Death's face depicted in Society's artwork
by Jourles inthere was a topic a while back which talked about satan being depicted in the society's artwork.
i made mention that while on a tour at the farm in pine bush/walkill, i took a picture of a painting showing the four horsemen of the apocalypse with death following behind.
you can just make out the face in the picture.

I could be wrong, but to me his eyes look open. They look like they have the black stuff under the eyes similar to what football and soccer players use to keep the sun's glare out of their eyes.

Visited by JWs today
by Soledad inmy mom had an accident about two weeks ago, fortunately she is ok. im living in my parents house now after my husband (yet again) threatened to "beat the crap out of me"---that story in another post some other time.
needless to say, ever since she got out of the hospital the phone rings about 50 times a day, mostly calls from the "hermanos.
" today a couple that i have known for about 15 years comes to visit, and their "discomfort" with my presence (i am da) is quite noticeable.

I'm confused ... you wrote you are in your parents' house, and yet you acted like:
"hell no, this is MY damn house, I'll go where I please."
If you were in your mom's house, why wouldn't you respect her wishes? -

The Nicest Man
by Mulan ini just had to share this experience.
i have been going to the dentist since august to get some needed work done.
i hate the dentist worse than anything on earth, but this time it has been a pretty nice experience.

I think there should be some type of compromise - like a "refresher" course that you have to pass in order to be considered competent to practice here. I don't think, when all things are considered, medical schools everywhere are equal. For example, is a medical school in Nigeria, Africa going to be of equal quality to Harvard in Massachusetts?

It always amazes me how much younger guys can look when they shave their heads. I'm too chicken myself to do it, though.

Favourite Christmas Songs
by Fe2O3Girl inthere is christmas music blaring out in every shopping centre now, it started in mid-november.
it works a treat, reminds everyone to get spending.
most of it is rubbish, i feel so sorry for shopworkers having to listen to that for 7 weeks.

I do like the song Silent Night. But even despite being out for over 10 years, I still don't get all worked up about the holidays. It still feels "wrong." Must be all the JW-programming in me. But then again I don't dread opening credit card statements in January. :)

We are very fortunate & take it for granted
by Simon inwe've just been watching an absolutely heart wrenching documentary on itv about a little girl with a very rare disease (progeria) which makes her age prematurely at 10 times the normal rate.
she will be like an old woman by the time she is 10.. they have a meet-up where the little kids with the same condition can play and have fun together and seeing their poor little faces looking so happy is a wonder to behold.
i guess it's easy to forget that inside they are still really little kids.

You are absolutely right - life is way too short and precious ... just a couple of streets over, a young child unlatched the door at night, was attacked by some wild dogs and died. The parents are inconsolable. You just never know when a life will come to an abrupt and untimely end. :(
