I wasn't able to read any comments there either. Perhaps the newspaper is afraid of a little bit too much openness on their discussion boards.

The email address of the Press Herald's reporter mentioned it the article byline is: [email protected]
Here's the letter I emailed to him:
--------
Hello Seth:
My family and I have had nearly forty years of experience with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses).
The Jehovah's Witnesses are a dangerous and deadly mind control cult. They have a history of 130 years of failed prophecies, but they hide this and other embarrassing facts from prospective recruits. Their unwarranted proscriptions on medical treatment (blood transfusions, organ transplantation, and immunizations) have caused the deaths of uncounted thousands of victims. As with other odious cults, the Jehovah's Witnesses prohibit any questioning of its leaders and any public expression of doubt about the whatever the current beliefs happen to be. New members are forced to abandon any non believers, and any existing member is excommunicated without hesitation for a single instance of any of a myriad of so called offenses. All members are forbidden to read any material critical of the cult or to even speak with a former member.
If you don't believe this, check it out for yourself. A good starting point:

Freddie Franz in the Afterlife
by Skimmer inhere's a question from readers that we'll never see: .
q: given that fred franz was the wtbts chief theologian for over sixty years until his death back in 1992 and that since then just about everything he taught including just about all of his chronological fantasy has been discarded, how do you explain the following: .
1) if he's ruling in heaven along with a good chunk of the 144,000 fds class, how come he's allowed his life work to be tossed in the trash?

Here's a Question From Readers that we'll never see:
Q: Given that Fred Franz was the WTBTS chief theologian for over sixty years until his death back in 1992 and that since then just about everything he taught including just about all of his chronological fantasy has been discarded, how do you explain the following:
1) If he's ruling in heaven along with a good chunk of the 144,000 FDS class, how come he's allowed his life work to be tossed in the trash? (The same could be asked of all of the deceased WTBTS presidents.)
2) Presumably, Freddie was shown that his writings were loaded with error -- how do you think he reacted to reproof? (Consider that he had never had a sense of humility during his Earthly stay.)
3) How is Freddie channeling his wisdom to God's Only True Channel today? Dreams? Visions? Fortune cookies? Graffiti in the Brooklyn restrooms?
4) Does Freddie have his own room, just like the old days? You know, when everyone else had to (and still has to) put up with a roommate?
5) Is it possible that Freddie has since gotten the real truth, (up close and eternally), that the dozen of references to a literal hell are actually correct? I ask this only as it would explain quite a bit. -

Generation - Prep for bigger change?????
by The Scotsman inthis apparent change to the "generation" is pretty major i think.. when we consider all of the changes in understanding (i mean flashes of light!.
the 1995 change extended this old system by detaching the generation from 1914.. then the may 2007 wt qfr detached the gathering of the anointed from 1935.. now the latest change detaches the generation from all mankind except the small group of anointed.. and because of the 1935 detachment this could run for quite sometime.. most r & f jws will embrace this with both hands.
for me that is my greatest concern - millions will not even stop to think that we only had a flash of light about.

Given that 2014 is only a few years away plus the penchant of JWs for numerology, I don't doubt that there is fear among the JW elite that there will be a significant downturn when many R&F JWs start thinking "a hundred years, and still nothing".
The WTBTS will soon drop 1914 as being of any significance and by the time 2014 rolls around, the WTBTS will scold the R&F for unwarranted speculation.
The only way that the WTBTS might hang on to 1914 is if the connected 2034 date can be used for effective fear mongering. -

Dennis Kucinich would get my vote at this time. He's the only major candidate to advocate prosecution of at least some of the war criminals in the current administration. Plus, his wife is a real babe and only half his age -- I figure he must have a big johnson and so won't be tempted into military conquests -- no need for compensation that seems to affect American neocons.
Ron Paul is a second choice, but I already voted for him once when he ran for president on the Libertarian ticket.
I have heard some people talking about voting for Romney or some similar troglodyte as the best means of accelerating the country's collapse so a new start can be tried sooner rather than later. -

Is it such a big surprise that the really cheap notebooks and desktops have such poor customer service? For a very cheap computer, once you subtract the cost of materials, assembly, shipping, and profit, well, there's not just much left for decent customer service.
I recommend Apple Macintosh notebooks as I've had many years of good experience with them. Yes, they do cost more, some US$1,100 for the entry level MacBook. But you get quite a bit for the money, and you can get one in person (so to speak) if you're not too far away from an Apple Store. And if the machine has a problem, you can take it back locally and speak with people who have understandable accents.
For the record, I paid US$2,500 for a MacPro desktop and the same for a MacPro notebook and I have no regrets. For those with a tight budget, I suggest considering the US$600 MacMini if you already have (or are willing to buy) a separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
All the new Apple computers can run Windows as well, although you'll have to pay extra for the software if you go this route. They can also run Linux, and that's free. But most owners are satisfied with the installed OS and applications. For the cognoscenti, Mac OS/X is based on OpenBSD Unix and includes X Windows, so there's plenty of free stuff available for porting. -

"Question Authority"(think for yourself) is it a good or bad idea?
by frankiespeakin inwhat your opinion?.
should we question religous authority only?
what about governmental authority?
-

I claim that it is the personal responsibility of each and every thinking American to question authority, particularly governmental authority. Sadly, there has been too little questioning as of late and this goes a lot way in explaining why the country is in such a mess.
