i grew up in the religion and was baptized at.............supposedly the most important day in our lives and i cannot remember how old i actually was, anyways...... i believe it was 13 or 14. i was never disfellowshipped.
i have a "worldly" boyfriend whom i love dearly, and i no longer attend the "meetings".
i do not disagree with the organization entirely; in fact i am not even sure if i disagree with it at all.

I hope you decide to do some research on the Jehovah's Witnesses. I did that back in my early 20s after several years of doubting what I had been taught to believe since I was born. I know its difficult when that is all you have ever known about religion, but I think that it is your responsibility to learn about the history of your religion--from sources other than that offered by the WTS. maybe i am fussy, but when i put trash out to be picked up, i don't expect my neighbors to come and get it.
we did not see them this time, but we have seen them before.
my hubby put a burned out mr. coffee out beside our trash can last night, and this am it was gone,prior to the trash men picking it up.
most of my household furniture (except the bed and the sofas) was taken from the curb. Since my husband is also the building manager where we live we often go into the apartments of people who move out or are evicted and go "shopping."
finally, guilt at just being a lurker has driven me onto the board.
not that i feel i have much to add, but did want to extend my appreciation for much of the information and insight i have received from many of the posters here.. i suppose some brief synopsis of my story should be forthcoming.
its very similar to many of stories i have read here.. was raised in the truth ,third generation on both sides.

I remeber some time ago the Freeminds site had it's own discussion board, which quickly grew out of control. then one day I browsed into freeminds again and clicked on the discussion board link at the botton of the page and it brought me here. I had been lurking ex-jw discussion boards since 1998, first Tishie's board and then h2o. I was never a really active poster on either of those boards, as with this board.
today i found out that my dad committed suicide, probably on sunday sometime.
his body was found today and the plano police department called me.
i am numb and grieving, kind of relieved for a lot of reasons, and very very sad.

I actually read this post days ago, but I couldn't find the words to adequately express what I felt. I guess I still haven't, except that you all are in my thoughts constantly, and my wish for both of you is to find some kind of peace, even within these extraordinary circumstances.

absolutely not. I was only 12, and I did it because that was what was expected of me at that point in time.

we all want to be happy, healthy and successful, but not everyone takes the same road in life.. what are your priorities in life?.
I guess I'll admit that I do, to a large extent, measure my success in life by the amount of money I make, and therefore my top priorities revolve around making a plan to make that money. awful isn't it?
