Just curious.... 1. Who was headlining the show at the club? 2. Which song was she mouthing the words to?
Anyhow, that must've been hilarious to see.
so about last night.... i am out at a local club (not restaurant, not event venue - a club) to see a rap concert.
now, i am with some friends minding my own business, and i find that i am standing right behind 3 active jw's - one of whom used to be my best friend.
this girl is as fake as they come: 1) she used to live with me and would bring non-jw guys home all the time, 2) was living with a man when she lived down south - until he dumped her, and then she decided to go back to jw's the 1st time and got reproved, and i supported her.
Just curious.... 1. Who was headlining the show at the club? 2. Which song was she mouthing the words to?
Anyhow, that must've been hilarious to see.
my aunt was a very attractive woman and it's hard sitting back and watching time rob her of her beauty and memories, but time has nothing on her so called christian brothers and sisters.her husband died about 10 years ago and she started dating an elder that claimed he always loved her since they were kids in the organization.he looks like that thing that was running around in the lord of the rings but what can you do?the courtship lasted 8 years, a couple of times i would stop by to see her and he would be over there in the late evenings with all lights in the house off, which i thought was odd but these people are in their early 60s and i haven't been to a hall in years so it was none of my concern.even if i was still in i wouldn't have said anything anyway.. growing up my aunt was always known in the family as being the air head.so it didn't surprise me when i learned that a couple of years ago the brother married another woman that was 10 years his junior, because you see even if you look like gollum in the hall brothers still have their pick of the litter so to speak.i think that whatever was holding her together snapped at this point, she started wandering around the neighborhood at night showing up at meetings with her make-up all over her face and her clothes backwards or inside out, then she started forgetting things and babbling about things that made no sense,a couple of times i found her wandering and i would pick her up and get her something to eat cause she would forget to eat a lot of times.. around this time pictures starting getting around the congregations with her looking a mess in her clothes and make-up.one of my other aunts stumbled upon the photos and she was one of the ones that alerted the rest of the family about her condition along with me (my word carries very little weight since i don't attend the hall) anyway we got her to a doctor and it was found that she has alzheimer's and it was time to settle her affairs as such.
last week as i was moving out her furniture and other items since her house is going to be sold my cousin tells me that the bank employees that my aunt used knew her elder friend very well and that her always came with her to the bank to withdrawl money.they wouldn't tell her how much was withdrawn but they nodded their heads when she said was it thousands of dollars?.
hearing this i get pissed to the highest level of pisstivity if there is such a thing.i tell my mom since she is so buddy buddy with the guy and she goes ballistic he is a servant of jehovah how dare you, there isn't any proof and innocent until proven guilty it was only until i told her that she better pray that i remain calm and not give into the anger that i feel and take a little trip to her congregation and pull him from the stage and beat the shit out of him that got her to shut up.only in a cult like this can you defend and she blamed her sister for the whole incident,my aunt was child like when he was making those trips with her to the bank cause at this point she doesn't even know who she is so he had to have seen the evidence of her condition long before we did.. i really hate this religion i've been gone for over 25 years and it still has a way of getting at you thanks for letting me vent.
and we are suposed to trust these guys with our lives?

...We also received a similar direct mail piece from the Telly Awards. According to their website, they received 14,000 entries last year from small agencies that were hoping to promote their businesses, each paying a minimum entry fee of $85.00. Do the math. That means that this questionable award generated at least $1,190,000.00 for its promoters! Want to, once again, add insult to injury? If you “win” one of these dubious awards, you will be automatically charged an additional $170.00 for your award statuette (probably plastic) and your certificate. I guess this is a bargain compared to the Davey Awards, since the minimum entry fee is slightly less, and you will pay $5.00 less for your statuette if you “win”. It is no surprise that, if you search for “Telly Awards scam” on Google, there are currently 24,400 search results. The Telly Awards and Davey Awards are not alone in preying upon start-up companies that are eager (or desperate) to broaden their exposure. They are joined by the Webby Awards and many, many other questionable enterprises that appear to be in the business of generating entry fees and selling statuettes. Do you think that anyone who wins an Emmy, Academy Award, or Grammy pays for their award?
The above is from 2011. For the WTBTS, desperate times call for desperate measures?

in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.
it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.
the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

its saturday morning here on the east coast of america.
i haven't been out in service in probably getting close to two years.
i wake up every saturday extremely happy and thankful im not getting up to go f-ck up my morning and my neighbors morning, not today, not ever again.
I work on Saturdays from 9 to 1. Much more enjoyable than knocking on doors of empty homes.
Sunday mornings are awesome. No alarm clock. No meeting. #TheGoodLife
was this one of those jw urban legends at every hall?.
when i was 7 years old and began attending meetings, one of the first things i heard people say was "don't challenge satan!",.
i thought, 'what would happen if i challenged satan?
Lol @ Funchback. But what was the challenge about? Who would run down the stairs first? Excellent post and name BTW.
I didn't know what the challenge was. But, that's what they kept telling that then-seven-year old boy.
Maybe Satan can be like Frank Costanza ('Seinfeld') and have a Feats of Strength challenge.

Being 7 and all, I couldn't help myself. I thought, 'What would happen if I challenged Satan? What does that even mean? What if I challenge Satan in my head...Will he be able to read my mind?'
Then, one day at school, I was running down the stairs to the gymnasium. No one was around. I shouted, "I challenge you, Satan!". Then.........Wait for it.......Nothing.....Nothing happened. I didn't become possessed. The ceiling didn't collapse on my head. I didn't fall down the stairs.
I was like, 'What was the big deal about that?'
For those keeping score at home, it's Brian 1, and the devil formerly known as Satan 0.
happy friday to all!.
i haven't been to a meeting for maybe 10 years.
i only know what's happening nowadays from the experiences i read here or the internet in general.. anyway, on to the topic: i started attending meetings at the age of 7. as a kid, the only thing i looked forward to at the assemblies (circuit/district) was walking around veteran's stadium (philadelphia district convention) during intermission, hanging with friends, looking at girls (as i got a little older) and trying to have enough tickets to get pizza!.
The Vet was a giant soup bowl and the field was artificial turf. This means if the temperature was, say, 90 degrees, then the temperature on the field was probably 110 or higher (source: http://articles.philly.com/2003-07-24/sports/25452135_1_phillies-first-baseman-john-kruk-thermometer). The attendants had to sit on a chair on the field using an umbrella for shade. Oh, and they weren't permitted to remove their suit jackets. It was both sad and pathetic.
