what makes someone 'beautiful' to you?
has it changed over the years, so that you consider something else?
what attracts you to someone?
Rochelle,
Thanks for your insight and your humor with it. You're a beautiful woman.

Hello, my friend, ISP
I think as Seeker does:
I've known some "plain" folks who have become beautiful to me after I got to know them. And I've known some "beautiful" persons who became ugly in my eyes as I saw who they were inside.
I find that to be SO TRUE.
And once you get to know a person, no matter what they look like, I guess it all boils down to what hybridous said:
beauty truely is...'in the eye of the beholder'. Beyond that, nothing else matters.
ISP, you're a person I like, and enjoy talking to.

on thursday, the 21st, i lost a dear friend.. he was an older man, some 25 years older than me.
he was not a dub.
we became friends over 10 years ago because of a mutual hobby, that of ham radio, or amateur radio if you prefer.
zev,
I can feel the loss in your life that you are feeling. I was there listening, day after day, as you and your friend chatted over the radio. Talking about ups, downs, and every part of life in between. Including cars and airplanes.
Remember the time he was returning shorts that were bought for him that were way too big? He said that they were so big that you and him both could fit in them. Your reply was something on the idea of,"That's something that I dont want to imagine." He laughed at that because he probably had that mental image of the two of you in a pair of shorts together in his head.
I listened to the both of you talking on the radio, and listened to you both laugh together. You gave laughs and smiles to him , as he did for you. Keep that in mind as you try to cope with the loss of him, your friend. Like I said once before, time only, heals.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.
luv ya.

just so certain ladies do not feel alone in cringedom i will confess my red-cheekers !.
i was a well-developed 15 yr old getting too volupteous for my school uniform ( ok too fat then) and the zip had bust on my only school skirt.
my mum replaced it using an old zip from another garment which happened to be quite a bit longer than a normal skirt zip.an unmarried brother came to visit one morning and was sat in our living room having a cuppa while i was frantically getting ready for school.
thank you SO much for starting this topic, Free2Bme! I'm really having a great time laughing, as we all are here! Here's my very first one of lifes embarrasing moments. Just one of those moments that never ever leave you. You'll take them to the grave with ya.
I was about 14-15 years old. It was in the 70s and the wrap-around skirts were the thing to wear. I wore them most of the time, but this one sunday, I wore a black skirt that had a zipper up the back of it. I was at the Sunday meeting in the kingdom hall. I had a bad cramps so when the meeting started, I unzipped the back of my skirt because with sitting and all, the tightness was making the cramps worse. I had a sweater on the back of my chair, so I knew nobody would notice that my skirt was unzipped. I felt instant relief with my skirt unzipped. 1 hour passes by, and by that time, I forgot that my skirt was unzipped. It was time to satnd up for the song intermission. I stood up and was lowly singing along. I went to shift my weight from one foot to the other and when I tried to move my foot, it wouldn't move. It got stuck. I looked down and there was my skirt. It was bunched around my ankles. I quickly pulled up my skirt and sat down, fiddleing to zipper it up. All the while, I could feel my face turning beet red. When I stood back up, I looked behind me and noticed that only one boy seemed to notice it. He was trying to stifle his laugh. As soon as the meeting ended, I jetted for the door to sit and wait in the car for my parents to come out. Fortunately, the boy never said anything to me about it. It's one of the moments I'll never forget though.
Thanks all of you guys for the funny stories. Oh..one more thing. Seeker, I was with a group of friends and noticed that one guy's zipper was down and his fly was wide open as he stood there chatting with all of us (yes, he had skivies on too). I never even told him to zip up. Why? Because I figured he would ask me how I noticed that and what was I doing looking there! It was safer to just let him walk around like that, or leave it to someone else to say something!

by popular demand, i am yielding to pressure, to tell a story about our very own veniceit.. in march, venice and her parents were visiting us here in washington state, and we all had dinner at our daughter's home one evening.
(my daughter posts here as princess) princess's son, 4 years old, was quite taken with venice and was showing her around the house.
he was going up the stairs ahead of her, and turned around, face first at her rather, ummm, er, ample?
tee hee. Thanks for sharing the story, Mulan.
Venice, you're a riot! Thanks for all the smiles you give us and the "HAHAHAHAHAHAs" too.
Princess, welcome to the discussion board. Have fun!

its strange now how i find such a huge contrast between the words of the gospel accounts of jesus and the interpretation of those words by the wts.
to me it seems there is little of the gospel jesus in the wts attitude to sinning and to sinners.. i recently reread lukes account of when jesus went to the home of the pharisee, simon.
during the meal a woman of the city, a sinner, bathed jesus feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.
Thirdson,
No support is offered. This has been said before; there are no alcoholics, drug users, thieves, or whatever among JW's. The reason, they kick them out. No help is offered because no-one has problems. If you have a problem you are not a member.
I think that sums up what all of us(RVW,TINA CPiolo, outnfree, patio, and Copern) have been agreeing on when all is said and done in the borg land so far.
I think this topic is great. It's all SO true. I hope it keeps going, and more people participate. Really, it makes no difference whether one is an atheist, or a christian. It's a FACT that both treat others with forgiveness and love. Whether following the Bible or not, I've yet to see a congregation of JWs show REAL love for each other. What comes natural for some, has to be dictated to others.

Thirdson,
I see your point about the WBTS's interpretation of the Gospel accounts of Jesus. I find that it's not that often that they even write about The Gospel of Jesus. The only time I see them write any substansial amount about Jesus is just before the memorial service. In the same articles, as you read on, you notice that they start "encouraging" members to invite everyone they know to the kingdom hall for the memorial service. It's then that in hits you why they wrote about Jesus to begin with.
After I walked away out of a kingdom hall for the last time, it felt good to read the four Gospels of Jesus, without a watchtower or any other book written by the WBTS. For the first time, I read the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and was completely amazed. I was so used to reading "what would Paul do?" like material, that I never knew the story of Jesus. Ilove those four books. It explains what Christ was like and why He gave his life. It also opened my eyes more and more to see that while being a JW, I was imitating Pharisee.
