Would the WBTS ever distort or perhaps embellish 'experiences' ?.......there was a person in our area who studied, got baptized, and before you knew it was a book study reader. Since the person had a history of a dysfunctional drug life, his 'experience' was going to be used at the next district convention. I had known the person previously. You see, we met in one of those devil controlled 12 step groups. As the speaker at the convention was giving the experience there was a bit of distortion and embellishment. The person was sitting just a few rows away and as our eyes met you could see the hurt, fear, and disappointment they were experiencing. Within a few weeks, that person was GONE and left his 'witness life' behind. YES, THEY LIE ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES.

DO YOU APPRECIATE THE CONVENTIONS??
by minimus inthis gem is from the aug.1st wt.
it tells about how in one south american country, every year witnesses walk for miles through the jungle and then travel for hours by canoe just to make the convention.
it is not uncommon for someone to fall into the river or to snag his garments on a bush, therefore their appearance is not quite appropriate.they look somewhat disheveled.

My surreal district convention
by RunningMan inwell, i just got back from yet another summer ass-marathon.
seventeen hours of sitting in hockey arena seats that were made for three hour games, trying to stay awake, while not losing contact with my extremities.. needless to say, the program was dull and boring.
in fact, i'm not completely sure that they didnt just re-run last year's.

Yo Running Man......Why can't I ever find YOUR KIND to sit with? At our last kunvinshun, we were cutting-up in a most irreverent manner. The bro. sitting next to us spent a great deal of time glaring, and afterwards kept dogging us to find out what ' cong. do you two attend ? ' ....anyhoooo thanks for the keen report.

Straw that broke the Camels Back
by Perfection Seeker inso, whats the straw that broke the camels back in your life?
what was the final last straw that made you say thats it- no more?
i have so many-for 15 years i kept getting that last straw-and trying to ignore it- but i think the last straw was when my dad died- everyone kept (keeps) giving me the line of bs about never seeing him again unless i go to meetings.

Having two elders come over under the auspices of one matter, then launching into an all-out 'postate hunt'. That little shepherding call ended with them accusing us of involvement in a very serious felony, something we knew nothing about. What it came down to was 1) their teachings/prophecies aren't true, and 2) the fruitage/conduct in their lives isn't true......hmmmmm.

Why do they go back?
by zenpunk ini always hear at least two stories a year about someone i know who's left the "truth" goes back despite the trauma surrounding their departure.
this morning i heard yet another story.
a few years ago and elder's wife in my former uk congregation abruptly left the organization, surprising everyone and getting a big df in the process.

Lots of good posts.......something else in line with the airplane incident, it's called 'magical thinking' ; every negative thing that happens is interpreted as punishment from God, but back in with the JW mindset, negative experiences are called ' persecution '. A very safe, albeit limited, formula.

Kent....thank-you for your great efforts in exposing the hypocrisy of the WBTS. My disenchantment with them began when I was no longer able to reconcile dishonest and unloving conduct. But it was still, in the back of my mind, just MY experience. Your tireless work of cross-referencing so much of their PRINTED dogma was part of what really helped me see that THE PROBLEM with the WBTS goes all the way back to it's inception. WOW!!...again, thanks..peace to you and yours.

WHY D.A YOURSELF??
by In_between_days inhi guys,.
this is a question for those that have dissasociated yourselves, and it might seem really stupid.. a while back i had a conversation with my parents in which i claimed that if i had ever been baptised i would have certainly dissasociated myself.
i asked whether or not they would still have contact with me.. they said yes, but would avoid having me at family gatherings.. i was not happy with this, but at least it was'nt as bad as shunning.. despite my standing now, my parents are now starting to get over it, and have been great, i cannot imagine my parents shunning me, despite anything i am still their daughter.

Just as I would do everything in my power to end all connections with any other legal entity that conducts itself like the WBTS, I feel that Da'ing sends a clear message that I condem such behavior and that I in no way want to be affiliated with them.
