Disadvantages since leaving the truth?
by haujobbz insince leaving the jws reality can be hard to get used to these are somethings i found hard to adapt to:.
1) starting to celebrate celebrations like birthdays and christmas(i dont mean that christmas is a disadvantage its just getting used to the whole idea).
2) tell others im not a jw because all i used to do is try to convert them and now im telling them i was mislead and dont beleive it anymore.. 3) should i swear,lie,etc.

God's channel withholding information
by ballistic inover the history of the watchtower society, they have published numerous medical articles with warnings of dangerous substances such as aluminium and others promoting quack medicines which never worked.
is it not strange, that the people choosen as "god's channel" would get these things wrong?
even stranger is the lack of information on truly dangerous substances.

Did Franz deliberatly alter the Bible?
by sleepy inits taken as certain by most that the new world translaion is the work of fred franz.. now there are some funny expresions and words he chose to use in that translaion , that most people dont normaly use.but these words and expresions have been turned into catch-phrases by the witnesse, did he choose certain words when others wold have been more accurate in order to do this?
(the expression jehovahs witnesses had already been taken from the bible and used as a "special" phrase).
i wonder more though,did old franz choose these words insead of more common expresions in order to use them to deliberatly make some parts of the bible you woldn't normally link?for example the use of the word time or times in daniel, luke and revelation.is it really the same word that is used in tthe original language or could it be translated a different way, but "times" was used to make the link between them so it would fit in with their ideas on prophecy?are more instances of this in the new world translation?

If you've ever had the privelage of reading some of my posts you will of noticed not the worlds best speller.Often I have an idea to write about and I quickly try to type it but then get stuck on some sticky word I can't spell and have to look it up .By the time i've done it I cant remmeber what I wanted to say.
Anyone else have this problem?

There was a brother in my hall who used to talk VERY quitely and slur his words, it was very difficult to understand what he was saying even when you knew him.
I remmeber him doing presentations and I didn't know what he said let alone the householder who would usually stare for a bit and ask what he said , which he would repeat just as mumbled as at first in the end in would have to butt in and speak for him.Quite embarrassing.

Do apostates go too far?
by sleepy inin our eagerness to highlight all thats wrong with jehovahs witnesses i some times wonder if we go too far.
there are many good points to be made about flaws and problems amoung jehovahs witnesses.but sometimes there just seems to be a bit of nit picking,exagerrated acusations, pointing out problems that apply to virtualy any person or group and making it seem like its only applies to witnesses.
also sometimes we fail to seperate the general witnesses and those in charge when criticising the society.

In our eagerness to highlight all thats wrong with Jehovahs Witnesses I some times wonder if we go too far.
There are many good points to be made about flaws and problems amoung Jehovahs Witnesses.But sometimes there just seems to be a bit of nit picking,exagerrated acusations, pointing out problems that apply to virtualy any person or group and making it seem like its only applies to witnesses.
Also sometimes we fail to seperate the general witnesses and those in charge when criticising the society.
These are really two seperate groups, although some charges apply to both there is a usually a difference in accountability and motive between those who make the rules and those who follow.
These are some of the reasons apostates or others who thought they could prove the truth wrong to me, had no sucsess with me before.They didn't understand what motivates witnesses.I could see for example that witnesses in general tried to be loving, they failed often just like everyone else on earth does.Any lack of love witnesses failed to show to each other is usualy down to human failing not governing body policy.Another point of example is that I never believed that works could save me, I truly believed my works were a demonstration of my faith.So when born agains accused us of trying to be saved through works I could just laugh it off, as that is not what motivated me, nor most witnesses.
Most witnesses believe they are doing Gods will and that God is the most loving kind being.Anything strange he asks of us is just down to our inability to understand.So they believe that shunning for example is loving they don't usualy do it out of spite.
Of course Witnesses are wrong and what they do hurts people, but the point is we must understand the motives of witnesses and when highlighting errors and not twist the motives.We must show them why shunning is wrong , why refusing blood is stupid, that there are paedophiles in their religion
The danger is If we just want to criticize because for the sake of it we could turn just witnesses push in closer to their religion.
