Parker was at home when her youngest daughter, Alyssa McKenzie Parker, slipped under her bath water on Sept. 17.
The 11-month-old Alyssa survived on life support at Greenville Memorial Hospital for three days. She died on Sept. 20.
Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland made it clear Thursday that investigators aren't accusing Mrs. Parker of any criminal intent leading to the death of her child.
"But she's in charge of that child," Sheriff Cleveland said. "When you neglect that charge and a death results, the state has no choice but to charge her."
In an interview on Sept. 20, Mrs. Parker said she had been up all night with her sick daughter and was preparing to give her a bath on Sept. 17 when a group of Jehovah's Witnesses knocked on her door. She said she started talking to the visitors, whom she knew, and forgot that her daughter was in the bathroom.
The baby's father, Danny Parker, attempted to revive her until an ambulance arrived about 17 minutes after Mrs. Parker called 911. Mrs. Parker claimed responsibility for her child's death but said she said she believed her life could have been saved if medical help had arrived sooner.
In a Sept. 20 interview, Hart County Emergency Medical Service Director Terrell Partain said the Parkers' newly named drive had not yet been entered into the county's 911 database on Sept. 17, which delayed efforts to find the family's home, probably by at least seven minutes.
If she is convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Mrs. Parker won't necessarily serve jail time, Sheriff Cleveland said. He said a judge could sentence her to intensive probation if he chooses to.Edited by - Funchback on 4 October 2002 9:9:55

i have been following most of the posts made here quietly for about 4 months and i would like to thank all of you who are called apostates for the well documented and researched material you have presented here.thanks to you i know now the truth about the wt organization and i'm no longer blind and misled.
i disassociated myself about 2 months ago after 15 years of very "faithful" service to the society.i was regular pioneer for 12 years and an elder for 8 years, i served mainly as the service overeer.my experience was published in the 2 of the society's magazins.. as i was a very zealous and prominent elder in my circuit i zealously promoted the organizational rules and i allowed myself to be fully used by the society to promote those mind controle techniques that now i know hurt those who were my sheep.

Hi, Six.
I agree with you regarding the putting together of many characters and making it work well. I liked Ice Cube in 'Boyz N The Hood' but not in 'Anaconda'. He was really good in 'Barbershop' and 'Friday'.
'My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding' was excellent! I need to go and check that out again!
I heard that 'Monsoon Wedding' is supposed to be good. The Security Guard at my job (an Indian Woman) was telling me about it.
Growing up in a mostly black neighborhood, I must say that black folks don't necessarily talk MORE than white folks during a movie. Black folks are just louder. However, that could just be a stereotype because the theater where I saw 'Barbershop' was filled with mostly white teens. They had a Security Guard standing around who ended up kicking some people out.
White or Black or otherwise...you hafta be a real numbskull to waste your $8.50 by getting kicked out at a movie.
