I listen to Rap (mostly Old School).
The best "white" Rap group (in my opinion) was 3rd Bass (although their group was short lived).
MC Search and Pete Nice aka 3rd Bass. Two Jewish guys from New York.
One night at the Apollo, before they were really known, they came out on stage to perform 'Steppin to the A.M.' Pete Nice said to the crowd of mostly black folks with puzzled (and angry) looks on their face: "If you're black and proud, let me see you put your hands in the air".
The audience was almost in stunned silence. Pete Nice then says, "What? Y'all ain't proud?".
Then, they performed the song. By the end, the crowd was wild because they liked the performance so much! Everyone was jumping and screaming and applauding.
Man, I miss 3rd Bass.
