Hey! The WTBTS "education" program really works! Obviously, he learned from the masters.
in another thread, someone stated: .
"also, a few years ago the wtbts was burned badly, albeit on a small scale, with the bonham, texas congregation declaring independence and siezing their own kingdom hall in the process.
since then, the wtbts has taken the appropriate legal steps to make sure that if any congregation splits, the assets will still belong to those faithful to the wtbts.

i havn't been to the kigdumb hall in 3.5 years and have no intention of ever going back.
i have a collection of some of the rainbow books from da judge as well as da judges edited copies of 6 0f the 7 studies in the scripturs.
should i get rid of them?
Ah, but they do burn very well. All of mine went into the fireplace shortly after I left back in the early 1970s.
i had a victim call me after they had called bethel this morning.
they were informed bethe was offically closed till 1:30 pm for a special meeting with the bethel family.
would anyone care to speculate or verify the purpose of the meeting?
Hello lisaBObeesa:
The Bonham, Texas congreagation did indeed split from the WTBTS in 1986. The case went to court and the WTBTS lost. They will not soon let such happen again.

Hello anewperson:
I did not reference the flaming as I try to abstain from readng flaming threads as I am not particularly interested in their contents.
As far as I can tell, the WTBTS has given up on trying to surpress the _Pay Attention_ elder's manual. Certainly there is no difficulty in downloading a copy. The last thing the WTBTS wants to do is to draw even more attention to any ex-JW site. A tangent: note that the WTBTS has never issued any sort of comment about either of Ray Franz' books for fear of popularizing them.
Do you think that the WTBTS will cut printing staff? When they have done this in the past, it meant only that the printing work was moved to a more producive (or less taxed) site.
I for one would like to the the "total printing" press run numbers appearing in the _Watchtower_ start declinnig, but I don't think it's happened yet.

Hello anewperson and thank you for your interesting postings.
I think that a large scale schism is unlikely. The big splits endured by the WTBTS in the 1917-1925 timeframe were possible in part because of the relative autonomy enjoyed by the congregations ("ecclesia", back then). Also, today's JWs are much more programmed and isolated (via enforced shunning) from those most likely to tolerate or support a split.
Also, a few years ago the WTBTS was burned badly, albeit on a small scale, with the Bonham, Texas congregation declaring independence and siezing their own Kingdom Hall in the process. Since then, the WTBTS has taken the appropriate legal steps to make sure that if any congregation splits, the assets will still belong to those faithful to the WTBTS. An exception might occur if nearly an entire circuit splits and all the JWs whose names are on the circuit holding corporation band together in opposition to the WTBTS. Even then, there still might be legal hurdles in taking the property away from control of the WTBTS.
I am somewhat surprised at any cutting of the Bethel staff, at least the productive members, as the WTBTS makes money on all of them as long as the contributions keep rolling in for the literature. However, there might very well be reductions in staffing for positions not directly relating to printing or its support. More probable are reductions in the travel budget and a slowing or cessation of new real estate investments.
In regard to pressuring ISPs to censor ex-JW sites, I doubt if there will be more then a few half-hearted attempts at best. The WTBTS was rather scorched in the public image area when they tried going after those posting the secret elder's manua; and so Brooklyn wisely gave up.

anyone got any good information as to why dubs dont like beards?
in 18 years, i have yet to understand why.
if its brought up tonight by anyone, what should i say?
If you have a beard and some elder or other WTBTS automaton gives you a hard time, try one or more of the following:
1. Say "I'm waiting on Jehovah to provide me with a free razor."
2. Tell them "I'm waiting on the organization to get its collective head out of its collective rectum."
3. Mention that the beard was shaven off at the end of the Hirsute Times, but it was a spiritual shaving and so was invisible to the worldly.
4. Say that this generation will by no means pass away until you get a shave.
5. Tell them that only Jehovah knows the day and the hour of your next shave; also, that you know the year but will keep it private in order not to raise expectations.
6. Offer to shave as soon as some householder trades you a brand new, high-end electric shaver for a two month old _Watchtower_.
7. Ask them if they've made any recent financial contributions to the World Wide Work of Barber Supplies.
8. Tell them that your beard is unlikely to stumble anyone until it gets to be about two meters long.
9. [Deleted: crude comment comparing the neatness of your beard with the PO's wife's pubic hair.]
10. Say that you often cut yourself when shaving and that you want to abstain from blood.
Bonus: Show them a picture of C. T. Russell.
what will happen the day after?.
i have a recent personal experience from "field service" that may shed a little light on this subject.. first, i do believe that many of my "bros and sises" will see this.
they are all dateline watchers, and just knowing their personalities, if they are able, they will watch.. will they talk about it amongst themselves?
Wouldn't it be wonderful if this and some of the other real truth web sites were mentioned in the Dateline program or on their web site?
To Simon: please consider measuring the access count to the board before and after and see how much of a change occurs, just in case the URL is referenced.
----------
If Dateline is going to play on the angle of the WTBTS ducking its legal responsibility, I hope that they will pick up on the infamous secret oral instructions by the WTBTS to the elders on "what not to put on disfellowshipping forms." Maybe Dateline could also mention the Pay Attention book and how it is kept secret along with the unprinted legal evasion hints concerning plausible denial.
----------
I'm not sure how much of an impact the Dateline program will have on the making of new converts in the field service, because the English speaking portion of the field service in the United States is pretty dead already. The big effect is going to be on current JWs who sneak a peek at the broadcast.
----------
It is possible that the WTBTS might try to organize some kind of orchestrated grass roots response to NBC. That's okay; we can do that as well.

Hello wasasister:
I think you are right about a damage control article or two. Also, I suspect a few preemptive paragraphs in the upcoming Kingdom Ministries. I don't think there will be any attempts at slander, or at least none that can be traced to the elite for fear of further lawsuits.
From the platforms, I expect that there will be further warnings against "apostate" literature and this will be expanded to include televised information. The sheep will be reminded that voluntary viewing or listening to opposer information is a disfellowshipping offense.
The WTBTS may wait until after the airing of the program and measure the fallout to come up with more specific answers that will likely appear as letters to elders.
question.
my mother told my husband that there is to be a 'special meeting' in october at the local sports arena (same place as dc's are held here) and that "only publishers are allowed to attend" that they will get "special cards" for admission from their local congregation and have to hand them in to get into the building.
i have no idea if this has anything to do with the "annual meeting" they always have (isn't that generally in october?
Hello belbab and thank you for your thought-provoking posting.
You just might be right; this could be the second shoe dropping, the first being the disconnection between the governing body and the WTBTS directors back in October 2000.
Has there been much written about the governing body in the past year of WTBTS literature? Perhaps there are some hints there. Alternatively, the lack of any such articles would also be a hint.
Perhaps this is the next step in the end of the "FD&S equals anointed" doctrine. Maybe the doors to being of the anointed will once again swing open; although the passage for new members will depend upon years and years of unquestioning service.
