I have felt that same way many many MANY times but there is so much out there to do and discover. Try taking a few courses at the local community college see how that works out for you. There are a lot of people who are going back to school in their 30s 40s and 50s so it won't even phase you. Be thrilled that you have no kids and a lower income; believe me that helps when you apply for financial aid. Don't waste time comparing yourself to your peers, do what makes you feel happy and YOU set the standard for YOUR own success. Heck, why not save up as much money as you can and buy out the darn place where you work at? Imagine how that would feel!

Sorry, I need to vent for a moment...
by Abandoned innormally, i don't mind where i'm at in my life.
i'm forty, no kids, low-paying job, live in a trailer court, etc (and trust me there's more to the etc, then i've already mentioned), but today i had a hard time.. one of my best friends from high school was a big dope head (no offense to the dope heads out there).
he showed up nearly every day to our first period art class smelling of weed and was generally so whacked out of his mind that he got horrible grades.. he finally graduated - barely - and made it to college.

DON'T DATE A CO-WORKER. I can't emphasize that strongly enough. You did nothing wrong. She is a drama queen.

Thanksgiving ? Have you left the mind control?
by AK - Jeff inwe always did the 'family thing' on t-day, excusing our dinner in that manner.
many witnesses i knew did the same.. now, i proudly do it as thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings and not one ounce of guilt.. this year i do it with a 7 foot fully lit xmas tree in the lr.
no guilt there either.. any still struggling with leftover jw holiday guilt syndrome?.

No I don't feel guilty with regards to holidays but I do feel an overwhelming sense of sadness when I hear people's holiday stories and all the great memories they have of holidays past with family and friends and then I realize that I can't draw upon any stories of my own. There is sort of this lingering "disconnected" feeling if you know what I mean that prevents me from really enoying the holiday seasons, and I don't believe that will ever go away.

I think everyone has made some great points on this thread and this comment sums up perfectly how I feel:
Did you know that the agricultural industry is the only industry not subject to minimum wage? Who the fuck makes these rules? It is our own god damn government taking advantage of both immigrants AND nationals in proping up bloating, subsidized industries.
Everyone pisses me off - and not talking about this forum here - but all sides of the argument. Its not fair to anyone
.I often say to myself that if there were no jobs, none whatsoever to people who enter the country illegally they obviously wouldn't continue entering here. So then the logic follows that "someone" is benefitting enormously from the deal by letting people w/o papers work and take up residence in this nation. The local politicos in NYC refuse to deal with the situation. The state also refuses. So it's only the Feds left, yet they are so far removed in many cases from the extent of the problem and they just take their sweet old time mired in paperwork and fed up employees to deal with it.
I say let the people decide. This issue should be placed on referundum for the next election.

How do you feel about Tatoos?
by Fisherman ini feel very offended and distrurbed when i see people covered with tatoos.
some people have tatoos all over their bodies, even on their faces.
there are also tatoo programs on the tlc channel that children can watch without a forewarning before the show comes on.

tattoos, piercings.......I love em all. I have 2 tattoos, one behind each shoulder, and I didn't get them in my 20s..I plan to get maybe one or two more. The other day I saw a guy on the train who had tattoos all over, up to his chin. It looked kind of scary at first, but I loved the defiance of it. This guy obviously doesn't give a crap who thinks what of him. I love that.

AT 1:26PM FRIDAY OUR DAUGHTER WAS BORN!!!
by Es inwell its all happend, got to the hosp early friday morning, had my waters broken at around 7:30am had to wait for an hour and a half to see if labour would begin naturally, it didnt so at 9am i was hooked up to the drip, man that was intense, put it to you this way, blakes labour was about 8 hours all up kaia's labour was 3 hours and i would rather go through the 8 hour one anyday.. it was a very short labour, kaia was born a bit shocked as it happend so fast so she was rushed up to nursery for a bit as she was purple and not breathing properly but after an hour on oxygen she was fine, me on the other hand had to be stitched up coz pushing a 9 pound 1 baby out naturally with no drugs does damage heheh, then i had to be hooked up to a drip for 4 hours as i lost a bit of blood.
but once we were all sorted it was all good.
she is doing so well we are at home now, she is beautiful and very content.

Witness mother's and jealousy towards their daughters...
by kittyeatzjdubs inladies, growing up, did you ever feel that your mother resented or was jealous of you?
whenever i would get a compliment from someone, especially males, she would always find someway to turn right around and insult me in front of everyone.
we were at dinner one time with the co and he told me that i was a very beautiful young lady.

You all wouldn't believe the things my mother said and did to me when I was younger. I'd prefer not to bring it all up because the hurt is so bad. Suffice to say that both her words and her actions--including exposing my private areas in public--are part of the reasons why I hate her so much and try to stay away from her as much as possible. Going back to the topic, I don't think this is limited to JW mothers. Plenty non-JW mothers do this to their daughters too.

The time an idiot brother sent me (I was about 12 at the time) and another young sister (she was in her teens) into a rooming house full of men. We knocked on a few doors and then left because we were scared. He asked us if went to every door and we said yes.
I had this happen to me so many times. Either my mom or some idiot elder or MS wouldn't pay any mind to the fact that I was a young teenage girl and happily send me alone into potentially dangerous situations. It would make me so angry. I carried pepper spray in my service bag just in case.

How do you combat laziness?
by AlmostAtheist ini didn't say "unmotivated" or "lacking direction" or any of the other euphemisms i typically apply to it.
i said what i meant, and i do mean it.. but i can't imagine it has to be this way.
surely there's something i can do to combat it.
