Hypocrisy in Bethal V's the publishers
by sleepy inlets see what is the difference between a bethalite and a publisher?.
when working in bethal you are considered to be a pioneer.. that means in bethal you can do carpentry , cleaning , cooking , painting ,washing clothes , ironing sorting out bills and accounts and many other jobs and be considered a pioneer and spiritualy strong.. you can even miss meetings do no ministry in the week and still be spiritualy strong.. if extra work is needed to be done you can miss meetings to do it and still be considered a pioneer and spiritually strong.. if you are a publisher and spend all week doing house work , decorating your house sorting bills out a miss a meeting or don't go on the ministry you are spiritually weak.. the elders will be concerned at your lack of spiritual goals and you may become an iregular publisher or even inactive.. of course the publisher has the advantage of having to do all his/her menial tasks after working full time to pay the bills.. i wish i could be spiritually strong like those bethalites.. of course as a publisher if i had a house kept as well as bethal employing all those extra workers to do so i would be considered materialistic, but the governing body can do that and still be considered spritualy strong.. of course there are no class distinctions with jehovahs witnesses all are equal just some more than others.

Lets see what is the difference between a bethalite and a publisher?
When working in Bethal you are considered to be a pioneer.
That means in Bethal you can do carpentry , cleaning , cooking , painting ,washing clothes , ironing sorting out bills and accounts and many other jobs and be considered a pioneer and spiritualy strong.
You can even miss meetings do no ministry in the week and still be spiritualy strong.
If extra work is needed to be done you can miss meetings to do it and still be considered a pioneer and spiritually strong. If you are a publisher and spend all week doing house work , decorating your house sorting bills out a miss a meeting or don't go on the ministry you are spiritually weak.
The elders will be concerned at your lack of spiritual goals and you may become an iregular publisher or even inactive.
Of course the publisher has the advantage of having to do all his/her menial tasks after working full time to pay the bills.I wish I could be spiritually strong like those bethalites.
Of course as a publisher if i had a house kept as well as Bethal employing all those extra workers to do so I would be considered materialistic, but the governing body can do that and still be considered spritualy strong.
Of course there are no class distinctions with Jehovahs witnesses all are equal just some more than others. -

Friends we are too unbalanced.
by sleepy inwell sometimes we are.. look we have the knowledge and experience to help a lot of people.must of us have one time been jw's and understand how many think.so lets not put them off by being too negative.. when we were witnesses most of us were quite happy .
we tried to be good people , to put into practise principles that many people think are good.
we did this sometimes even when we didn't want to , because we thought god would hold us accountable and because we cared for people .

Just been rereading some chapters in ISOCF and noticed some comments of Ray Franz.
Pg 556-557,
"The organistation now know as Jehovahs witness from its begining somewhat over a centuary ago gave promise of much that was appealing...It is not that the goal were disgarded outright or that no progress was made toward any of them.To take the veiw that there is nothing good whatsoever to be found in the religion of Jehovahs witnesses and to engage as some former witnesses do , in a career of deriding it only manifest intense bias....If there was nothing good whatsoever there , then why were they drawn to it in the first place, or why did they remain in it for five, ten, twenty or even more years?" -

Lord of the Rings
by think41self inhey guys,.
the family and i just got back from seeing the movie.
those of you who read the books will not be disappointed!

I was left a little disappointed but that's because like many others I've read the books.
Without going into detail I didn't like the fact that the journey the fellowship undertakes didn't have a feeling of distance or adventure to it.
You could have made a three hour film with just the journey from the shire to Rivendell.I wish the film was less Hollywood and more substance.
Even though not a Hollywood film it was still influenced by what cinema goers expect to see. Why can't someone have the guts to be different.
I just recently saw a film called Amilee (or something like that )a French film defiantly the best I'd seen in ages.
Nothing like crappywood.
Couldn't believe how bad the star wars trailer looked as well.
Sorry but I hate Hollywood ,please will all film directors forget pandering to the masses and start inspiring them. -

The most violently insane acts in the Bible.
by sleepy inthe bible contains accounts of some horrendously voilent happenings.. some more graphic then many modern films.. this disturbs many when they first read those accounts.. heres one that stood out to me when i first read it.. 1 samuel 15:33 "with that samuel went hacking a'gag to pieces before jehovah in gil'gal".
it wasn't enough just to kill him but samuel hacked him to pieces in front of a large crowd of people.. i wouldn't want to get into a tangle with samuel if he got out of the wrong side of bed that morning.

Heres another one.
2 samuel 20:9,10.
"9.And Joab proceeded to say to A.ma'sa: "Is it all right with you, my brother?"Then Jo'abs right hand took hold of A.ma'sa's beard so as to kiss him."Ah isn't that nice.Lovely bloke that Joab.
Oh no wait there whats this?"10.As for A.ma'sa he was not on guard against the sword that was in Joabs hand;so that he struck him with it in the abdomen, and his intestines spilled out to the earth, and he did not have to do it to him again. So that he died."
If this was a film I wonder what rating it would have?

Climbing mount impossible.
by sleepy inthats what witnesses have to do every day.. why?.
first they are told they are imperfect , that they can never fight the desires of the flesh.. then they are told that they must follow the example of jesus who is perfect.. so they are encouraged to engage in the ministry work attend all meetings do bible study amongst other tasks.. if they fail to do so the magazines and talks make clear they are spiritually weak.
so they must try harder .. to progress you must do more on the ministry go to more meetings and do more study.. yet at what point does imperfection kick in and rule out doing more of these things.. if you fail to go on the ministry on a saturday morning even though you are not in work are you spiritually weak or imperfect?.

That’s what witnesses have to do every day.
why?First they are told they are imperfect , that they can never fight the desires of the flesh.
Then they are told that they must follow the example of Jesus who is perfect.
So they are “encouraged to engage in the ministry work attend all meetings do bible study amongst other tasks.
If they fail to do so the magazines and talks make clear they are spiritually weak. So they must try harder .
To progress you must do more on the ministry go to more meetings and do more study.
Yet at what point does imperfection kick in and rule out doing more of these things.
If you fail to go on the ministry on a Saturday morning even though you are not in work are you spiritually weak or imperfect?
As a witness you never can know.
You are helped to asses your own abilities with the help of the magazines and talks. These will never say if you miss a meeting or don’t study don't worry your are imperfect but will highlight spiritual weakness and encourage you to do more.
But what is imperfection. If it is imperfection that stopped you going on the ministry then you are not spiritually week ad able to do more just imperfect and there is nothing you could do about it. But you are always told you can do more so you always have a mountain to climb.
A witness can never decide he is doing all he can because the magazines and talks will always tell him to do more.Witnesses are left with an impossible task.

Gentile Times
by Masterji inhere is a question from readers.. this was in the days when they were truly from the public.. in establishing the length of the seven times of the gentiles, a time or year of 360 days is used, to give 2,520 days, which become 2,520 years when ezekiel 4:6 is applied.
yet when we figure from 607 b.c.
down to a.d. 1914, the 2,520 years are solar years of 365 1/4 days each, and not lunar years of 360 days each.

A Christian
"Sleepy,
You wrote: It is not logical to concluded that you can change an ancient year of 360 days for one of 365 1/4 without any solid reason to do so.Maybe you misspoke. Because as you probably know, no ancient calendar ever had 360 days. "
The sumerians and ancient Babylonians used a 360 day year.
Thats were we get our 360 degree division of a circle from.
