I searched the faces of these men looking for what, to me, would be any indication that behind those eyes lies true reasoning. Alas, I have no such divining ability. What are they thinking, what are they planning?

I lost my sister today
by teejay inmy mother has six children, all of whom she raised in the truth.
over the years, all of us (with the exception of my older brother) have either left the org behind or got df'd and never bothered to return.
today, out of the blue, my baby sister emailed me to say that she's back to attending all the meetings and even when out in service last saturday.

Teejay,
Someone likened the relationship that some have with the WBTS to an abusive relationship. For what it's worth, statistics show that abuse victims return to their abusers an average of SEVEN times before they leave for good.

My sister called me!!!
by bluesapphire ini've been meaning to post this but have been busy with the new baby.
it's pretty funny.. background: i'm not df or da but my jw sister who i brought into the religion has shunned me for over a year.
according to her she is disciplining me so i'll go back to the meetings.. a few weeks before i had the baby my family gave me a baby shower.

Dear Blue,
Congratulations on your new baby boy. Makes me think of my sweet little nephew. Loved to "chew" on that "chunky chicken",anyway..........Something struck me while reading your experience. I am Da'd, so am familiar with shunning. It bothered me at one time, but I now see many of them as victims. Your sister could be in a very fragile condition even though she might not show it. Seems she is getting a lot of flak for her stance on a number of fronts. Did you say that you "brought her" into the religion? She probably still loves you very much, but perhaps is recuperating from what she see's as another turn in your life. I try to give people some slack over the way they treat me based on my past conduct. I've changed and hopefully my new life will give them a basis for a different relationship with me. You probably know this already, but go easy as is possible on her.Just my two cents. May all your children be safe and healthy.

Laura,
Good topic. It's something most XJW's can relate too, regardless of age. I am not a teen (haven't been for decades) but just the other day I was thinking about what it was like to not have the freedom to plan for the future. We were told (in 1973), "just rent a shack, put some paint on it, and pioneer til 1975". No college, no property, no savings, no insurance, so many "no's". Some only gave lip-service to the WBTS rules of those daze, and did what they wanted to anyway. But for a great many of us, we are here now facing the future mostly unprepared because we weren't given the freedom to plan for the future.

A magnificent testimony to what this religion and it's more ardent supporters have become................ MAINSTREAM, MATERIALISTIC, BLOATED, CAPITALISTS!!!!!...... not that I have anything against such a life-style, but let's call it as we "see" it.

Yo just2laws,
Success and peace for both of you. When I met you at Princess's party in Seattle last August, you came out and looked at my bike, and there you are on yours, ready for some real "spirituality". Thanks for sharing your journey. I have been wondering what you two would do. I guess you don't have to black-out your faces in group pictures anymore.

spoken to my sister at long last
by nightwarrior inmrs nightwarrior here,.
well i have spoken to a couple of close friends about us leaving the borg, and now after quite awhile, i have told my sister... thankfully it came as a natural progression in a telephone conversation we were having..... i told her about the facts that we have found out over the last few months, and all the research that we had done, and she was not interested, in that she said, the same old thing, that we all seem to hear, well it is a perfect organisation run by imperfect man, oh that really annoys me..and that jehovah would deal with those bros that had been wrong in the way that we have been treat, and that i should stil go to the kh, and sit at the back and listen, and then leave, it was unbelievable.. then i mentioned about the un... she knew nothing of this, and where did i find all the information from...here goes, by researching on the web... well that was a red rag to a bull....she suddenly had to go and do her husbands dinner, after telling me initially that she had time to talk to me.... sadly me sister is a person that unless she has found the information, she does not want to know....and everyone else is wrong.... and yes you guessed right, she is not interested in what i had to say... i mentioned ray franz, and the reasons as to why he was disf.
her answer... well he must have been apostate!!.

Nightwarrior,
When I first read the scripture in 2 Thess.2:11,12, about certain ones wanting to believe the LIE, and taking pleasure in it, I had a pretty distorted picture of those that were being discussed. Experiences like yours help me get a clearer idea of who that scripture applies to, and why they do it.

Have You Ever Considered Suicide? Have You Ever Thought Of Just Not Living
by minimus ini know of a few people that have expressed themselves over the years regarding suicide and their loss of joy in living.
after reading some of the horrendous things some have gone through on this board, it is more than concievable to believe that you might have considered such options.
i, personally have never had these thoughts, but some close to me have expressed that if they "could just sleep" in death, they would feel better.

Gumby,
"hanging on until you get your thoughts and perspectives straight.....", boy!!, how important is that. Been out for almost a year and am only now getting a sense of the stress, anxiety, and some depression that comes from exiting a religion that I'd been apart of for nearly thirty years.

Gumby....I'm not sure if your remark was tongue-in-cheek, but.......
I think the degree of it getting "worse" is in relation to how they are treating those that speak up about 1) the damaging policies still in place, and 2) the incongruity of the flip-flop of former "truths" of which you speak. They have become maniacally desperate and will stoop to any dishonest means in "dealing with" such "apostates". Perhaps,as pointed out before, these are the indications of last stage extinction.
