i just got my hands on william zellner's 1981 thesis, of another world, the jehovah's witnesses.
the 124-page work was in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a ph.d, through the sociology department at south dakota state university.
zellner's work looks at how the witnesses recruit new members and retains the converts the last part of his abstract says:it is argued that the social characteristics of a group are more important in the conversion process than in the group's message.. .

It's actually funny to read the posts from the first page, before 2001. Almost to a tee the initial posters dumped out after only less then 10 posts or so. Simon, how long before the "apostates" drove the "witnesses" away? Couldn't have been that long.
well, here are my thoughts on the subject.
we sit here and bash the wbts for having gender separation, but what about us apostates?
