ohnightdivine, it makes a huge difference when even one person believes you or shares your thoughts. I'm glad you found that person.

I'm not alone in the congregation, after all
by ohnightdivine ini can now say that i'm not alone to know ttatt in my congregation, after all.. i have come to know that my close friend is awake, even without me sharing the ttatt with him/her.
on one of our recent conversations i mentioned about being tired and no longer being uplifted anymore, and my friend then told me he/she was feeling the same.
i don't know how it happened but we knew we could trust each other.

Reflecting On Death
by Charles Gillette inreflecting on death.
i can't remember, maybe steve jobs before he died.i thought i would share it with you and see what you think about it, and i'm quoting i think from his book.. "i'm about fifty-fifty on believing in god.
for most of my life, i've felt that there must be more to our own existence than meets the eye.. i might be overestimating the odds 50/50 out of a desire to believe in an afterlife.

I'm reading the Marquis de Sade and he wrote in a dialogue between a priest and a dying atheist, "There is no other world." It's sad but it's just that simple. I don't know of any good reason to believe in an afterlife and anyone who ever told me there I would get one when I died, whether some bright and lofty heaven, some fiery hell beneath the earth, some fairy island in the South China Sea the innards of Mount Tai the jeweled paradise of Amida (see, no one even considers those afterlifes because they're so far out of our experience, but people in imperial China believed in them) whatever, had an agenda of some kind, usually making me stay in line or maintaining their own livelihood, the Governing Body anyone, but it's not just them by far, many religious leaders profit off telling us we'll live forever. We're one of the few animals we know of who know they'll die, elephants seem to also, whales, some other primates. Who wants to die? It's the perfect promise to make because it's a promise that you can't back up, sure they try to but their proof proves nothing, and that's what makes it so appealing and so sinister in some circumstances, if the leaders don't just repeat what someone told them and they believed all their life, too, which I think is usually the case.
Charles Gillette, I take sparky1's perspective as to why you and I and others on this forum still wonder about death from time to time. As a kid the pastor of the church I grew up in taught me that Jesus would return any day now, the trumpet would sound, the dead in Christ would rise first, I can remember the exact words he spoke because he told us so often. It's hard coming to terms with death when you never believed death would find you. But it will, it always does, and if you're not ready it'll come like a "thief in the night."
Get ready for death, do everything you want to do while you're alive, anything you've ever wanted. The only immortality we'll ever know is the world we'll leave behind, the seasons, the hills, the children we bear or adopt in whatever way, our writings, our wisdom, the things we build, recipes, the stories we pass along, the places we love and show to others. That's our immortality. That's our afterlife. It's so hard to accept that sometimes but I'm tired of running from the truth, tired of believing the empty lies of men with nothing to offer but their empty words.
In the Gospel of Thomas it says: "If those who lead you say the kingdom is in the sky, the birds will get there first... But the kingdom is outside you and inside you, whoever knows himself will know this." Which means our body and the world, that's the kingdom, that's where we reign as kings over our own pleasure, over our own experience.
Enjoy your body and this earth while you can, they're truly wonderful. I've just begun to myself.

Kingdom Songs are about as inspiring as a paper bag (well, some of the new ones actually sound kinda nice), I'm not surprised Jehovah's Witnesses went after the competition.

Accept flip flop beliefs....Jehovah is the one who is driving the Celestial chariot
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower bible and tract society uses its governing body to force jehovah's witnesses to accept their flip-flop beliefs and doctrines.
their history of conflicting false teachings and practices have left members in confusion.. in this video, david splane blames jehovah god for all the changing doctrines.
"jehovah is driving the chariot.".

There's a part of me that believes he actually believes that, that he thinks he's following the will of some celestial being, and there's another part of me that thinks he's just passing the buck, Don't blame us guys, we're just doing what God wants. What do other posters think?

Why would Satan give a rats ass about jehovahs witnesses?
by nowwhat? inwe know the answer but for the sake of discussion.
so satan is the ruler of the world and he is hellbent on destroying gods people, why?
satan controls 99.9 % of the world except for one little obscure religious group that no one pays any attention to.

john.prestor
Within their worldview I guess that's just what Satan does, you know? That's who he is, he's just a really evil guy who wants to do evil things. No, it doesn't make sense, anymore than the Baptist, Catholic, Islamic, whatever Satan make sense either.

Flawed Website
by pinkpizza inwhen i first seen this website i actually thought it was a jw website hence the home page and not an ex jw website and i posted a topic thinking people were real witnesses then i quickly discovered it was not and all these people were commenting and embarrassing me and i couldn’t even delete the thread.
then i asked the admin to delete it and i said it was very misleading saying it’s a jw page and he’s like are you serious i deleted your topic and now you are attacking me and it clearly says ex jw page.
he was very rude and btw no where does it say ex jw and you should be able to delete your own threads you start.

I'm with Simon on this one, sometimes we just need to call something what it is. I don't know why they tried to make him look bad, but yeah, that's what they did. If they didn't know who they talked to they would apologize once they saw Simon's post whether in the thread or by emailing him, and I know they haven't done the first, and I'm pretty confident they have't done the second. Dunno who this troll is, but that's what they are: a troll

I don't know if anybody remembers the film The Prodigal Returns, they gave out DVDs at 2014 conventions, but the film features this kid who goes into the city trying to make it big, his brother and father try to talk him out of it, and one day his boss lays him off with two weeks severance, and of course he gets upset, he should be upset. The point being worldly companies will screw you over, don't go for an office job. But then for the Governing Body to turn around three years later and do this to Bethelites, it's just outright, shameful hypocrisy at best or subterfuge at worst, a way of distracting Jehovah's Witnesses from the fact that they're doing the very same thing if not worse, anybody know if Bethelites get any kind of severance?

Who else had to sit though last weeks WT study, 6th Jan 2019 - "Buy Truth and Never Sell It"
by skin inthat title, “buy truth and never sell it”.
is that not our goal has jw’s, to try to sell the truth to those who have the right heart condition to accept it?.

Aaron's story sounds ridiculous right off the bat, it fits too neatly into their usual 'non-Witnesses are cruel' thing. At best they ommitted a hell of a lot of details, people don't spit on others over that, they just don't.
