Marinate with ground cinammon, sugar, cloves, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Cut some slits into the meat and stick in some garlic cloves. Roast in the oven at 500 degrees for half an hour and then turn down to 350 until it's done. Comes out delicious!
I love wasabe paste! My favourite snack is dried edamame peas with wasabe powder! Funny things about that culinary class spitting out the wasabe paste.

"MacDonalds has blood in their hamburgers" -- urban legend from 60s
by cabasilas indoes anyone remember this one?
i was just starting associating in the mid-60s and heard this one from the jws i was associating with.
one jw friend told me: "don't you know macdonalds puts blood into their hamburgers?

My mom apparently believed this and would not let us eat the burgers at MickyDs. Just chicken nuggets or fish sandwiches.

What affected you more, growing up in the cult, or a dysfunctional family?
by Bumble Bee ini think for me, it was the dysfunctional family.
things from my childhood are finally getting to me.
i've tried for so long to just push them to the back of my mind.

I think that the cult contributed to the dysfunction in my family. One, my father never was a believer. This alone put a strain on an already unhappy marriage. And when two people stay in a troubled marriage "for the sake of the kids" it's never a good thing.
My father also was an unbeliever and that is what caused major dysfunction in my family. Also being in a weird family situation (my father having been involved with my mother's sister and had children with her) and then both being immigrant and barely literate. 3 stikes against me all before I even came into this planet. Damn.

What did you get told off for?
by KW13 ini wanted to become an unbaptized publisher, i'd started helping out at the congregation and i was enjoying the responsibilities that any young lad would want to get (as a jw) like doing microphones in absence of brothers and occasionally while they were there as well, before my friends who weren't making 'progress'.. anyway, i went for my unbaptized publisher goal and i got there in the end - making the truth my own, but i was held back by a month or two because some clowns reported me for swearing and a few other things and i have a feeling that was stepdad and/or some of my so called friends jealous of my progress, because immediately after they all became unbaptized publishers .
so...yeah that was mine, i know people have a lot better/worse however you view it but i was so upset by that.
maybe i was swearing, maybe i wasn't at the time i can't remember but i do remember both stepdad/friends swearing on occasions.. as a really young child, i remember mum crying like she often did because she was depressed (what happened to jehoobers happy people) and around a corner outside an elder who i used to like told me it was my fault mum was upset?

I remember there was a year when there were a lot of weddings back to back in the fall months. I went to at least 4 weddings in a two month period and there were several engagements announced. Ok, so it's a Saturday and we were at the meeting before going out in FS at an elder's home. He makes a comment about the weddings and the upcoming weddings. I mentioned how I hated the video cameras; at that time they weren't as discreet as they are now and I mentioned how I especially hated how the person taking the films would create such a scene with the cameras, so it was hard not to notice them and they seemed to disrupt the ceremony. I mentioned how at my own wedding, should there be one (ha!) I would not permit video recorders. The elder got soooooooooooooo defensive and said I had a bad attitude and blah blah blah Jehovah's arrangement and whatever else. I just had to ask "Jehovah's arrangement includes expensive video cameras? What about keeping your eye simple?" That pissed him off even more. Mind you, we were talking about a HYPOTHETICAL wedding. I was about 16 years old! There was no plan in place and yet he felt the need to tell me my business. I guess because he owned a camera? This elder was known for being a bit flashy with his possessions (cars, vacations, etc.)

Take pictures. Start documenting everything: phone calls, time and date, letters with return receipt only. If allowed by your state's laws, record phone conversations. Call your city/county's Housing Department to make a formal complaint. All else fails, call a lawyer.
I've had a lot of bad landlord experiences! I'm very careful about the places I rent these days. Under no circumstances I would a) look at a model apartment instead of the real thing and b)sign a different lease than I had asked for. But for you that's all water under the bridge now. Whatever you do, be sure to create a paper trail.

Smell like a jock strap or like a perfumed girl? Shower Soap ?...
by Little Drummer Boy inon the strength that my recent post concerning cheetos went to 3 pages and was referenced in at least 3 other threads, i feel that the time has come to discuss another most important topic: shower soap.. this thread topic most definitely falls under the category of intellectual starvation topics, so you should be forewarned that terry will not approve.
heh...(just funnin' yah terry).
to the point: i here refer to a liquid soap meant to be applied to a wet shower poof and then scrubbed onto the skin.

A&W I know how hard it is to move on after an abusive relationship, but you will get on and wonder to yourself why you didn't do it sooner!
Dont worry about any of the things left behind. Things can get replaced it's not a big deal.
Take care of yourself!

I made my decision to leave long before I was on the internet---but reading just how corrupt and ungodly the borg is cemented my decision to leave and never look back.

Mother Teresa doubted God's existence during her last years
by Gregor inher personal diarys and letters have revealed she doubted gods reality and this in turn caused her to ask herself "is jesus true?
" she no longer prayed right up until her death.
in my opinion this in no way detracts from her being a wonderful, self sacrificing woman.

I remember these stories circulating just a few short years after her death, and that even an exorcism was performed while she was ailing to purge her "disbelief." I guess I'll google this and confirm what I have read about in the past.
