My mother dropped by to see her new grandson, but only stayed for about 20 minutes. She wouldn't leave the kitchen though, because she couldn't bear to see our Christmas tree.

"disfellowshipping does not sever family ties.".
or so claims the watchtower's official faq.
so, i would like to take an informal poll: how has being disfellowshippid/ disassociated/ inactive/ just having doubts affected relations with your family?

when i was 13, all of the other kids in my congregation were taking home school, getting them out of the "bad association" in public school.
they talked me into it too.. of course, at 13 trying to get me to actually do the schooling was a feat that no one could master.. i worked for a brother in the cong.
full time, and never finished the schooling.. so...flash forward.
LOL
Did the fact that you were functioning as General Manager of a Multiplex, with no academic background in Business Administration, perhaps have anything to do with the Multiplex closing? (he he, I'm just joking)
Funny girl
I got a job today as the asst. manager of another theater making the same as I was making as the GM at the other place. It all worked out for the best.
Many thanks to all of you for your support!
Chris
P.S. BugEye, you are cracking me up with those variations on my nick!

common psychological problems of mind manipulation:.
the following problems and emotions are common with survivors.
these are all normal emotions and will pass as you recover.. keeping a journal and sorting one's overwhelming feelings is most healing and helps work through feelings of betrayal and abuse.
Wow, I have hadmany of those symptoms, and still have a few. Very interesting.
TR my quote is an example of the symptom: sexuality problems
"Forget the tribe, my pants have spoken."
i copied my reply from the "can you confirm this wt quote" thread because i wanted to highlight the need to be careful when talking to jw relatives.. it all started out as a joke for my jw brother.
for 7 years, since i left the wts, i've kept silent about what i've found out about the wts to prevent my losing contact with him and his family.. i sent him an email the other day jokingly wondering if he was going to stop preaching since the 20th century is over, included in the email was the wt quote from 1-1-89. he emailed me back, saying that he looked it up and it said "our generation".
i replied by saying that the quote was changed because of the screw up.
Hey TR,
I accidently opened a can of worms with my little brother yesterday too!! We were talking about the upcoming Dateline episode, and I think that he may think of me as "apostate" now too. We were chatting via AOL instant mess. and he just signed off in the middle of the discussion.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm in the boat with ya.
Wow, with the cartoons and now this, we are starting to seem a lot alike. Scary.

Oh my, profiting from the teachings of the WT.
We should come up with something, and market it towards JW's, and use the profits to further the "real truth".

in the short time that i've been posting here, i've seen a variety of opinions and a variety of personalities.
there are those who write intelligent, thought provoking, posts.
how often were you allowed to complain?.
In the short time that I've been posting here, I've seen a variety of opinions and a variety of personalities. There are those who write intelligent, thought provoking, posts. There are those who write humorous, lighthearted, posts. Those who complain, and those who simply need to "vent". Some are seeking advice, some are offering advice. Everyone here has an opinion about something
Isn't that what makes this place so great? How often were you able to express your own opinion in the organization? How often were you allowed to ask questions? How often were you allowed to complain?
I realize that I am new here. I haven't seen the "H2O" influence because before I came here, I only thought of H2O as water.
Ther are negative influences here. They are in the posts that complain about "How things have changed". However, these negative influences are welcome in my eyes. How refreshing to be a part of something where EVERYONE is allowed to express themselves in what ever way they see fit.
To sum things up, I hope that everyone here stays. I hope that they keep on complaining, keep on writing thought provoking posts, keep on with the humor that makes me laugh every day, keep on with the questions, and keep on with the advice.
Should things change, and people begin to leaave, so be it. New people are joining every day, and I hope that they all feel welcome to express themselves in whatever means they see fit.

filming for the scooby doo movie here in oz finished recently.
original scooby doo plots involved a villain (ghost, monster, god, demon) spooking an area until scooby and the gang set a trap and the villain was unmasked.
the watchtower version would have a bloke running around in a rubber mask claiming to be someone named g. hovah, and that anyone who didn't give him all their money and time to him (via his representatives) would be doomed to die very shortly in a horrible fashion.
"and I would've gotten away with it too...if it weren't for those meddling kids!"

Wow! You guys are great. I didn't really expect much of a reply. I really kind of just felt frustrated at the time I wrote that, and needed to vent.
Thank you so much for all of the much welcomed advice. I know that I have many options at my disposal. I've always known about these choices I could make, but have been satisfied with my income at the theater. I always thought that I could do no better, since I was a seventh grade drop out, making $36,000 a year.
I've spent the last week actually sulking about it, and now I feel so encouraged knowing that I'm not the only person out there who has gone through this.
Thank you so much for the swift kick in the butt!!! You guys are great!

P.S. Happy Mother's Day Mommy and all of you other mommies out there!

Waiting,
1. Does the personnel department know your a jw?
2. Is the personnel department jw's?
3. If the personnel department is halfway trained - they would never ask you about your religion. It's illegal in the usa - if that's where you're at.
4. If the personnel department does ask you about your religion, let alone if you're disfellowshipped - in the usa, you've got a case if you tape record it.
5. If they are looking for qualified persons - I really don't think they'll care about your status. Good people are hard to find.
