Exorcising Your Demons
by drahcir yarrum ini wish i knew how to add links in here but i don't.
in drudge report today, there is a story about a faith healer who claims he can exorcise demons from women, but apparently he needs to have sex with them to make it work.. i think this might be a good pick up line for witness men to use.
"sister smith, i think i can help you with those terrible feelings that something is coming between you and jehovah's blessing.

ZazuWitts,
Thank you SO much. I'm glad I asked now! Zev gave me the idea to send articles to the newspapers and media. I was glad he did. I sent some for him too. Between everyone on the board, from all diferrent parts of the world, we should be able to help future victims. I thank you once again for your great example and I WILL use it.
For anyone who are active JWs and can't send the truth out to their local newspapers or media, I'm volunteering to do it for you. E-mail me with the site or fax you wish to send to.
Thank you, Silentlambs for getting all the ball rolling and sacrificing yourself and your family for the safty of the children.

ZazuWitts,
Great work! I also sent articles to 2 locals newspapers and 1 to a newspaper firm in the next state over from me. I also faxed a local talk radio show. I haven't heard anything back at all and I e-mailed and faxed everything Tuesday. I never thought to contact the local churches though. I think I'll do that!
May I ask if you can give me an example of how you worded your first few sentences to get people to read what you sent? Maybe that's the trick. Please e-mail me with an example if you can. I would appreciate it so much, as I appreciate what you have already done, and for the idea of sending information out to churches.

Society instructions to elders about child abuse
by ozziepost inin view of current developments it may be useful to some who have come to the child abuse issue only recently to highlight the watchtower society's instructions to elders.. in a letter to boe dated november 1, 1995 they make the incriminating statement "it is important to first obtain the society's direction to protect both the elders and the organisation.
incriminating?
yes, for they show clearly what is most important to them.

Anchor,
Thanks for your reply.
The paranoia you feel is very normal for all active (and some inactive even STILL, after being inactive for years) JWs. I'm fortunate that I'm free to not care who knows that I'm here. It's a freedom that I took for granted not so long ago. Now I'm realizing how much I value that kind of freedom. Someday,I hope you'll be able to enjoy the freedom yourself. It's a peacful freedom.
anyhoo....
As to blame, did you read the choice comment from Mario Moreno, the Watchtower lawyer, who says elders "screw up?" They even say elders should avoid calling or talking to any traveling overseers because THESE "screw up" so often. That is sure to go over well with COs and DOs. You are right on the money, they care for nobody but themselves and will sacrifice anyone as fast as a lightning strike.
I think I may have heard him on tape. That sounds a little familiar. Can you give me an url, or link where I can read it?

I believe that the society is out to protect their own backsides. I truly do not believe they care one bit about the elders. And if the elders get sued, I think their legal problems will be their own and the society will have an "it ain't our problem!" attitude.
Anchor,
Before you resign as an elder, can you tell me if any of the following comments are hand written in your elders manual regarding what NOT to put on disfellowshipping (s77 and s79) forms? i.e. the forms the judicial committee use to report disfellowshippings to the WBTS.
Anything alluding to or naming one of the Society's attorneys
Any mention of the Legal Department
Any comments referring to direction from the Society
Any comments mentioning anyone other than the committee itself as a possible influence in the decision reached
Any comments that might suggest to someone with a critical eye that the committee did not reach its decision on its own but, instead, somehow yielded to the influence of an outside party
Any comments indicating that the elders mishandled the case or committed any error in the investigation or the judicial committee process.

If none of them are hand written, are they at least found anywhere in the manual?peace,

Once upon a time..........
by ozziepost inonce upon a time there lived a fair young maiden in a far off land.. one day her uncle gave her a copy of a letter to read.
the letter was from a great king to a fair young princess who was betrothed to marry his son, a handsome prince.. this letter is written to a son who is in love with the beautiful princess, said the uncle.. what will happen if i read the letter?
asked the maiden.. you will see that the prince and the princess are very much in love, and the great king wants to tell them about what will happen to them after they are married.. uncle, its wonderful to think of a father loving his son so much, said the maiden, for as you know, i have no father.

Great concluding comments!
So, do you think the fair maiden will live happy ever after?
Perhaps she will. That's all up to her.

A Discussion With An "Anointed" Elder
by Defender inan elder from my congregation visits my wife and i whenever he is in the area.
it has been a while since his last visit.
he used to come in uninvited and unexpected.
-

Hi Defender, ( and hello, qwerty)
It's wonderful that you got the chance to sit down and have a discussion with the anointed elder.
While I agree that knowledge of God is important, I think it's only gained through Jesus's words in the Bible. I don't believe that it's commanded that we gain knowledge through any organization or group. Just my own opinion here.
If the elder comes back for a visit and feels well enough to have a discussion again. Ask him to read 1Corinthians 13. It's a short chapter and states that showing love is more important than knowledge or preaching.
One more comment..I noticed that the Catholics have changed some false doctrines over the years and everytime they do, the watchtower or awakes have articles slamming them for it and saying that they taught false teachings because they are part of satan's organization. The Watchtower even bashed them for publicly appoligizing and asking for forgiveness. Reading all the false teachings/doctrines you mentioned that JWs taught brought to mind the August 1,2001 Watchtower article. It's posted in the Study Articles forum by hippikon. If you have a chance, read it. I was appauled at what I was reading. Even the first sentence.
Along with querty, I thank you for posting your discussion, Defender.

Reflecting on real love
by Richie inreflecting back on the moments in the past when i was doing everything i could to please god in accordance with the society's standards and whatever my family and i did it was never really good enough - at least that's how i always felt: doing better the next time but inside of me a feeling of guilt and part-accomplishment and this happened on a constant basis even when i was serving as an elder.. after i was disfellowshipped i went back a couple of times; in fact i was disfellowshipped in my old congregation, but i started to go back later on to a different congregation in another kingdom hall (which i used to attend)where my daughter with her husband also attend.. there were in total 2 brothers who were happy to see me; one brother poked me softly in the back confirming his happiness that i came to visit the congregation, and a second brother gave me the thumbs up (ignoring the stern gaze of an elder) when i left the hall at the close of the meeting.
i must admit that these tiny acknowledgments of love and concern toward me were unexpected but they were nevertheless very much appreciated!
it showed a measure of respect that's due to a human and much more so due to a longstanding friend of many years before.

Richie,
I'm sorry for the loss of your loved one and the pain you had to endure during your mourning.
Your speaking about conditional love brought back to mind the reason I walked away from the JW's to begin with. Here is a thread started by Moxy in which I finally typed out and explained why I walked
away. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=5076&site=3 I could not make myself treat others as you were treated. And the gossip was terrible. I felt that my only choice was to leave. The thread also has others experiences with elders and how they were treated by the congregation.Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.
Peace to you and yours.
